http://www.caslpa.ca/english/resources/maymonth.asp
May is Speech and Hearing Awareness Month the one month in the year when thousandsof professionals involved with the treatment of speech, language and hearing disorders come together to participate in a public awareness campaign that encourages early detection and prevention of communication disorders, and seeks to increase the public's sensitivity to the challenges faced by individuals experiencing them.
Throughout the month of May the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA), and our 4,500 members - speech-language pathologists and audiologists across Canada - will be hard at work raising public awareness concerning their professions and the many issues surrounding speech, language and hearing disorders.

Help Deaf Students Learn about the World May 13, 2005 6:22 AM
Hi! If you are from somewhere other than central Virginia, USA, please consider buying a cheap postcard from your area or from your travels and sending it to:
Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind
East Beverly Street
Staunton, VA 24401
Just write a nice note "To the Students at the School" and help these students learn geography and about other cultures and places all around them! Thanks for your help! Happy travels!

A Deaf Pen Pal for your Students...and maybe YOU! May 20, 2005 5:04 AM
Thanks to everyone who is joining in and sending post cards to the VA School for the Deaf! If you'd like more info on this school and its kids, check out http://www.vsdb.state.va.us/ and click on Student Life and Student Webs, which shows you websites built by some of the students! In order to earn a new snail mail pen pal, just write to the school at the address on the site with a letter of introduction! This sort of thing makes the world less scary and a whole lot smaller to these bright but disabled students! It also helps teach your students about kids who are a little bit different and a whole lot the same!
