Hi there everyone Welcome to our 'happy' chit chat thread Sometimes, we all can sort of get stuck talking about bad stuff in our lives ... so, in here, we'd like to try to keep it as upbeat as possible Here's the link to our last thread
HI again everyone!! Sorry I haven't been around in awhile. Life got a little crazy for awhile. And it's bound to get even more crazy. After the first of the year I start taking some college classes. I am planning on going for a bachelor's degree. I just hope it's worth getting so wound up about.
Since losing Angel there have been times when I've thought about getting a new kitty, but the time just doesn't seem right. I'm sure that when the time comes the perfect kitty will walk into my life and take up my heart as residence.
Hi Deb, Christine, Phil! Deb....I'm glad you survived that gas leak ordeal. I don't like the thought of something happening to my buddy!! Great pic to start the thread of with! Christine....good luck with your schooling. Sounds like a great plan Phil....always good to see your cheeriness I had a great vacation. I haven't finished unpacking. My bag was 49 lbs...50 is the limit...I can't imagine tossing stuff out at the airport, lol. It was fairly hefty since I brought tons of clothes I didn't wear, of course. I'm still deciding on what to do with my "extra hour" due to the time change. I'm thinking of not changing the time back on the clock radio so I will have an extra hour before getting up for work tomorrow. I used to change it Sunday afternoons to get an extra hour on that afternoon...but sleeping an extra hour sounds better these days. Does anyone else play with the time change like that?
I"am glad you enjoyed your vaction. How was the flight there and back?
With the time change, i found it to be postive, one extra hour on the weekend gets no complaints from me.
Its in the springtime when we lose a hour, that i notice.
do you?
One book you may have heard or read about is "Dewey" i just finished it. A true story of a cat who grew up in a library in Iowa. Amazing, funny, sad. He affected so many people in his long life. {19 years} i would strongly recommend it since we all love cats.
The author is VIcky Myron. She was his primary care giver and she loved him the most.
My flights were good, thanks. The return one was the best b/c it was a straight through, although the stop-over on the flight there was only 45 minutes. The return one was quick, we actually arrived earlier than scheduled...I guess the wind was on our side. I don't mind losing that hour in the Spring b/c we get so much extra daylight I know the wonderful story about that cat at the library, and it's a great recommendation, Phil
Well ... good day to all you Cat Lovers out there!! Hi Christine, Sandrea, Phil Good to see you in here
Christine, that schooling sounds great. I wish I could take the time and energy needed to go back to school myself. I think you have a great reason to be looking forward to it!! And, I agree about the new kitty. If the time is right, the kitty will be there.
Hi Phil! Isn't that about the happiest looking little kitty face?? glad you were able to get out and enjoy your good weather today. We are having a beautiful day as well. Most of the snow has melted, thank goodness! I am taking this day to kick back and enjoy my extra hour. I turned all the clocks back last night (well, at 1:00 am - gave myself another hour at the computer - hehehe). I like the Fall back - Spring forward always makes me tired for the first week or so.
Hi Sandrea I'm so glad you had such a nice trip. The only problems with having such a wonderful vacation is that you miss what you were able to do while you were on it!! But, I know you were glad to get home to your kitties. We are glad to have you safe and sound back home. And thanks about the gas leak thing - that was scary. They are telling everyone it was not a gas leak now, and that it was a false alarm! I find it hard to believe that the entire emergency response team was called out and they set up a "command post" and evacuated more than 200 homes because someone made a phone call telling them they "thought" they smelled gas! Uh ... this is a bit difficult to believe.
Well, everyone, I sure hope you are all enjoying your Sunday. I will probably check back in later
I can't stand any kind of change when it comes to the computer. I have my routine and that is that. If I am turned in another direction with my computer, it messes me up, and I can't concentrate.
That is a bummer Deb. Someone smells gas, and everyone has to head for the hills. I smell gas, and I run for the litter box.
I do remember when we had gas cooking. I don't know, but it might have been gas heat too. I was about 10 when I was lighting the oven. I turned it on, and about 5 or more minutes later I lit the match, and POOF, BOOM, there went my eye brows and lashes. A gas leak is a nasty smell. I recall piolet lights going out too.
Hi Phil and Sandrea. I went to church for a couple of hours, and then picked up my youngest sister to take a ride to the hospital to see my brother. His sons motorcycle and some other thing fell on him and pinned him down, so he has hematomas all over. His son was visiting, and even the X was trying to help out. She is the head of same day surgery. That was nice that she was there for him. He is out of it pretty much with some medication stronger than morphine, plus morphine.
I had to laugh today at church. The Pastor was kidding around saying No one knows the troubles I've seen. The funny part if that Jimmy goes out the door singing that, and I get in stitches laughing.
Well, I am glad everyone is chooting the chit today.
Oh Esta, that's really a shame about your computer. I sure hope you can get it up and running again. When I first got my laptop, I could barely use it. Now I just get mixed up as to what keys do what between my laptop, desktop and the Blackberry. I sure hope it isn't for too long. We would miss you in here!!!
Donna, the kind of gas we have in the pipelines is the kind that can kill you with one breath. If the PPMs get over a certain number, we are dead. But, still, no one should be able to just call and get an entire emergency team out and people evacuated! All the gas wells have alarms on them and that is usually how the emergency crews are alerted. It's good to be able to go to church and enjoy yourself!
I really messed up. On the previous post I meant but ended up misspelling the word and got *grouphut* instead. Then I tried to edit it, and couldn't get it to do anything. I guess it must be Monday.

Screamingbelle, i hope your brother recovers quickly.
Deb, that would be scary to have to leave very quickly due to a gas leak! {get the animals and go}
We had a fire alarm last year and Solomon was so scared of the noise that it took me 5 minutes to find him. A knock on the door at the time and a fireman said "you've got to go"
And i replied "yes, as soon as i get my cat"
Luckily, it was a false alarm,,,
Hi Esta, Christine, Sandrea!

good morning everyone, well here i am on this puter that confuses the heck out of me. The key board is just awful and I don't think I will get used to it. I want my old puter back, but I think is gone. I am trying to figure out a way to get a new one, all i need is the computer as I have everthing else.
Deb I sure am glad you are ok with that gas thing. I am so afraid of gas. I remember too Donna lighting the stove with matches, always scared the h out of me.
Hi, Phil, glad you didn't have to leave, I know how it is when we have to find a cat thats hiding.
Well I got to get off this thing, but just had to touch bases.
I will give you hubby's email in case bxborn35@yahoo.com
Hello everyone I sure hope this Monday isn't too bad for everyone - Mondays are just such a wasted day for me. I can't get it in gear after the weekends. Christine We all can see the kind of Monday you are having! Not to worry - we all knew what you meant, and thanks so much for the group hug. And here's one right back to you!
Wow, Phil - I am scared to death of fire - I could no way leave my kitties. And these guys panic if I get upset - so I have to walk around real nonchalant like gently picking up one kitty at a time and taking them to the carriers. If they even hear the sound of the carrier door opening, they are GONE! I don't know sometimes where they hide, either. I have looked all over for someone sleeping in a hiding spot - no luck - then, an hour later, all of a sudden there they are, looking at me as if they have been in plain sight the whole time. Or, I will be looking for someone and be on the floor with my head half under a bed and I hear a meow next to me ... and it is the one that I have been searching for They are like little Houdinis. Like you, I was really glad it was a false alarm. A pain, literally, and really scary to have to evacuate - but because it was a false alarm, no one was killed or got really sick.
Donna, I forgot to mention your brother in the last post!! How is he doing?? Any better? What was he doing outside by that motorcycle?
Esta, we are glad you were able to figure out the computer enough to post!! We are such creatures of habit Do you know what happened to the old computer?
Well, hello to any other cat lovers who may drop in today - I will be back in later
I hope everyone's having a good Monday. I had Friday off work to go to another concert so it was a lovely long weekend for me, but I'm usually with Bob Geldof regarding Mondays
Phil, I share your priorities! Nobody would get me to evacuate the house without Moll.
Esta, Donna, we're real creatures of habit with our computers aren't we? I've got all my favorites and shortcuts set up and my desktop is crammed with icons, but just like my desk at work, it's MY mess and I know where EVERYTHING is!
Sheila, how true that is ... the "cheaper after the first of the year" thing. I should shop for Christmas one year in advance!! I can't believe we are so close to that time of year again!!! That's funny about Molly I can just picture her little tail and tushy sticking out from under something thinking no one can see her. I sure wish mine were all like that.
I just got back from the vet's office - Maddie is doing great!! I have been rewrapping the leg every day and took out 3 stitches that the vet had left where it wasn't healing real well. It looked as if the stitches weren't really doing anything but irritating and making her chew at the area. So I just kept changing the bandage every day and it is healing beautifully. One tiny spot left - if she leaves it alone, we have success!
Praise the Lord for the good news about Maddie. When 2 or more people ask for something in my name(says Jesus) it will be given to them. Amen!
Skip was pulling his sons motorcycle that was on a trailor, and it fell on him and pinned him down. He has hematomas all up and down his arms and legs since he has been taking blood thinners for years. He is on heavy narcotics now, and is still in there. He called at 6;45 this morning. He MUST be out of it. !! He knows better than to do this kind of stuff. He has the crohns and the pace maker in there too.
Deb, I laugh during half of the service. My Pastor is a riot. He tells it like it is, and pulls no punches. He is so funny. That was great how he went to the work party, and brought back all the food that was left so that we could enjoy it after bible study. His sister is back, so it will be back to the womens bible study now. She is a wonderful person, but she is not Pastor Jimmy. She is his sister. Not as funny as him.....
Ok, so I walked to the zoo today. I have a camera, and neither of us knows how to get the pics off of it. He might need a part for it. It was the original digital from long ago. My new one bit the dust. So, I walked along the zoo watching the crazies in there, and taking pics.
Oh, there were cats everywhere, and 5 black vultures running around in there, with the young one and his top knot. Looks like an orange hunk of feathers. He was skipping around the yard, and one of the vultures was flapping his wings keeping the cats away from Junior. Oh they are not interested.
Then the 2 hens were walking around with what looks like gowns on. They are all colorful, and the 4 roosters were cockadoodle doing, and there was a husband at the zoo too who was doing some raking. yabba dabba doo.
Now, the electric is set up again, and the escapee was getting out of the second yard which was attached to his. Right up and over he went. NOW, I will get him back in, and the extra yard with the umbrella and round picnic table with the little igloo inside the tykes play house, which will have a nice heating pad, will be closed to the public. We have no choice but to rejoin the chain link fence, and it will be a separate yard again, and the other yard is already hooked up with small animal electrical wiring. And the culprit will not be running loose.
Well, that was weird!! First a weird post shows up (I deleted it) and then I am in the middle of a reply here and the page just went back to the discussions. So, as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted ...
I am sorry you were feeling poorly, Ana. You've not been able to join us here as often as before because of your new job, so I just thought that you were busy!! Even though you already feel a bit better - you still deserve some flowers I sure hope you didn't have to work while you were sick
Christine - that computer message ... I sure would like to tell the people at the store that the computer does NOT have a mind of its' own any time I hear, "the computer made a mistake" I find it a terrible state of affairs when people can't even count back change anymore. Sheeeesh!
Donna, I can picture you at "the zoo" Does your camera have a cord with it to plug into the computer? You can get usb cords that are pretty much universal for some cameras - well, I found one for mine when one of the cats ate the end off the one that came with the camera. I'm pretty sure it was the little orange tabby here known as "Punkie" ... she eats everything. We should have called her Mrs. Pac - man. That is awful about Skip - I sure hope he heals ok. Yeah - you know he was out of it if he called you that early!
Hello to any of the other Cat Lovers who might happen to drop in - we'd love to hear from you, too! I have to run, now - check a few more threads ... play a few games ... then it is back to the home schooling. I gave the kids assignments that they are now doing on their own, so I was able to jump in here for a bit. I sort of like this teaching stuff! I will be back in later
Hello Cat Lovers I hope you are all enjoying a nice day today. I didn't get a chance to drop back by last evening ... what a day!! Too busy for me. It is too much cramming into one day when you don't get done with everything until 11:00 pm!!
Donna, I am so glad to hear that Skip will be okay. And thanks re: Maddie.
Hi Phil, Sheila, Ana, Sandrea, Cindy, Kathy ... "and I see" ...
I guess I will be at home today - I hope!!! It is another beautiful November day here, so I will be taking advantage of that and getting the grandkids to help me wash my truck. That's a chore, but I can't use the drive through car washes and don't like the ones where you keep feeding quarters into it so you can spray it yourself - you get like 2 minutes of soapy water and then you have to feed it again ... and again ... and again. I hope you all have a great day!
There is a storm in front of Nicaraguan coasts and because of that, it is raining non-stop...
I wanted to tell you that the last few days a company has been trying to contact me to offer me a position as a quality engineer. I have phoned them back with no luck, the person is always busy or in meetings. My mom at first was so excited because she hates the night shift ( 2pm - 10 pm) however I feel fine here. I appreciate they have devoted time to teach me my reponsibilitites and I feel if I knew everybody since long ago.
I think it is not a good moment to accept another opportunity if this is a good one. Anyways I am sure they are not offering me the job, they are just calling me for an interview.
Here in my company the managers are trying to institutionalize a nice celebration. Here in Costa Rica we do not celebrate Thanksgiving Day however this is an American company. I think T.G.D is a very nice celebration, an opportunity to look at all our blessings and give thanks. The managers have requested the different areas, Planning, Purchase, Warehouse, Customer Service, etc... to decorate and to post in why are we thankful for. It is pretty nice.
Snow is pretty to be in the house watching it come down, however, I go out to different yards, and when I open a gate it shakes the snow off the netting, and I get 12 piles of snow on my head every day. I just hope and pray that I do not get sick from it. The stuff is wet man!!! Then when it is really cold outside, and if there is heat in the house, I walk in, and my glasses fog up. Then I can't see a thing.
Skip is home now. I brought him home yesterday. The hematomas spread all over the place since he was on so many blood thinners. That is why his whole body is bruised.
It was Guy Fawkes Night in the UK last night. Bonfires and lots of fireworks going off - not appreciated by animals and animal lovers! Elsa and Sammie used to go into hiding and I always made sure they were safely in the house before dark. Molly doesn't go out without us, but she's like no other cat I've heard of on GF night - she sits at the window watching the fireworks and the bangs don't bother her at all!
Well, each cat has it's own "purrsonality." I've been the kitty mama to three cats. Ok, so one was my daughter's. But I was the one who fed them and all. It's funny to see each one express themselves in their own way.
I didn't get in earlier on the talk about cats hiding. Once I had to take Angel in. I was holding her to wait for our ride. When he didn't show, I had to put her down to call him. He had forgotten, but said he'd immediately come over. Angel, in the mean time, decided to hide under the bed. Only thing was, her rear end was still sticking out!!
Donna, do you wear a hat when you go out and the snow falls on your head? Just a suggestion...........
Glad Skip is home and on the mend.
Sheila, my niece and some of her friends celebrate Guy Fawkes Day. Don't know why, they're not British, but they do live in San Francisco, home of much strangeness.
Daughter's wedding day is approaching fast (next Sat.) Poor Kim is majorly stressing, she was bawling on the phone with me the other day, afraid to tell her dad she wants her step-dad as well as him to walk her down the aisle. He talked to her for a long time, assured her he's o.k. with it. Turns out it's her mom who's most upset about it - oh, the joys of combined families!
Anyway, it's a beautiful day here, got my potted plants inside for the winter just in time, down to the high 20's at night.
A hat might be a good idea. Better for the hat to get wet than my hair. It is so long that it is a pain to dry, and then have to dry it again at dinner time or if I have to run back out for some other reason.
I am in the hang of wearing shoes now. I would run out to the mail box without them. Now, I can't afford to catch a cold or flu. I have to dig my hats out. They are knitted hats, As a matter of fact, I only need one, so I think I will put them out somewhere for the birds.
The vultures are in the back yard with all the cats and chickens. I noticed they chase the black cats. I guess they think they are just odd looking vultures. I wonder if they are all going to vram into the building. I have some pics if Jimmy gets the cord to hook it to the computer. We had one long ago.
Hi all well still trying to type on hubbys computer and it is a royal pain in the butt. It takes me an hour to just type something. That's why you haven't seen me here but know that I love you all and am racticing this typing. Love you all
Hi everybody! I missed coming in yesterday ... I am having a hard time getting used to organizing lesson plans for the grandkids I don't mind the teaching part ... that is sort of fun to see their little faces light up when they "get" something. But it's the putting together a curriculum that's got me a little frazzled. But, I am getting better with it and I know they are getting more learning attention with me doing this than what they got at school. Sometimes I do feel as if I am in the movie "GroundHog Day" when working with my granddaughter, though. We are doing proper nouns. Uh boy.
I think it is funny how a lot of non animal lovers think that all cats behave in a certain way ... or allanything, for that matter! They do each have their own "purrrsonality" (good one, Christine ) as do dogs and horses and all the animals. No two are ever exactly alike. That's funny - your kitties playing ostrich
So, I am checking in at care2 and the kids are doing assignments and hubby is still balancing the checkbook - this is his 3rd day at it. He has not balanced a checkbook in over 20 years. He decided I needed help with things because of the work with the grandkids (funny how he didn't feel that way when our kids were little ) It will be interesting to see what he comes up with.
Hi Phil, Sheila, Cindy - what is this Guy Fawkes Day? Sorry ... I don't get out much
Donna, I guess pretty soon you will be somewhere under this, huh? I am really glad that I no longer have to go outside to care for any animals in the winter. I take the dogs out, but I don't really have to walk around in it much. Hoping that we are out of here soon, anyway. I just don't do snow. I'm sure glad that Skip was able to come home and hope he is doing much better real soon.
Well, my break appears to be over. Catch you all later.
