why so many people love Native American items but get so pissed off if I wear a leather coat? I betcha they wouldn't if I wore a buckskin dress around town. How is that any different? Am I honoring my culture any less if I wear a leather coat than a buckskin dress? What about all those tipis that white people pay thousands of dollars to go to a "sweatlodge" by someone who sells them a ceremony -- do they wonder how that tipi was made? Hmmmm.

FYI - most of the tipis that I see out and around are made of canvas unless they are doing some kind of education program and use the tipi in that and then they have been made of hides.
I don't understand why someone would pay 100's and 1000's of dollars for Native American ceremonies and it's not even a Native American doing the ceremony in most cases. Maybe one part of them believes that Native Americans don't exist (you know that is one of the myths.... they were all killed either by invasions or when they were rounded up and put into internment camps) and therefore they are paying for the experience of a historical re-enactment??????

I don't get why people pay money for fake ceremonies either. Course, I also don't know why they are trying to pray to their God using Indian ceremonies. I've actually heard people say, "Oh but pipe ceremonies and sweatlodges bring me closer to my (Judeo-Christian) God." What's up with THAT?

Several days ago, I tried to post again to this thread. It was a long post, but when I pressed the 'post reply' button Care2 signed me off. (I swear, I didn't use any bad words... lol lol) Anyway, that so irritated me that this is my first attempt at posting here since. BTW, that wasn't the first time that Care2 did that to me.
Yeh sometimes it does that to me too. And I DO use bad words but only when there are no kids around.
