PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING PICS March 15, 2009 9:38 PM

Hello everybody! We seem to get a lot of folks that are posting from other picture sources besides the Care2 albums. Those other sources can be a problem if the photo and/or graphic has not been downsized (made smaller) before posting at a thread. A picture that is too large can stretch a thread, making people needing to scroll to read the posts, or taking a really long time to load the threads - especially if we've got a bunch of big pics in there! So, we ask that you downsize to no larger than about 600 x 400 - even smaller if you can. The next bit of info is from a post Sunny put up explaining just a bit more about downsizing pics. Thanks!!

I've  just been clicking aorund  on photo in other

threads.  Seems to me if you jsut use a Care2 Album

for pictures there wouldn't be  a problem at all.

Nearly all the  properties read 550X413 which is

what Care2 downsizes them to no matter how big

they are when you up load them.  The cluprits

seem to all be from  Photobucket.

Whatever.  Just about every digital program

has a menu that will allow reduction in size.

If you use it, just do a Save As  or you'll loose

the original size.  I usually  keep the  name

and add  "rs"  at the  end  for  "re-sized"

Here's another 'tip' that I think most all of us needed when we first started posting.  Once you've got your pics loaded into a care2 album, you need to click on the photo in the album to enlarge it before doing your right click and copy and paste. If you don't, the picture will show up quite small in the thread and also will be a link directly to your album.   Also, we've posted all kinds of size limits in various threads so to clarify just a bit - the absolute widest a picture should be posted at is 640 pixels. I usually try to keep the pics at about 600 pixels wide, just because then I know for sure I won't be the one stretching the thread and having the stretched thread cop calling me out on it and deleting my post      for sharing your wonderful photos with us!!

Gaily,

There are lots of times that mine doesn't want to work too. I often have to do it 6 times before seeing the link light up. I also find that sometimes I didn't click on the copy  the way I was suppose to, so I go back and do it again.

Deb, on the 640 wide, my compupic program has a 640 by 480, and that always looks huge to me, so I still crop the sides a little. My next choice down is way too small. If I have a big picture, and I want my cat to show up larger, I will leave it at 800 by 600 and do all kinds of cropping around my kitty.

Now,  I need a badge to show that I am the  stretched thread police. I make photos vanish when I have to read and use the scroll bar because of a too wide picture.

RE-SIZING PHOTOS - Care2 will automatically re-size your photo/graphic to 600. The problem is that if you do not resize your pic to approx. 640 before trying to load it into a Care2 album it can take Care2 forever to re-size it.  Consequently I try to always re-size before trying to load in one of my Care2 albums.  Hope this helps.

Donna what is a comcupic program?  Makes me think of something else, LOL!!!

Here's another tip for resizing - once you get the picture in the thread (or on your profile page) left click on it once - it should then get "handles" - little boxes at each corner and at the sides - that you can put your cursor on and you should then get an arrow - that arrow allows you to drag your picture smaller or bigger. It works just like any other photo publishing software. Profile page pictures are supposed to be even smaller than 640 - I think it is about 450 wide, so make sure to resize the profile pics when you put them in your profiles. Donna, I'm looking for your badge!!
