Sandi, I am enjoying The Villa so far.

Laura, sorry you're grandma couldn't go. Wouldn't that have been a trip, 3 generations of women in your family on a cruise. Glad you're enjoying your book.

myspace happy birthday graphicsHave a great one Darla. love the picture.

Sandi, thank you so much for the wonderful birthday wishes.

I'm just about thru with The Villa and am loving it.

Your welcome Darla. I ran out of new books to read so I'm reading some of my old ones. I started the India fan by Victoria Holt wrote in 1988. She was also know as Jean Plaidy, Philippa Carr among other names.

Sandi, sorry you ran out of new books to read but glad you have something to read anyway. Do you make use of the library at all? Hope you enjoy The India Fan. I've got some new books to read in addition to my library books and the books on my Kindle. I got the book I won having received it the other day. Then I have all my birthday books. One of the ones I ordered with my Amazon gift card was one I already had so I returned it for a refund. I only returned it b'cuz my frame was broke {the glass in it} so I had to return it for an exchange. Otherwise I would've given it to my friend next door.

I finished The Villa Tuesday night. It was an excellent book and I give it 5 stars.

I started reading Midnight's Kiss by Donna Grant. It's the fifth book in a series about Warriors {immortals with a god in them} and Druids {women with magic}. There are mies which are the good Druids and droughs which are the evil Druids. The mies and the Warriors team up together to fight evil. Each Druid has a special power as do the Warriors. The books in the series are ~

Midnight's Master

Midnight's Lover

Midnight's Seduction

Midnight's Warrior

Midnight's Kiss

And the summary is ~

The Dark Warriors are taking their battle from ancient Scotland to the modern world-where a woman's love can set them free.Bound by the gods. Champions against evil. The Dark Warriors have taken their battle from ancient Scotland to the modern world-where a woman's love is the greatest danger of all DEEPER THAN DESIRE Dr. Veronica Reid is a world-renowned archeologist whose Druid abilities help her to unearth ancient magical items. The arrival of the all-too-attractive and charismatic Arran MacCarrick puts her on the defensive when he begins to question how she really finds her artifacts until an unknown foe attacks and Ronnie discovers that Arran has a secret as great as her own. Together, they unleash an all-consuming passion that won't be denied STRONGER THAN FATE Immortal Warrior Arran is on a mission to find the spell to bind the god within him. But one look at the impossibly beautiful Ronnie and he knows there is more to her than meets the eye. With danger lurking around every corner and an undeniable hunger that grows with every kiss, Arran must reveal who he is to keep Ronnie from his nemesis. Now he is left with no choice but to fight-or fall-for the woman he loves

Hi Darla~ I'm still reading Elfin by Quinn Loftis. I am a slow reader and take my time to read it when ever I can have some reading time. But I am happy to say that I am enjoying the book and this author is really good at keeping your interest in it. Wishing you a happy 4th of July and hope all is well.

Sally, glad you're enjoying Elfin. It doesn't matter if you're a slow reader as long as you enjoy what you're reading. Glad you think Quinn Loftis is a great author, I'd have to agree based upon the Grey Wolves series. Hope you had a happy 4th. We just relaxed and enjoyed the day. Our celebration was all on the 1st for my birthday so there were no funds left over for a to-do on the 4th. We were all  together though {my son, Ray and I} so that's what matters.

I finished Midnight's Kiss and it was excellent. Another one of those books I didn't want to put down. I give it 5 stars. I found out there's another book, Midnight's Captive, in the series that was just released on the second. My library doesn't have that one so I'm planning on a Suggest a Purchase.

I'm now reading Tall, Dark, Handsome Lycan by Anastasia Maltezos. It's an e-book I got for 99 cents. Here's the summary ~

Leonidis Stefanos…a tall, dark, handsome Lycan who has no place in his life for love.
Every family has their skeletons, but in Leo's case, his family has more than a few.  He comes from a long line of werewolves who have guarded their family secret for centuries.  Now he faces his biggest challenge.  A pretty, small town woman who not only threatens to unveil his dark heritage, she thaws his cold heart and renders his inner wolf uncontrollable with its almost violent need to claim her.
Samantha Hope…a bona fide psychic who sees all men as an open book, expect for one.
All Sam expected was a two week vacation at her best friend’s summer home in Greece.  She never imagined Leo Stefanos, her best friend’s brother would be at the house.  Sam’s alarm is justified.  Leo has always made it clear he dislikes her, even though he’s never even met her.  Immediately after he picks her up from the airport, she is aware of the mounting attraction between them.  She could handle his cold, ruthless side, but this warmer, gentler side of him is threatening to collapse the secure little world she’s built around her.

We too just stayed home and enjoyed the day here. 4th of July is not a big thing to celebrate here or the fireworks. It is more on New year's eve.

Yes, I do enjoy Quinn Loftis' books so far. Amazon just let me know of some other books similar to Quinn's and it is a series called the "Forever Fae" which is the first one and on sale for .99 cents right now. I will leave a description of it. Considering of downloading it to see what it is like.

Forever Fae~He leans down, lips parted, and then our lips connect ... We didn’t know that this one kiss has FOREVER changed the Land of the Fae.
According to the Prophecy proclaimed many years ago, Princess Calista of the Summer Court is destined to change the Land of the Fae from the evil determined to destroy it. Her powers are phenomenal, and she secretly trains for battle with her handsome warrior friend, Merrick, who unbeknownst to her protects her heart as well, in hopes of keeping it for himself. At least, until the seductive Prince Ryder attends the Guardian Ceremony and instantly sends a fire burning through her veins and a connection so deep they both discover a love above anything imaginable.
No one knows how Calista is destined to change the kingdoms, but there is one that does. He not only craves Calista’s power, but her body as well, and his goal is to steal her power, make her his Dark Queen, and take over the Land of the Fae.
Will the evil succeed in claiming Calista’s soul? Or will the two men that fight for her heart save her from despair, and help her fulfill her destiny to become what she was meant to be.

Here is the other two books:

Betrayals of Spring #2

Summer of Frost #3

The first one does say it may contain some graphic language and sexual content. So be aware of that. If I find if I don't like how the first one goes, I won't of course download the second. There was also these other series called, "Witchling Series"  by Lizzy Ford which sounded interesting as well. But I think I remember you mentioning them before, am I right?

Sally, glad you had a relaxing day on the 4th. Someone in the complex set off fireworks depite their being illegal in the city and it freaked out our cats. I felt really bad for the outside cats who had to listen to them up close. I like when Amazon does the "new and like_____" e-mails! The Forever Fae series sounds like it might be interesting. I don't let a little sex deter me from a good book. If nothing else, I skip over the sexy parts! I thought the Witchling series sounded familiar but when I checked on them on Amazon I haven't read them. I've read all but book 7 {and I just bought it} in the Modern Witch series by Debora Geary. It's a great series.

I finished Tall, Dark, Handsome Lycan and really enjoyed it. I give it 5 stars.

I'm now reading Darkness Bred by Stella Cameron. It's second in a new series abouut Fae, shapeshifters, vampires, etc. The books in the series are ~

Darkness Bound

Darkness Bred

And the summary is ~

Ever since shapeshifter Elin escaped to Whidbey Island, danger has stalked her every move. Her human traits, combined with her unique supernatural gifts, make her a prized being to be possessed . . . or destroyed. It is only the passionate attraction she shares with werehound Sean Black that gives her hope for her future-if she can elude the lethal predators who are hot on her scent.
Sean knows that Elin, with her delicate beauty and seductive powers, is his one perfect mate. The woman who can restore his humanity and make him stronger than ever. He'll need that strength and more to protect her from those who wish to destroy him and everything he desires. For Sean carries a secret that binds him to an enemy from the past and to a darker, deadlier force-a malignant evil that is hunting the women of Whidbey Island . . .

Okay, well Amazon has the Witchling series out by Lizzy Ford. Sounds worth checking into.

Dark Summer is book one, I'll put down a description of it.

A school for Witchlings...

The ultimate choice between Light and Dark...

Where the price of a your soul.

Sixteen-year-old Summer doesn’t expect her new boarding school to be any different than the rest: a temporary stay, until her uncontrollable magic gets her thrown out again. In her mind, there’s no point in getting too friendly with anyone. That is, until she notices Decker, the boy who will become the Master of Night and Fire on his eighteenth birthday.

When she learns that this special school has attracted others with magic in their blood, she is hopeful that this time around, things may be different. Besides, she can’t deny her interest in Decker, and when he rescues her one night from the dark forests of the Rocky Mountains, their connection is instant.

Yet a relationship with Decker may prove to be Summer’s downfall, forcing her to choose between Light and Dark, life and death, love – and their souls.

One choice. One soul. One price.

Here is the other two;

Autumn Storm #2

Winter Fire #3

The first two is on sale now at .99 cents on Amazon for Kindle. I think I just may download the first two. It does sound pretty interesting. Yeah, as for the sex parts, if it is too racy, I'll skip over that.LOL. Happy reading Darla.

Sally, let me know how the books of the Witchling series are. I agree they sound interesting. Will have to decide whether or not I'll get them. I have so many books on my Kindle that I haven't read yet that I've been trying to limit what I get. Happy reading to you as well.

Darla~ I feel the same way. I got so many books downloaded to my kindle that I haven't got around to reading them yet. So as we say here in Hawaii "all pau". Pau (pow) which means done, finish. So for now, I need to refrain myself from getting any more books. Sometimes those deals are just irresistable. LOL

Sally, you're so right. Sometimes those deals are irresistable! I am just getting th eones I can't seem to live without! Happy reading to you.

I'm still reading Darkness Bred though I'm almost finished with it. It's very good so far.

I finished Darkness Bred yesterday afternoon and it was very good. I give it 4 stars.

I read Swordfights and Lullabies a short story in the Modern Witch series by Debora Geary. It's about a "reformed bachelor" and his lady love along with the baby that the bacheloor had adopted. It's not very long and you must read the series in order for it to make any sense. The series which is really excellent is ~

A Modern Witch

A Hidden Witch

A Reckless Witch

A Witch Central Wedding {short story}

A Nomadic Witch

A Different Witch

A Celtic Witch

Swordfights and Lullabies {short story}

A Lost Witch

I started reading A Lost Witch this morning.  The series is above. The summary is ~

Hannah Kendrick has spent the last twelve years fighting for her sanity.  And the doctor who has stood by her side has run out of options.
A small computer tracking spell will find Hannah - but can Witch Central save her?
This is the seventh and final book in the bestselling A Modern Witch series, but have no fear - your favorite characters will be back in September with the launch of the Witch Central series.  Lots of witchy love, laughter, and tears yet to come .

Darla~ I finished reading "Elfin" by Quinn Loftis and give it a 5 stars. I love it and wanted to look for the second book as this is a series but guess second book out yet. I could scream! So I guess I will have to wait till she has book 2 out. So for now I am reading a biography book about this Korean girl growing up in Korea back in the 1800's i think. But somehow comes to Honolulu and lives a life there. So far it is interesting. The book is titled "Honolulu" but I don't remember the name of the author. The Modern Witch series sounds interesting.

Sally, glad you enjoyed Elfin so much. Sorry there's no second book out yet. Hopefully it'll be out soon. You could always go to her website, get he re-mail address and contact her asking her when book 2 will be out. Hope you enjoy Honolulu. The Modern Witch series is fabulous. I think you'd enjoy it too. I'm still reading The Lost Witch as I didn't get much reading time yesterday due to a major migraine I was suffering. So far it's excellent.

Sandi, you haven't posted in awhile. Where are you? What have you been reading?

I just finish 3 books by Victoria  Holt. The Mask of the enchantress, Snare of Serpents & The India Fan.

Sandi, my my you've been busy! How were the books? Did you enjoy them? Are they connected to each other? My curiosity must be sated!

I finished The Lost Witch and it was an excellent book. I give it 5 stars.

I've started reading, and am about halfway thru, Let the Dead Sleep by Heather Graham. Heather is one of those authors where I eagerly grab her books without reading the summary b'cuz I know it'll be a fabulous book. Here's the summary ~

An object of desire? Or of fear?  It was stolen from a New Orleans grave-the centuries-old bust of an evil man, a demonic man. It's an object desired by collectors-and by those with wickedness in their hearts.  One day, its current owner shows up at Danni Cafferty's antiques shop on Royal Street, the shop she inherited from her father. But before Danni can buy the statue, it disappears, the owner is found dead...and Danni discovers that she's inherited much more than she realized. In the store is a book filled with secret writing: instructions for defeating evil entities. She'd dismissed it as a curiosity...until the arrival of this statue, with its long history of evil and even longer trail of death.  Michael Quinn, former cop and now private investigator, is a man with an unusual past. He believes that doing the right thing isn't a job-it's a way of life. And the right thing to do is find and destroy this object weighted with malevolent powers. He and Danni are drawn together in their search for the missing statue, following it through sultry New Orleans nights to hidden places in the French Quarter and secret ceremonies on abandoned plantations.  Cafferty and Quinn already know that trust in others can be misplaced, that love can be temporary. And yet their connection is primal. Mesmerizing. They also know that their story won't end when this case is closed and the dead rest in peace once again.

I have almost every book she has written. I reread my books. They were all 5 stars, and no they weren't connected. I started Mary Burton's  before she dies. so far not as good as the seventh victim  hope it gets better but only read 20 pages.

Sandi, glad you enjoyed the books. Hope the one you're reading now gets better.

I finished Let the Dead Sleep and it was excellent. I give it 5 stars. I'm really hoping there's another book to come making it a series or at least a trilogy.

I'll be reading The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley next. Here's the summary ~

Two Women. One Mysterious Relic. Separated By Centuries.

Nicola Marter was born with a gift so rare and dangerous, she kept it buried deep. When she encounters a desperate woman trying to sell a small wooden carving called "The Firebird," claiming it belonged to Russia's Empress Catherine, it's a problem. There's no proof.

But Nicola's held the object. She knows the woman is telling the truth.

I finished The Firebird and it was a great book. I give it 4 stars.

Next, I'll be reading The Reason is You by Sharla Lovelace. I'm really hoping I like it as the library rating system only gives it 1 star though Amazon's rating  system gives  it 5 stars. I'm sure it's at least somewhere in the middle but we'll see. Here's the summary ~

"In the small town of Bethany, Texas, Dani never fit in. Being different pushed her to the fringes of society, and even leaving town for two decades didn't stop the talk. Now she's back, trying to settle in with her daughter and have a normal life. But the men in her life might not make it that simple. First, there's her old friend Alex. He's mischievous, sexy, and still hot enough to melt her shoes. And he's a ghost--a real one, who's always been there for her when she most needed him. Of course, there are actual men in Bethany, too. Like Jason with his hard body. Dani seems to have a habit of running into him--literally. Now she must decide between a man who long ago touched her heart and a man she can actually touch..."

Hi Laura~ Good to see you back. Hope you had a nice trip in Alaska.

Hi Wendy~ I'll have to look up that video later.

Darla~ so far I am enjoying that biography book of "Honolulu". It really takes your imagination of how things were back then and how people were. Especially how the Korean culture was. I don't remember if I gave a description of the book. Basically it is about a Korean girl living in the 1800's period in Korea. She so wanted to learn how to read like her brothers but it was forbidden for the woman to do so. She did learn how ever through a friend of her aunt's when visiting there. Soon the aunt passed away from being sick where she would no longer be able to return to learn more. Then her friend convinces her to sign up to become a picture bride to these Korean men seeking wives in Hawaii. She does get picked and is sent off to Hawaii. From there, life is not what it should've been, a hard life but she is determined to go to school and learn more.

The story is really getting interesting as she is in a different place, learning new ways and the pidgin talk they use there.  Sometimes I find myself staying up late reading this. Okay everyone, happy reading.

Sandi, glad you liked Dead Ringer so much. Hope you enjoy Senseless just as much. I looked them up at my library and it doesn't have them.

Laura, glad you're back from Alaska. You were missed. Hope you enjoyed your trip. HOpe you're enjoying Survival of the Fittest.

Wendy, great to see you here. Thanks for the video. Will check it out after I post. Sorry your book didn't come with tea!

Sally, glad you're enjoying Honolulu. Sounds like it'd be an interesting read. You'll have to let me know how it turns out.

I'm still reading Tarnished and it's coming along fabulously. Sally, I really think you in particular would like the books Silver and Tarnished.

Happy reading. I'm going to try to get to the pool today to do my walking then read in whatever sun is out there.

i had a great time, Darla. We did the land part first, and one of the things we did was go to Denali and go on a Husky homestead Tour and met Jeff King, who won the Iditarod a couple times and we played with some of his puppies. When you first get there, they put the little puppies right in your arms and you cuddle them for a while. The puppies were six weeks old. The ship was really nice. I had a hot stone massage and I finally got a hair cut. It is very good. One of my favorite parts was when Milo said that if the case he was currently working on was any colder, he'd have to wear a fur coat.

Laura, glad you had a great time. I'd love to meet and play with Huskies. I love Siberian Huskies! I've always wanted one but don't think it's fair to have one in Texas where it gets so friggin' hot! It's great you had a hot stone massage and got a good hair cut. Glad you're enjoying your book. That's a funny line.

I finished Tarnished by Rhiannon Held and it was fabulous. I give it 5 stars.

I'm now reading Bound by Moonlight by Nancy Gideon. It is part of a series about a human police officer who falls for a shapeshifter crime lord. The series is excellent and each book builds upon the other. The books in the series are ~

Masked by Moonlight

Chased by Moonlight

Captured by Moonlight

Bound by Moonlight

And the summary is ~

Detective Charlotte Caissie is suddenly sharing drawer space and making local news with her shape-shifter lover, Max Savoie. He’s determined to be accepted by her peers—so how can she ask him to return to his criminal roots to help her solve a complex case?

Working undercover with her partner to find the serial killer who’s kidnapped a colleague’s daughter, Cee Cee is caught between her job and her fiercely possessive lover. I finished reading Bound by Moonlight while at the pool and it was excellent. I give it 5 stars.

Next I'll be reading Darkness Unmasked by Keri Arthur. It's part of a series about Risa Jones who is half werewolf, half Aedh {which is a supernatural being} andthe mysteries she solves. You'll want to read this fabulous series from the beginning. The books in the series are ~

Darkness Unbound

Darkness Rising

Darkness Devours

Darkness Hunts

Darkness Unmasked

And the summary is ~

Half-werewolf, half-Aedh Risa Jones is beginning to believe that the only way to find the keys she's been searching for and save her friends is by dying. And when Wolfgang Schmidt, the lover of her boss at the vampire council, is found dead, her worst fears are confirmed. With the first portal of hell permanently open, the energies of the dark path are leaching into the world.  Searching for Schmidt's killer and the keys at the same time, Risa and reaper Azriel track a shape-shifting spider spirit capable of changing her form into a seductive woman. But when they finally find the second key, the Aedh Lucian snatches it and disappears.  Risa is intent on finding Lucian and fighting him to the death--for in her mind, she knows that neither can remain while the other lives....

My digital camera that I have is really good. I'm not sure how to post pictures here, Darla, you'll need to explain how that's done. I got further in my book today. Someone broke into Alex and Robin's house, but didn't steal anything, so Milo went out to check and everything was all right, even Spike, and Robin was making dessert for Milo and wanted to know what he was going to have and he didn't want any at first, but changed his mind and wanted three scoops of ice cream and lots of chocolate sauce.

I started mine this morning and got about 1/4 of the way thru it. It's pretty good so far.

Laura, okay.

Sugar, glad you're enjoying First Wive's Club. How is it compared to the movie?

I finished Darkness Unmasked and give it 5 stars. It was fabulous and I'm eager for the next book in the series which comes out in November.

I'm now reading Deeply Odd by Dean Koontz. It part of a series about a guy named Odd Thomas who's psychic. He lost the love of his life and is now on the road going where his intuition leads him and solving mysteries keeping bad guys from doing really bad things. The books in the series are ~

Odd Thomas

Forever Odd

Brother Odd

Odd Hours

Odd Apocalypse

Odd Interlude

Deeply Odd

And the summary is ~

The pistol appeared in his hand the way a dove appears in the hand of a good magician, as if it materialized out of thin air. "You think I wont do it right here in the open. But youd be surprised. . . . Youll drop before you get the breath to scream."  " " The truck driver is decked out like a rhinestone cowboy, only instead of a guitar hes slinging a gun--and Odd Thomas is on the wrong end of the barrel. Though he narrowly dodges a bullet, Odd cant outrun the shocking vision burned into his mind . . . or the destiny that will drive him into a harrowing showdown with absolute evil.  DEEPLY ODD  How do you make sure a crime that hasnt happened yet, never does? Thats the critical question facing Odd Thomas, the young man with a unique ability to commune with restless spirits and help them find justice and peace. But this time, its the "living" who desperately need Odd on their side. Three helpless innocents will be brutally executed unless Odd can intervene in time. Who the potential victims are and where they can be found remain a mystery. The only thing Odd knows for sure is who the killer will be: the homicidal stranger who tried to shoot him dead in a small-town parking lot.  With the ghost of Alfred Hitchcock riding shotgun and a network of unlikely allies providing help along the way, Odd embarks on an interstate game of cat and mouse with his sinister quarry. He will soon learn that his adversary possesses abilities that may surpass his own and operates in service to infinitely more formidable foes, with murder a mere prelude to much deeper designs. Traveling across a landscape haunted by portents of impending catastrophe, Odd will do what he must and go where his path leads him, drawing ever closer to the dark heart of his long journey--and, perhaps, to the bright light beyond.

Sandi, your post wasn't here when I began mine. That's such a generous offer and I will keep it in in mind. Right now I've got over 35 library books to read, a new "birthday book",  an e-book from the library, and several e-books including a series of 6 {so far, it will be a total of 9} books  that I just got. I got a series called the Savannah Coven Series about a coven of witches who each face a battle against evil. The first one is $2.99 and the next 5 are $3.99. Ray got a bonus so I was "allowed" to get them. However, I will seriously consider your offer when I get low on my library books.
