Easy letter in link to send. PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!! IT will only take ONE MINUTE OF YOUR TIME.
This is a letter of protest in OPPOSITION to the Resolution submitted to the United States Congress by the NATIONAL CONGRESS OF AMERICAN INDIANS which is in support of horse-slaughter in the United States. In it, they "pray," to the government,..."invoking the blessings of the Great Spirit" upon their efforts, for permission to build horse slaughter plants upon their lands and pray also for a contact with the government to kill wild horses that they claim are "wreaking havoc" upon their lands; Of course it is all a big fat lie! DO NOT believe the hype!
The entire text of the NCAI Resolution is below;
And please crosspost everywhere. THANKS
Do you deny that wild horses in the Americas is an invasive species imported by European settlers ?
Not just Natives should be allowed to slaugter horses for food - everybody should be allowed to be free from the old anglo-saxon taboo against eating horse meat - it is healthy - it is tasty - and its the most respectful way to treat dead horses.
The current ban in the US is nothing but cultural bigotry.
It is hard to imagine any people willfully killing their animal counterparts, especially under the guise of eco-stewardship. We know that the slaughter of many species is now occurring-it is a global phenomena. In the big picture, we white Amerikans have been and currently are the best of the bloodthirsty bunch. Don't forget that it was we, the anglo-saxons, that destroyed the Native mainstay-the Buffalo-and other forest creature, as well as their culture, their way of life.
I would find out more about the "havoc" claimed as a reason for the proposed slaughter houses; perhaps their is truth to the claim. Also, perhaps their is a workable alternative to slaughter, like taking a few wild horses home with you and caring for them, or establishing a public space for their care. We have done this for other critters with some success.
This of course would be imposing our values on the operations of others on their sovereign land-the Indian Nations-and so, do we wish to interfere?
It is their Karma; it is our Karma apparently to let them know our sentiments...and then back off... We have "interferred" enough already!!!
I will support this petition out of desire to oppose devaluation of life. Just as I oppose the death penalty or abortion, or all the blood-sports that incite cultural violence. I would otherwise be cautious about protecting national sovereignty everywhere.
What we have here is a moral and ethical dilemma.
Jack.
