The Caliph's Garden is patterned after traditional Islamic Garden's which are all similarly designed.
Square enclosures divided into four parts, leading to a life giving spring in the middle. Geometry and symmetry are most important, with the divisions marked with channels of water that meet in a central pool or fountain. Water is the most important part of the garden, and it is said of Paradise, to be a place "overflowing with water." The sounds of running water, tinkling from fountains, or splashing over stones, gives the feeling of harmonious tranquility to those visiting our garden. Tiny candles are afloat in the pools with lily's. Our garden is a place of sublime beauty and sensual delite. Nature here is eternally in bloom. Tree's are covered in pearls from the trunk to the top. Around the trunks are blooming hyacinths in soft shades of pink, purple and white. A heady fragrance attacks our scenses. It has branches filled with gllittering Topaz and leaves of spun silk. Each plant is carefully chosen for it's sensuality and decorated thusly with gold, ruby, sapphire, coral and emeralds. Large silken pillows are grouped about the garden suggesting privacy. In golden containers incense burns, sitting amid rose petals, orange flower, jasmine, carnation, and violet petals. While listening to soft music and poetry reading, food and drink are served, often containing aphrodisiac ingredients, to awaken and arouse.
And so amid climbing roses, soft light, coloured tapestry's, flowering plants and the sounds of water and music... we settle into the Caliph's Garden , and write our Love prose.

Love abounds in the garden... June 01, 2005 3:08 PM
If Only in my Dreams...
I feel your arms around me as I gently touch your cheek.
I gaze into your loving eyes, no words I find to speak.
I have hungered for this moment as the years have dwindled by,
Gentle kisses filled with sweetness fuel the passion deep inside.
~~
Desires so long forbidden now released from deep within.
Loving pleasures now awaken as your fingers touch my skin.
The scent of your sweet body penetrates my very soul.
The love and lust once hidden, has taken all control.
~~
Now we lay in silent wonder, my head upon your chest,
And I listen to your heartbeat telling me it's time to rest.
I drift off into dreamland knowing I am where I'm meant to be -
Safe inside your loving arms, you're everything to me.
~~
The morning comes and I awake to my reality.
I am here and you are there, across the deep blue sea.
So, I will keep on loving you in the midnight of my soul. If only in my dreams...it's you I long to hold.
~~

REMEMBERING THE PROMISE OF ROMANCE... June 16, 2005 8:25 PM
Chaka Dellali
I've missed the tenderness and love from a Mother. and my gift's of love, returned, I've not found it from another. Please remember when you take my heart, That you could make me fall apart... Into many pieces Like the sands of time. Beloved husband, Allah chose you to be, A comfort, a friend, Please tenderly. And I shall bring you to the Oriental Garden. Filled with the sweetest honey, Nectar for no other. A humble, willing lover. The gift's that gold cannot buy. Saved for the "Sheshes" I will give to you the Desert at Twilight.
How beautiful! I am so happy you visit our garden. Oh, please come again... I think I will sit here in the garden and drink some thrice brewed Turkish coffee to help me wake up before I begin working on the Mosque.
SHUKRAN and do visit the rest of the Casbah. Rabia

...by one of the great modern Arabian diplomat & poet - Nizar Qabbani (1923~1998). A Syrian by birth, he is known as a specialist of writing the experiences of traditional Arab women, brought about by his personal trauma of the suicide of his sister - who was unwilling to marry a man that she did not love!
N. Qabbani's later writings delved deeply in politics & the suffering of his race. He is also well known in criticizing Male Chauvinism in his Arab world thru his lovely traditional Arabic poetry
The above previous posting is part one of his poetry called "Little Things", the rest* of the five verses can be found...
* For his poetry in English translations, you can buy that at Amazon. I had posted this scanned originals for the benefit of our Arab brothers/ladies at C2.
