Secretary Gates, we urge you to reconsider the timing of your proposal
to send an additional 17,000 troops to Afghanistan. We do not want to
see Afghanistan turn into another Iraq...Please exhaust all other
options first

No New Troops To Afghanistan End War and Occupation Bring all the Troops Home NOW!
The
Troops Out Now Coalition condemns the recent announcement that
President Obama has ordered 17 thousand more troops to Afghanistan.
The people voted overwhelmingly for an end to war and occupation. The
world demands that it end. Most importantly, the people of Afghanistan,
Iraq, and Palestine demand that it end.
To send more U.S.
soldiers to Afghanistan amidst new revelations of U.S. military war
crimes, and at a time when working people here a facing an
unprecedented economic crisis is an outrage. Every day, thousands are
being laid off or thrown out of their homes - we need money for housing
and jobs, not for war and endless occupation.
Escalating the
war in Afghanistan is a betrayal of the faith that the people put in
the new president to stop Bush's war on the world.
We must continue to mobilize to demand:
No new troops!
Immediate withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Iraq and Afghanistan
Money for Human Needs Not War!
Join the Troops Out Now Coalition and many other groups at the March on the Pentagon, Saturday March 21 and the March on Wall St. April 3 &4
The National Campaign for
Nonviolent Resistance (NCNR) is planning a protest at the U.S.
Justice Department on November 10th. Its members are willing to risk
going to jail to urge the indictment of Bush and Cheney for war
crimes. The very least the rest of us can do is to contact the
Justice Department and urge Attorney General Mukasey to meet with
NCNR.
In September organizers from NCNR sent a letter to
Mukasey urging the indictment of Bush and Cheney and requesting a
meeting to discuss the matter. Mukasey has not responded. Please sign this
petition, which will send an email to Mukasey asking him to meet
with NCNR.
Then mark November 10, 2008, on your calendar and plan to either phone
the Department of
Justice or join us at the protest there at noon. The phone numbers
are 202-514-2000 and 202-353-1555. Stay involved in the campaign to convict Bush and Cheney.
After more than three years of grassroots pressure from true
patriots like you, Congress finally took step 1 towards
impeaching George W. Bush for his High Crimes by holding a "non-impeachment
hearing" last Friday.
Witnesses led by Dennis Kucinich, Elliot Adams, Rocky Anderson,
Bob Barr, Vincent Bugliosi, Bruce Fein, Maurice Hinchey, and Elizabeth
Holtzman presented an overwhelming case for impeachment.
Watch the individual videos and the wrap-up by
American News
Project.
Most of the Democrats who attended the hearings were
excellent . If one of these is your Representative, or if you
contributed to their campaigns, please call 202-224-3121 to thank them for
supporting impeachment: Dennis Kucinich, Robert Wexler, Tammy Baldwin, Keith
Ellison, Maurice Hinchey, Sheila Jackson-Lee, and Hank Johnson.
Chairman John Conyers insisted it was not an "impeachment
hearing." But he also said, "I believe the evidence on these matters is both
credible and substantial and warrant the response of the executive branch,
under oath if at all possible... Let me add, we are not done yet, and we
do not intend to go away until we achieve the accountability that Congress is
entitled to and the American people deserve ."
And by the end of the hearing, even the see-no-evil Republican
witnesses admitted Congress should consider impeachment. So what stands in the
way of real impeachment hearings?
1. 228 Democrats (and 199 Republicans) who have not
co-sponsored Articles of Impeachment against George Bush.
Tell your Representatives to co-sponsor Rep.
Kucinich's 35 Articles of Impeachment: http://democrats.com/35-articles-of-impeachment
2. Key Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee who do not
support impeachment.
a. Impeachment Hamlets: Bobby Scott, Zoe Lofgren, and Jerry
Nadler believe Bush committed impeachable offfenses, but they are terrified to
support impeachment. Call them to find out why they can't make up their minds:
http://www.causecaller.com/wiki/Judiciary_Impeachment_Hamlets
b. AWOL Democrats: These members showed their contempt for the
Constitution (and their constituents) by not even attending the July 25 hearing:
Howard Berman, Rick Boucher, Artur Davis, Bill Delahunt, Luis Gutierrez, Linda
Sanchez, Betty Sutton, Maxine Waters, Anthony Weiner. Call them to find out why
they failed to do their jobs - and when they will support impeachment:
http://www.causecaller.com/wiki/Judiciary_Impeachment_AWOL
c. Impeachment opponents: Adam Schiff, Debbie Wasserman Schultz,
and Mel Watt believe none of Bush's High Crimes are impeachable. Call them to
find out why they have betrayed their Oath of Office: http://www.causecaller.com/wiki/Judiciary_Impeachment_Opponents
3. House Democratic "Leaders" who oppose impeachment: Speaker
Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Caucus Chair Rahm Emanuel, Whip Jim
Clyburn, and DCCC chair Chris Van Hollen believe impeachment would hurt
Democrats in November. Call them to say serious impeachment hearings will expose
Republican High Crimes and help Democrats at all levels: http://www.causecaller.com/wiki/Democratic_Leaders_Should_Impeach_Bush
4. The Corporate Media
Despite six hours of in-depth hearings, there was no
substantive coverage in any Corporate Media outlet. Call
your favorite TV/radio talk shows and write to your favorite newspaper to demand
coverage of impeachment.
Your hard work has resulted in Congress cracking open the door to impeachment, justice, and peace. How can you keep it open?
A lot of us have our own favorite impeachable offenses - mine is the
Iraq war - but a lot of them are not about to go anywhere in Congress.
The impeachable offenses that appear to have the most traction among
congress members (i.e. very little) are:
1. The numerous violations of laws combined with the announcement of
the intention to violate those laws through signing statements. (I say
it in this longwinded way, because just abbreviating it to "signing
statements" allows people to pretend to miss the point.)
2. The numerous refusals to comply with requests, subpoenas, and contempt citations.
It has always been predictable, and predicted, that these would have
the most traction (because nonpartisan, non-controversial, no
congressional complicity, no investigation needed, clearcut and
simple), and it has become clear that - as predicted - they DO in fact
have the most traction.
We'd all LOVE to nail these fascist bastards for our favorite
offenses, but we'd also all HATE for them to get off scott free,
thereby establishing a precedent for future presidents; and when they
nailed Al Capone for tax fraud everybody understood exactly why they'd
done so.
What is needed is pressure on every member of Congress to themselves pressure Conyers, including by signing Wexler's letter at http://wexlerwantshearings.com
So, please call your Representative every day at (202) 224-3121, focus
on the issues that have the most traction, and urge them to ask Conyers
to hold a real impeachment hearing. Remember that in an impeachment
hearing the excuse of "executive privilege" is not allowed. A subpoena
must simply be obeyed or those who refuse to obey it can be impeached.
Of secondary value is trying to get your Representative to introduce
new articles of impeachment or new resolutions calling for impeachment
hearings. So, any lengthy communications with your Rep should include
that ask.
The third most important thing to do is to contact media outlets and urge them to cover impeachment, and contact polling companies and urge them to poll on impeachment.
The fourth most important thing to do is to support pro-impeachment candidates
for Congress and make certain the incumbents know about it. Don't just
send a check. First send a photocopy of it to the incumbent letting
them know why they aren't getting one.
Now is the time to move on this with everything we've got. We've opened the door and must not allow it to close again.
Please go to the original place where this was posted,
( http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/node/35070 )
but note that I put this here as it does make sense to focus on one
main thing that might get more backing by our "representatives".
Lots more can be found on the numerous posts here: http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc.html?gpp=5103&pst=744610
and when you go there, scroll down and you will find among other things
how you can send a FREE online fax and phone numbers and email
addresses, etc, etc.
Plenty of video of the hearing or whatever you want to call it having to do with executive power can be found at youtube.
The garbage coming out of some of our "representatives" mouths was totally digusting and we must make it clear we will NOT be shoved aside and ignored.
Get organized, get everyone you know and flood those scum with emails, faxes (which you can send online for free at http://faxzero.com(fax numbers can be found below), calls and letters and visits.
It's time to step it up, we need REAL IMPEACHMENT HEARINGS AND THESE SCUM ARE NOT KINGS AND SHALL NOT BE ALLOWED TO IGNORE THE LAW.
Just emailed every email that Laura lists below, I only got back 6 could not deliver messages, I will update which ones and try to find the new ones when I can.
Please search out and call and email and write and visit as many as you can, media is the only way to reach the masses and we CAN get them to report more than they are now, it just ntakes a sustained push.
Media Contacts, Please ask them to cover the hearings July 20, 2008 9:20 AM
America needs to know... From ImpeachForPeace
CQ said of Conyers' hearings:
The anticipated hearing would review more than a year of committee
inquiry into such matters as the firing of U.S. attorneys, the leak of
the identity of former CIA operative Valerie Plame and the information
provided to Congress in the run-up to the Iraq War.
Kucinich has promised a surprise foreign official as a witness in the
hearing. His article focuses on administration claims that Saddam
possessed WMD in the run-up to the Iraq war, and that there was a
connection between Hussein and 9/11.
Impeachment on the House floor TODAY July 10, 2008 11:42 AM
Impeachment on the House floor
TODAY
Dear Friends,
Congressman Dennis Kucinich will present a single Article of Impeachment to
the House of Representatives sometime between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm (EDT) today,
Thursday, July 10th.
Sessions of the House of Representatives are
broadcast live on C-SPAN (check your local cable listings for channel) and
streamed live via the Internet (www.cspan.org).
The article of
Impeachment will deal directly with President Bush fraudulently obtaining
support for an attack on Iraq by creating a false case for war. Full details of
the Article of Impeachment will be available after they are read on the floor of
the House by Congressman Kucinich.
Please spread the word and continue
to circulate the online petition that Congressman Kucinich will personally
present to members of Congress.
One more Congress member, Rep Farr, Sam [CA-17] just signed on as co sponsor to the articles of impeachment of Bush, that is because of all of us, so let's keep going, the more that co sponsor, the more there are that will join in.

I just received the following. Please join me in responding.
Dear Carole,
Last Thursday the largest
newspaper in my congressional district - the South Florida Sun-Sentinel
- published an editorial lambasting my enthusiastic support for
immediately holding impeachment hearings for President George W. Bush
and Vice President Dick Cheney. Numerous letters to the editor have
also criticized my support for this movement.
Below, you'll find the original Sun-Sentinel editorial, followed by my response, which was printed yesterday.
I assure you that I will not back down from this
fight no matter the consequences or political cost. The only thing
that maters is that we deliver accountability for the Bush Cheney
Administration and defend our government and our constitution.
If you would like to write a letter to the Sun Sentinel, you can email letters@sun-sentinel.com.

Articles of
Impeachment
Dear Friend:
Under circumstances that can best be described as "suspicious," the www.kucinich.us website was crippled early this morning a few
hours after Congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced 35 extensively documented
Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush.
If you would like to show your support for the Congressman's efforts, please
go to myinfo.kucinich.us to offer your comments and provide us with
contact information so that we can continue to keep you informed.
Thank you Committee to Re-Elect Congressman Kucinich

Here are some things you can do...
CALL CONYERS and PELOSI TO DEMAND IMPEACHMENT...
Here
are the numbers for them both, remind them of their DUTY to put
impeachment into action and remind him impeachment is NOT too late as
it is never too late to uphold the law and it is never acceptable to
claim there are not enough votes....it is not their job to say there
are or are not enough votes, it is his job to uphold the
law.............them saying they will not uphold the law is like a cop
saying he won't arrest a murderer because a jury may not convict. Also
that lame excuse that it will divide the country or stop the government
doing their job is a lie, since the government isn't doing their job
NOW and also everything and I mean everything hinges on us having the
rule of law functioning.
We have enough evidence on video tape
with bush ADMITTING to impeachable crimes, same with cheney, we could
impeach BOTH in ONE DAY.
Please call Pelosi's office to demand she get out of the way of justice: San Francisco Office: 415-556-4862 DC Office: 202-225-4965

of Dennis introducing articles of impeachment against Bush, this is the
only vid on there now, longer ones might be coming, but this shows HIM
doing HIS job, WE MUST DO OURS by pushing this into action! Call and
Now the Senate has PROVEN Bush (and others) intentionally lied us into war.
Repeat....THE US SENATE HAS PROVEN BUSH LIED ON PURPOSE TO GET US INTO AN ILLEGAL WAR.
Impeach them.
Read: "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder" by Vincent Bugliosi
or any of a HUGE growing pile of books that clearly state we have enough evidence right now to impeach in no time.
Or, charge him and Cheney and Rice and the rest with murder.
Or,
continue to sell your soul and sell out the United States and sell out
the innocent Iraqi's and sell out the world so that you can cozy up to
the power structure.
We pay you and lend you the power you have
ma'am to protect our Constitution, not to comfortably rub shoulders
with murderers and war criminals.
All the people that died in WWII did so to protect us from a tyrant.
To not impeach is to spit on their sacrifice and nullify everything they and so many others gave.
Stand up for this country, our Constitution, the people, the rule of law and the world.
PLEASE
folks, if we don't impeach we will NEVER get control of our government
again and ALL issues from rights to animals to health to environment
will mean NOTHING.

Thanks to all of
your efforts, Congress has defeated a bill to fund the war in Iraq for the first
time in 5 years. The Republicans and cautious Democrats in Congress have been
caught by surprise; they underestimated our influence on Congress to end the War
in Iraq while supporting the Troops. Now the Senate will take up the funding
bill.
Heads in Washington, D.C. must be spinning; don't let them catch
their breath! Call both your Senators now--202-224-3121-and tell them to vote NO
on the supplemental war funding bill.
Alert: 4,000 Deaths - 435 Town Halls March 24, 2008 10:11 PM
In April, Congress will vote to give George Bush another $102 billion blank check for Iraq - unless we finally persuade our Representatives to Just Say No.
One
of the best ways to persuade a Representative is to hold a Town Hall
Meeting and fill the hall with people who care and are willing to speak
passionately. That gets their attention!
(Another way is to turn out a crowd for a Town Hall that your Representative is
already scheduled to attend. You can follow the appropriate
instructions below.)
So we're asking the 500,000 members of Democrats.com to organize Iraq Town Halls in all 435 Congressional districts. It takes just two reliable activists to get started - can you help?
Here are the basic steps for planning the Town Hall:
Now, he is no longer on the watch. And they are absolutely planning to
start a war with Iran and World War 3. And they are absolutely planning
on doing it before the next general election. Indeed, they will

Simply demonstrating is not enough. Carry the sign for organizing an effective, legal, non-violent "refusal to participate" in defense our Constitution, our heritage, and our freedom.

Vermont to vote on arresting Bush and Cheney February 21, 2008 11:39 AM
A new proposal in the township of Brattleboro, Vermont -- authorizing
local law enforcement to arrest Bush and Cheney -- would make this
headline a reality, should either of them step inside the town's
jurisdiction.
Vote to IMPEACH both Bush and Cheney, write your local paper about it, contact your reps about it and get an IMPEACH THEM BOTH!!! cap all at the same time!
We
all gotta get super busy writing, calling, visiting, and emailing our
reps and media, especially media visiting in person with a short fact
sheet on things like impeachment.
That
piece of garbage we have in the White House is going to lie to us and
say the surge worked and we are doing good and spreading democracy and
the economy is doing good and will get better and on and on and we must
counter that with the truth.

Wexler Petition Hits 100,000 But 13 Judiciary Dems Remain Silent December 19, 2007 9:45 PM
Wexler Petition Hits 100,000 But 13 Judiciary Dems Remain Silent
On 12/14, Democrats.com was excited to announce Rep. Robert Wexler's campaign to demand impeachment hearings for Dick Cheney. Wexler's goal was 50,000 signatures but with your support, Wexler's petition passed 100,000! http://www.wexlerwantshearings.com
Wexler is thrilled with your response, and he will hold a virtual town hall meeting on Thursday at 9 pm ET (6 pm PT) on Florida Progressive Radio with Kenneth Quinnell, co-hosted by Democrats.com. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/fpc
Wexler has the support of two Judiciary Committee Democrats, Luis Gutierrez (IL-04) and Tammy Baldwin (WI-02). Five others are co-sponsors of H.Res. 333/H.Res. 799, Rep. Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment for Vice President Cheney: Steve Cohen (TN-09), Keith Ellison (MN-05), Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18), Hank Johnson (GA-04), and Maxine Waters (CA-35).
But that leaves 13 Judiciary Committee Democrats who
have NOT called for impeachment hearings. These 6 voted to send
Kucinich's bill to Judiciary on 11/6, so they should publicly support
Wexler's efforts: John Conyers (MI-14), Bobby Scott (VA-03), Brad Sherman (CA-27), Betty Sutton (OH-13), Mel Watt (NC-12), and Anthony Weiner (NY-09).
These 7 voted to kill Kucinich's bill on 11/6, so
they need to CHANGE their positions and fulfill their oath of office to
defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies,
foreign AND domestic: Howard Berman (CA-28), Artur Davis (AL-07), William Delahunt (MA-10), Zoe Lofgren (CA-16), Jerrold Nadler (NY-08), Linda Sanchez (CA-39), and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-20).
If you are represented by any of the 13 Democrats
listed above, please join your local Congressional District Impeachment
Committee (CDIC) and plan local actions like letters to the editor,
district office visits, birddogging, honkathons, and collecting
petitions and personal letters on the streets: http://democrats.com/cdic-find
With Your Help, Chris Dodd Wins Temporary Victory on Warrantless Wiretapping
Immediately
after stealing the White House in 2001, Bush and Cheney told the
telecom giants to wiretap ALL phone calls and emails of ALL Americans -
even though it was completely illegal under FISA, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
Only one company, Qwest, chose to follow the law. In true mafia fashion, Bush and Cheney punished Qwest
by denying it contracts and prosecuting its CEO, Joseph Nacchio, for
alleged securities fraud. The other companies willingly broke the law,
and now face 40 civil lawsuits from outraged customers. So Bush is
desperate to get Congress to grant the telecoms full immunity for the
crimes he coerced them into committing.
In October, Senator Chris Dodd promised to filibuster the immunity bill. Harry Reid betrayed Dodd and all of us by pushing a vote on telecom immunity. On Monday, Dodd fulfilled his promise, and Democrats.com
and other blogs generated over 500,000 emails to Congress in support of
Dodd's filibuster. Key Democrats supported Dodd's filibuster, and Reid
was forced to reschedule a vote in January. Watch Dodd's thank-you
message: http://chrisdodd.com/blog/chris-dodd-comments-after-fisa-victory
Of course nothing will stop Bush and Cheney from creating a fascist dictatorship, and they will put immense pressure on Harry Reid to pass the immunity bill when Congress returns. So let's keep a steady flow of emails to Congress opposing telecom immunity: http://www.democrats.com/peoplesemailnetwork/114

Friday is Iraq Moratorium Day #4
As we celebrate the Holidays, let us keep in our hearts those with less reason to celebrate:
* The 150,000 troops trapped in a grinding, senseless war, half a world away.
* The mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, children, grandparents, sisters and brothers of the nearly 900 troops dead in Iraq this year, who face a holiday they know they will never again share with those loved ones.
* The people of Iraq,
with more than a million of their own loved ones dead, millions more
living as desperate refugees in foreign countries, and all trying to
survive the devastation of nearly five years of occupation.
Please remember them all this Friday, Dec. 21, by
breaking with your daily routine and taking some action, by yourself or
with others, to end the war.
Rep. Wexler Wants Impeachment Hearings for Cheney December 15, 2007 6:13 PM
Rep. Robert Wexler (FL-19) and two other Democrats on the
House Judiciary Committee - Luis Gutierrez (IL-04) and Tammy Baldwin (WI-02) -
today called on the committee to begin impeachment hearings for Vice
President Cheney.
They declared, "The charges are too serious to ignore. There
is credible evidence that the Vice President abused the power of his office, and
not only brought us into an unneccesary war but violated the civil liberties and
privacy of American citizens. It is the constitutional duty of Congress
to hold impeachment hearings."
The three Democrats wrote an op-ed to announce their position,
but none of the nation's leading newspapers would publish it - just as they
refuse to include impeachment in their polls, and just as they refuse to publish
their own investigations of the crimes of the Bush Administration. Why? Because
the Corporate Media is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Republican Party, as it
has been since the Reagan Revolution of 1980.
So this important announcement was made on a Blogcall hosted
by Democrat.com, and was covered by progressive blogs -
the only news media that serves the people, not the Corporations.
You can read the full op-ed at Rep. Wexler's new site - http://wexlerwantshearings.com -
where you can also watch a powerful video by Wexler.
Rep. Wexler needs to collect 50,000 signatures to convince his
Democratic colleagues that the American people truly support impeachment
hearings. So please sign his petition: http://wexlerwantshearings.com

More Democratic Betrayals: Join the Democratic Donor
Strike
As Congress once again rushes home for the holidays, our
Democratic leaders are adding to their long list of betrayals.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Harry Reid don't have
the power to pass good bills by themselves, but they do have the power to keep
wretched bills off the floor. But they adamantly refuse to exercise that power,
and instead betray us at every turn.
On Iraq, Pelosi and Reid vowed to end the Iraq Occupation
after voters elected Democratic majorities in 2006. But in May they completely
surrendered and gave Bush a blank check for $124 billion. In September they gave
Bush another blank check for $12 billion, while vowing to block any new funds
until January. But now they are giving Bush yet another blank check for $70
billion.
What is their excuse? Incredibly, Pelosi actually
said, "The assumption I made was that the Republicans would soon see the
light."
On warrantless wiretapping, Pelosi and Reid rushed the
abominable "Protect America Act" through Congress in August, while vowing to
"fix" it in the fall. When Senator Jay Rockefeller's bill gave retroactive
immunity to the telephone companies, Senator Chris Dodd vowed a filibuster. But
Harry Reid is using his power as Majority Leader to undermine Senator Dodd's
filibuster - something he adamantly refuses to do for any Republican
filibusters.
Senator Dodd urgently needs our help immediately to
persuade 41 Senate Democrats to support his filibuster: http://chrisdodd.com/filibuster
Pelosi and Reid have betrayed all the voters - not just
Democrats but also Independents and Republicans - who put Democrats in charge of
Congress to end the occupation of Iraq and restore the Constitution.
It is time for Pelosi and Reid to resign as Democratic leaders
and let real Democrats take over - Democrats who will fight and win, not
surrender.
You can send Pelosi and Reid a message by joining our

- the DCCC and the DSCC. http://www.democrats.com/donor-strike-2007

A candid and revealing interview with House Judiciary Chairman offers insight into the challenges of Impeachment, and possible clues to effective actions we can take.
Expanding The Poster Initiative November 29, 2007 10:00 PM
We now have more than 1000 Impeach Team volunteers divided into teams in just
about every significant city in the America. We have already distributed
nearly 50,000 posters, mostly by priority mail, the entire first
two printing runs, and we take delivery of another 25,000 on Friday.
All the posters you have requested so far have been shipped, and the
last batch of Impeach Cheney? caps for those of you who also asked for
one will go out tomorrow first class.
and we have some strategic suggestions in this alert to share with you to
further expand the initiative in a big way.
First, we now have neat
display trays available, the idea being to put them in book stores, poster
shops and the like to be given away for free. The beautiful four color
posters full size 11x17 posters are something people would like to take
possession of, and for each one we figure that's a very high percentage
chance of getting that person to actually speak out, and some of their
friends as well. Just keep giving them away, we'll print more. Just submit
the new form below and tell us how many tray setups you would like us to
send.
Each tray setup kit comes with 20 poster to start, it's already labeled "Free
Poster" and there are two places where you can put a local phone number if
you like, to recruit additional activists (if the want more posters), and
for the shop owners to call to ask you to come bring more to restock the
trays. But you should also take the initiative to check back with them also
(make sure they keep the trays when they run out).
Second, we have a
printable pdf version of the poster available as a direct download. You can
print these out on your own printer to hand out as flyers (which you would
not want to do with the full size ones), or to post in places where a letter
size sheet should make more sense, or to fill in if you ever run out of
posters. It would be great to start getting out in some high foot traffic
areas of the schools you are covering to do in person flyering. The pdf link
is on the same page as above.
Lastly, we need to revisit the campuses periodically repost the full size
posters, to do the best we can to make sure they stay up. If you have not
done so already, spread out to all college related businesses and ask them to
keep one posted on their premises. And you can use the same form above to
request as many additional posters as you need.
Please coordinate among yourselves, to divide up your territories, and
delegate responsibilities. And PLEASE if at all possible pool your poster and
tray requests so we can drop ship larger quantities in one package which will
immensely help to save on shipping. If you've noticed the postage cost on
the packages you have been receiving you will not be surprised to know that
we've already dropped nearly 10,000 dollars at the post office in shipping on
this. If you live close enough, if you have not done so already, pick a
team leader for shipping and team distribution purposes.
But don't
worry about the shipping costs. We're worried about saving the country much
more than saving money. We are committed to getting you every possible poster
you can get out any way you can. If you can make a contribution of some kind
to help defray of these costs that would be great, and you can do that when
you request more posters and trays. Otherwise, understand that the most
important contribution is to get as many other people as you can to join you
in speaking out.
6,000 letters, we need 10,000................ November 28, 2007 8:53 PM
Dear Friends,
Please pass the word, we have received over 6000 letters to encourage the Speaker of the House to open investigation and impeachment proceedings against Dick Cheney---in affect, allowing HRes 799 (which was HRes 333) to go forward from the House Judiciary Committee.
Pelosi's office has denied the rumor, but that should not mean we abrogate our responsibilities as members of this so-called Representative Republic. This will put the ball back in her court and she will probably miss and fail us again, but that does not mean that WE STOP TRYING!
We are still accepting letters and will deliver them when we reach 10,000, so please forward far and wide, again.
We have received them from all over the nation!
Send the letters to:

Antiwar
activists from across the region will gather in front of the Israeli
Mission to the U.N. in NYC on Tuesday evening November 27 to protest
the Annapolis “Peace” conference. We are protesting because the meeting
has more to do with strengthening President Bush’s war in Iraq and war
plans against Iran, than attaining justice for the Palestinian people.
Counter protests against the Annapolis meeting are also taking place in Boston, Los Angeles, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
The
following is an excerpt from a statement protesting the Annapolis
meeting that has been signed by 400 antiwar leaders and activist across
the U.S.
Antiwar Activist Support Call for Counter Protest Against Annapolis Meeting
As
an anti-war movement, we must ask ourselves: Can we allow the war
criminals, who time after time have callously ignored the anti-war
majority in the U.S. and globally, to get away with this outrageous
farce?
Some
may be confused about the purpose of the Annapolis meeting, so let’s
speak plain truth: It isn’t really about peace and justice for the
Palestine–it’s about deception, occupation and war. It’s about
isolating popular forces and countries that reject U.S. rule. It’s
about attempting to force new concessions on the Palestinian people,
while attempting to normalize relations between Saudi Arabia and other
Arab governments with Israel. All while Tel Aviv continues its all-out
assault on the Palestinian people. And it’s about preparing for a new
war.
At
this moment, Palestinians in Gaza are being deprived of food, fuel,
medicines and other basic necessities by an economic embargo imposed by
Israel and backed by the U.S. Meanwhile, more Israeli settlements,
roads, walls and checkpoints are being set up in the West Bank each
day. (to get the full statement go to www.TroopsOutNow.org)
I just took a very important action on the VoteToImpeach.orgImpeachBush.org website:
I sent a letter to Congress demanding that my representative support
House Resolution 333 for the impeachment of Dick Cheney.
I
thought you might be interested in sending a similar message to the
Congressional Representative in your District. I urge you to take
action yourself and spread the word! Thank you Felicta
This week the Cheney White House retaliated for not immediately getting another 196 billion in emergency Iraq occupation bucks no strings attached, by threatening to furlough 100,000 Army and Marine Corps civilian employees in this country.
The Democrats passed a funding bill with some relatively flexible requirements for a troop withdrawal goal, but it was blocked by yet another mean-spirited Republican filibuster.
The fact is that the Pentagon has plenty of money for all the troops to do whatever they want, but a lion's share of all appropriations are now going to private mercenary militias like Blackwater. There are as many so-called "contractors" in Iraq as regular members of our armed forces. Has anybody suggested cutting back on any of them? Maybe it's time somebody did.
We spend billions of dollars training our armed forces. And for what? So that they can leave to go to Blackwater, who then sell their services back to us at a massive markup, as much as 10 times as much. What kind of crazy fiscal insanity is that?
With their furlough threats, they are literally holding our entire military civil service for ransom! The only way to REALLY support our troops is bring them home now, just as the overwhelming majority of American are demanding, and as you can demand again now.
This is like the grinch on steroids. They should be bringing our troops home for the holidays, not punishing the families of those who serve by laying them off, in some sick attempt to put political pressure on Democrats responding to the wishes of the American people who want an end to the criminal Iraq debacle.
The American people have figured out that all these hundreds of billions of emergency appropriations, year after year, are not going to, and have never gone to, support our troops. Instead they have been piped directly into the pockets of crony war profiteers, as enabled for example by the tag team of Cookie and Buzzy Krongard, one impeding investigations of Blackwater crimes, and the other sitting on their board.
And yet, every time someone tries to impose some accountability on this gross embezzlement of the U.S. treasury, they threaten to starve our real troops, their families, and send them into urban combat without even protective armor.
Oh, but it gets worse. In many ways, this is just another form of foreign outsourcing, as now we learn that many thousands of these "contractors" are goons that Blackwater is recruiting from countries like South Africa and Chile. Then when they open fire on and mow down innocent civilians, they claim there is no law or jurisdiction where they can be prosecuted for their war crimes. And they have an edict from former U.S. viceroy Paul Bremer to back them up, along with immunity handed out like candy by our state department.
These mercenaries are poison for our own military. They decimate the morale of our troops who see them getting rich for doing the same duty as they are, while better equipped. They then further even decimate the ranks of our troops, by offering them deals to leave the service which our own military can't compete with, using our own money to do it. And Blackwater and their ilk are poison for any mission we thought we had in Iraq, when one of their foreign thugs murders another Iraq civilian in cold blood just for the hell of it.
Tell Congress to end all mercenary contracts now. The privatization of the military is absolutely the worst possible thing for democracy and peace. It makes endless war a corporate imperative.
And once we stop fighting wars for the bottom line of crony corporations, we can bring our troops home once and for all, until they are needed for a real international crisis, not one created for the profit of war criminals.
Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed to be ours, and forward this alert as widely as possible.
Can you write a letter real quick? November 22, 2007 11:27 PM
Please?
Cindy asked everyone to and I'm guessing she didn't get nearly enough so PLEASE just write a simple letter and drop it in the mailbox ASAP.
Thanks, Rats
Dear Speaker Pelosi……IMPEACH DICK CHENEY It has been rumored that Nancy Pelosi would put impeachment back on the table were she to receive 10,000 hand written letters encouraging her to do so. Whether this is a true statement or not we feel it would be a very powerful message to send the speaker and congress. Help us take thousands of letters to Nancy. Lets make this action our Miracle on 34th st. Our holiday present, accountability and justice.
Dear Friends Instead of sending your Impeachment letters for Dick Cheney to Nancy Pelosi's office, send them to my office so we can get an official count.
Please send them to:

Dear Speaker Pelosi,
I am writing to urge you to support House Resolution 333, Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Richard B. Cheney. Please consider your constitutional duty to step forward to protect our democracy from further harm.
The heart of the current crisis is a Constitutional one. The American people elected a democratic majority to restore our system of checks and balances, the rule of law, and our international standing as an exemplar of democratic leadership and values in the world community. It has become clear to an ever-increasing majority of the American people that the President and Vice President are actively opposing progress in these endeavors.
To date, the evidence of impeachable offenses is overwhelming: the Bush administrations' use of illegal wiretapping and other forms of electronic surveillance, violations of the U.N. Torture Convention and the Geneva Convention, torture and extraordinary rendition, signing statements, and war lies. These activities individually and certainly collectively warrant a complete immediate investigation by the Congress.
As Speaker of the House, you can play a pivotal role in restoring our constitutional rights and preventing further abuses of power by the Executive branch by supporting HR333. Please don't betray us.

ACTION Alert: 81 Out Of Iraq Signers in Congress, HELP Us Get More September 23, 2007 12:51 AM
ACTION Alert: 81 Out Of Iraq Signers in Congress, HELP Us Get More
It's Time To Draw A Line In The Sand In Iraq
NOW IS THE TIME TO RALLY AROUND THE INITIATIVE TO GET OUT OF IRAQ
The most remarkable thing about the Petraeus coached testimony on the status of the failed occupation of Iraq was Republican senators using their hearing time to TESTIFY THEMSELVES about the good news and wonderful progress there. Why was he even there if only to have words put in his mouth, not just by the White House but by Congress itself?
According to every impartial judge, like the GAO, the truth is that there has been NO reduction in violence and the situation continues to deteriorate.
But finally now, at least in the House, there is a growing movement to finally have Congress put its foot down and say no more. As of today, 81 members of the House of Representatives have signed on to a letter drafted by Out of Iraq Caucus Chairs Reps. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA), Barbara Lee (D-CA), and Maxine Waters (D-CA), to the White House, declaring that they will appropriate no more funds for this war except to redeploy and protect our troops.
This is the best opportunity we've had so far to rally around an
initiative, to thank those who have already joined in, and to
encourage all others to sign on as well.
There can be absolutely no doubt that when we speak out in sufficient numbers, Congress ACTS. This was proven yet again a small while back when a million people (many perhaps not even citizens) demonstrated against an immigration bill, and within 24 hours it was dead on arrival in the Senate. Who could witness that and seriously maintain that Congress won't listen to us? Any such thought is a insidious lie, promoted only by sad defeatists and those who would con us out of our own participatory democracy.
OUR VOICES DO COUNT WHEN WE USE THEM!
As demonstrated by the recent drop of the popularity of Congress ANOTHER 3 points to 11 percent (in a passively conducted poll), you are not alone in being dissatisfied or even angry about what's going on in Washington. At the rate they are going they may have a ZERO percent popularity rating by Christmas. But what most of the currently remaining 89 percent have NOT yet done is SPEAK OUT ACTIVELY to demand policy change. That is the only thing that moves Congress. They know how unhappy we are. They are just waiting for enough of us to tell them what to DO.
So even if you are already speaking out, and we are asking ALL of our participants to make it their particular mission to not only submit the action page in this alert, but please also use the friends section of that action page to invite everyone else you know to do the same thing. Only if we mobilize every possible voice can we expect Congress to comply with our demands, because until we MAKE that demand in larger numbers there is nothing for them to be expected to comply with.
Time and again we heard Democrats last week calling for Republicans to have the courage to vote for the end of the occupation. But where is THEIR courage to cut off funding, except for the purposes of ending an occupation that can never succeed? There is NO courage that does not come from us, from our voices telling them they have more to fear in the coming primary and general elections from an angry electorate, than they have to fear from being called a name by a cable news TV talking fluff head.
WE MUST SPEAK FOR THE TROOPS WHO CANNOT SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES
Is there anything more despicable than members of Congress stuffing words in the mouths of our troops who are NOT allowed to speak out for themselves? Have you ever heard the military expression, "Permission to speak freely, sir?" Our military personal are PUNISHED for speaking out against this insane war policy. They are demoted, fired or worse. The chance of a member of Congress coming within 100 miles of a dissenting soldier in Iraq is about nil. In fact, when they visit the green zone talking points are even distributed about the "good news", to be spoon fed to gullible visitors.
So first they gag our troops, and then a senator tries to tell us
they're all just saying, "Let us win." But to the contrary we know
that if they were allowed permission to speak freely, abused as they are by multiple successive deployments, many of them grossly misused National Guard volunteers, they would overwhelmingly say, "Get us the hell out of here already!"
And soldier or not, nothing excuses the self-serving complicity of
General Petraeus. He is known by his fellow officers as a
It's up to us, folks. Congress is NOT going to do
it without being pushed. We have to speak out in numbers like never
before. WE have to demonstrate leadership they lack, each of us in our
own perhaps small way, by wearing an "IMPEACH CHENEY?" cap to engage
everyone you meet
in a discussion of the issue, and by getting them
to vote in the National Cheney Impeachment Poll, just as you have
already done yourself.
Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories
that are supposed to be ours, and forward this message to everyone else
you know.
If you would like to get alerts like these, you can do so at
Hey folks, Rats here....I have one of those hats, and it does start
conversations, so please get one and do what he's asking of you, we
need to do this as it affects every single person and cause on the
planet.
.Silence, they say, is the voice of complicity.
But silence is impossible. Silence screams. Silence is a
message, just as doing nothing is an act. Let who you are ring out &
resonate in every word & every deed. Yes, become who you
are. There's no sidestepping your own being or your own
responsibility. What you do is who you are. You are your own
comeuppance. You become your own message. You are the
message."
By Monday we will have shipped nearly 10,000 of the
custom embroidered "IMPEACH CHENEY?" caps, and if you are getting this
alert yours has either gone out already, or will with the last giant
second round load to the Midwest and West Coast. People are writing us
asking if we can drop ship caps in quantities of more than one. YES
WE CAN. Please use this form for multiple quantity cap requests.
We are not spending many multiple tens of thousands
of dollars of your kind donations on this project to make some kind of
fashion statement, or frankly even to make a political statement of our
OWN position. We know the path to victory is in getting more people to
speak out, to reach OUTSIDE the circle of usual activist suspects and
mobilize people who may not have been mobilized before for anything.
We NEED you to not only wear your caps everywhere,
but also carry the vote gathering sheets with you EVERYWHERE.
Especially, ESPECIALLY if we sent you one for free, DO SOMETHING with
it.
This is critical, critical, CRITICAL!!! A couple
people have asked why there is a question mark on the cap. It is
BECAUSE it is a poll, the National Cheney Impeachment Poll. The people
we need to reach out to are the uncoverted, those who know in their
hearts that
impeachment is necessary, but have yet to utter
those words to anyone else. Get them to ask the question, and you will
get their vote.
Some of our valiant participants have ALREADY
collected the 200 votes which qualifies you for an Impeach Team varsity
letter (see the second section down on the page above for the voting
sheets). These fancy chenille masterpieces are not for sale. You can
only get one by
your extraordinary achievement as an activist in
getting more people to speak out. The more you wear your cap and carry
the vote gathering sheets with you, the faster you will earn your
varsity letter.
But we are asking each of you who has gotten (or
soon will be getting) your cap to make a commitment to fill up a
minimum of one voting sheet of 20 votes. We have one participant in a
nursing home who is getting all her fellow residents to sign. If she
can do it so can you. Do you want a real impeachment movement or not?
We can create the most magic mobilizing tools, but only YOU can make it
happen by doing everything you could have possibly done to reach out to your fellow citizens.
ALSO TELL DENNIS KUCINICH HOW MUCH YOU APPRECIATE HIM
None of this could possibly be happening without
the stellar leadership and vision of Dennis Kucinich, who despite a
media conspiracy to marginalize him makes more and more sense to the
American people every day with his positions on the issues. If you
would like to encourage Dennis to continue to stand strong in all these
ways, please consider also make a donation to him.
This
week the Cheney regime again tried to argue that the courts should have
no jurisdiction to review their illegal warrantless spying because they
claimed there were "other avenues" for that oversight.
To which a federal appeals court judge responded, "What's that? Impeachment?" That's as close as a sitting judge can get to
calling Congress essentially a gutless bunch of cowards.
And with the exception of Dennis Kucinich, and the other now 20 sponsors of H.Res. 333, to impeach Dick Cheney, so they are.
But that's OK, because there is nothing a cowardly
member of Congress fears more than losing their next election. And
there is nothing that will put the fear of that into their snivelling
hearts faster than citizen activism getting more and more
[send green star]
Put the pressure on Conyers August 14, 2007 10:57 AM
On August 4th, Sheila Jackson-Lee signed on as a co-sponsor to H.R. 333. She is number 18.
It is time to hold Conyers to his word. He has said that congress is a reactive body. On July 12th, the news spread of his statement that he would move forward with impeachment when 3 more members of congress supported it. Since then 4 have signed on as co-sponsors to HR 333. He has said "What are we waiting for? Let's take these two guys out!"
Congress will soon(?) be heading home for a while. So immediate action is not likely, however, with the pressure of meeting daily in congress lifted, this gives us an increased opportunity to have our voices heard. Write to, fax or call House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers daily, if you live near him, or if he is coming to your neighborhood, pay him a visit.

Money for Bridges and Cities, NOT War! Sept 29 in DC August 03, 2007 9:30 PM
"The American Society of Civil Engineers estimates
that the USA needs to spend $1.6 trillion over five years to put its
infrastructure — which includes some 590,000 bridges — in good
condition."
Money for Bridges and Cities, NOT War! Sept. 29 in
DC
On October 1, Congress is scheduled to
authorize over $100 billion for continued war in Iraq, and estimates for the long term costs of the war are over
$2 trillion. Already more than $500 billion has been spent.
Meanwhile,
as the tragedy following this week's collapse of a bridge in Minneapolis reminds
us, we face daily danger from our collapsing infrastructure. This includes, not
only 590,000 bridges, but roads,
rail lines, subways, levees, preparedness for natural disaster emergencies,
schools, hospitals, etc.
Almost five years of U.S. occupation has
destroyed the cities and towns of Iraq, killed more than 1 million Iraqis,
created 4 million refugees (2 million displaced inside Iraq and 2 million
refugees in nearby countries) left 70% of the population without potable water,
electricity, schools or hospitals. Almost 4,000 U.S. GIs have died, many
thousands are injured and maimed.
Billions spent for endless war means that
there is no money to provide more than 40 million people in the U.S. with health
care. It means that our cities are collapsing, our schools are not preparing
our youth, our seniors are abandoned. Only the prisons and police repression are
growing.
JOIN US on Saturday, SEPT 29 in a massive march from
Congress to the White House to demand that the billions spent for War in Iraq be
used to rebuild the crumbling cities of the U.S., rebuild the bridges and the
highways, hospitals, schools, fire stations, utilities, parks, recreation
centers and much more. This would mean millions of jobs and providing those with
new skills.
Join us in a week long Encampment right in front of
Congress(September 22 -29) to expose the real cost of Endless War
and to demand that Congress use its constitutional authority to stop funding the
war.
Despite overwhelming opposition from the people and a clear mandate
to end the war, members of Congress from both major parties have continued to
vote for more funds for the war, while robbing people here, who need money for
healthcare, affordable housing, jobs with a living wage, schools, and much more.
Join with forces who are
demanding funds for the rebuilding of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast and to
demand full rights for immigrant workers. Join with organizers from Healthcare
not War Campaign and with activists calling for the Impeachment of Bush and
Chaney for War Crimes.
Together we will demand Bring ALL the
Troops home NOW!
An Encampment in Los Angeles during the same
week - SEPT 22 to 29 will help to highlight this issue. -
Buses,
vans and cars are coming from around the country and from a city near you.
Momentum for the Encampment to Stop the War (Sept. 22-29) and the March on
Washington (Sept. 29) is growing, with Organizing Centers in 47 cities,
more than 65 buses scheduled and many more expected. The list of
endorsers is growing daily, with more than 1,000 organizations, community
groups and organizers.
Action Alert: IMPEACH Gonzales and the Rest Will Follow August 02, 2007 3:26 PM
Action Alert: IMPEACH Gonzales and the Rest Will Follow
TELL CONGRESS IT'S TIME TO IMPEACH GONZALES
The
White House has ordered the Justice Department not to prosecute
contempt charges against any of its operatives who it had also ordered
not to testify in the first place.
Gonzales
who HAS testified has told so many different stories that were he not
himself the attorney general he would be facing perjury charges right
now.
But
of course even if he were convicted he would instantly be commuted or
pardoned as was Scooter Libby. There is one and only one constitutional
recourse left and that is impeachment. The appeal courts have already
been stacked with right wing judges and they will not intervene. The
solicitor general will not appoint a special counsel. Only through
impeachment can Congress demand a return to integrity.
On
Tuesday, July 31st, Jay Inslee proposed that the Judiciary Committee
pursue the possible impeachment of Alberto Gonzales, who tried to
browbeat a semi-conscious John Ashcroft into signing off on a patently
illegal spying program, who was the point man in doing a legal end run around
the laws against torture, who let the White House dictate which U.S.
attorneys were not sufficiently partisan in their prosecutions, and who
then lied repeatedly under oath about it all.
In
today's Time magazine online article they examined the reasons Bush
still has not dumped such an outright embarrassment of an attorney
general, and the number one reason they cited was that "Bush needs
someone at Justice who's going to watch the White House's back." Of course this is precisely the reason he must be impeached immediately.
If
his only purpose is to shield the Cheney White House from investigation
and exposure of their own crimes he's the firstone who has to go.
For
those focused on impeaching Cheney and Bush we suggest this is not a
distraction. Instead it could be an important strategic icebreaker. To
just get the word "impeachment" past the lips of some members of Congress
has been a major struggle. But our numbers are building fast, and once
the dam breaks, it'll be Katy bar the door to the oval office.
Please
take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed to be
ours, and forward this message to everyone else you know.

bonita, i was just thinking out loud and voicing my anger at how badly bush is ruining (or how well maybe) this country. ya know, i do believe that we were all raised and instilled with the idea that we must obey and respect those in that big white house (& other positions of power & authority). and because of this, i do believe that we, the voice of this country, have been complacent and allowed too much to happen that IS NOT FOR THE PEOPLE & THEIR WELL BEING. to many of us do not think out side of the box. we (some of us) still believe that those folks in power are always right in their decision makings. WRONG! as we have all seen with this madman bush. as ratty said, civil protesting to the point of MAKING OURSELVES KNOWN AND HEARD is what has to happen. if marin luther king could get hundreds of thousands of people to washington, we have to do it again.
bonita, it is all about greed and having power with the billions that you make at the peoples' expense. power is a mighty potent emotion and if you don't know how to handle it properly, your decisions become major catastrophes
ratty, i have signed every petition and every letter that has come out for impeachment for this regime. it is now in the hands of congress. our voices, even enmasse are meaningless to those people on capital hill. short of storming the white house and yanking the fool out of office, we must rely on the powers that be. namaste, sandy

We
would not even have the impeachment movement we have now were it not
for the courageous leadership of Dennis Kucinich in bringing forward
H.Res. 333. If you can make a contribution to encourage him to continue
to stand strong on this issue, and so many others, you can do it
through this page.

Help Give The IMPEACHMENT Movement Visibility
WITH YOUR PARTICIPATION WE CAN HAVE AN IMPEACHMENT BREAKOUT
The
mainstream corporate media would like to pretend that there is nothing
going on, but a 15th member of the House just signed on to Kucinich's
H.Res. 333 to impeach Dick Cheney first. 95,000 people have already
voted in the National Cheney Impeachment Poll, and no matter how many
times Pelosi protests that impeachment is off the table, we can drive it like a truck right through the front picture window. And this is how we are going to do it.
We
have already shipped 6,000 "IMPEACH CHENEY?" caps and we want EVERYONE
who has voted in the Cheney impeachment poll to have one, so that we
can all be in the streets as a real time demonstration of our
mobilization on this issue. A donation is NOT required. We will send you
one for no charge, not even shipping, if you just email us back with
your address and request one. But if CAN make any kind of donation, if
only just a modest one, please submit this form.
Your
donations allow us to run all the blog ads, pay for keeping up the
short code cell phone voting function, where all you have to do is text
the word "IMPEACH" to 30644 to vote Yes for Cheney impeachment. Most
importantly, when you wear one of these caps, everyone you encounter
will ask themselves the question "Should Vice President Cheney be
Impeached," which is the question our democracy must answer.
In
reacting to testimony of Alberto Gonzales yesterday under oath, Time
magazine was moved to write the headline "Gonzales Digs a Deeper Hole".
It would appear the game plan is to try to lie their way through the
next 18 months, to run out the clock until they can all pardon
themselves on the way out the door. But the one revelation that DID
come out of the Senate hearing was that Vice President Cheney, on top
of everything else, had been given unprecedented authority to intervene
in justice department probes.
Just
this last Friday the Cheney White House REFUSED to give a member of
Congress access to the classified portions of two of these recent
presidential directives. They won't even let our representatives SEE
the complete terms of SECRET unconstitutional orders they are rushing to
put in place. So what will it take to get Congress to debate these
things, and actually confront a White House that is now issuing royal
decrees at a record pace in the form of sweeping executive orders that
presume to have legislative weight?
The
last question we CAN answer. What it will take for Congress to act is
for us to get out there, and make the impeachment movement visible, to
engage so many of our friends and neighbors in a discussion of the
issue that we can no longer be ignored. That is what the "IMPEACH
CHENEY?" caps are designed to do. That is why we want
you to have one. Congress will not defy the will of the American
people, but first that will must be expressed. That is our job, to
facilitate the expression of that will. And we accept the job.

In reacting to testimony of Alberto Gonzales yesterday under oath, Time magazine was moved to write the headline "Gonzales Digs a Deeper Hole". It would appear the game plan is to try to lie their way through the next 18 months, to run out the clock until they can all pardon themselves on the way out the door. But the one revelation that DID come out of the Senate hearing was that Vice President Cheney, on top of everything else, had been given unprecedented authority to intervene in justice department probes. Isn't it time to express your opinion on whether Vice President Cheney should be impeached or not?
This is a justice department that is already under a giant shadow for pursuing a partisan political agenda, selectively prosecuting members of the other party while quashing investigations of loyal Bushies. The attorney firing scandal was all about installing political operatives in place of fair prosecutors with integrity. And now we find that Cheney has his hands in that too.
Gonzales said under oath that he found this troubling. We don't know what's more troubling, that Gonzales claims to know nothing about what was going on in his own department, or that he did know and just can't stop lying. But all we are asking you to do is either to vote Yes, or to vote No, on whether Cheney should be impeached. It's your choice. That is what a democracy is all about.
When Bush "commuted" Scooter Libby's prison sentence, and would not even rule out a further full pardon for him, was it to ensure his silence, to keep from implicating his boss Cheney. It was reported that Cheney had pressured Bush to do this. Was this an obstruction of justice and an impeachable offense by itself? It's your call.
When Cheney stood before the American people talking about their intelligence on Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, and they had no such evidence, and they knew it, was that a high crime against the American people, lying us into a war, or not? It's your call.
When Cheney pushed to make torture official U.S. foreign policy, in defiance of the Geneva conventions, was that a good thing for our national security, or did it cost us our moral authority as a superpower? Do we defeat international terrorists by turning ourselves into monsters like they are? Is that not a violation of our own Constitutional prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment? It's your call.
When Cheney worked in the shadows to eavesdrop on American citizens without warrant, despite the fact that a special court had already been established to PERMIT such activity if justified on good cause, was that not a violation of the 4th amendment to our Constitution? Who is it who really hates our freedom? It's your call.
And what will it take to get Congress to debate these things, and actually confront a White House that is now issuing royal decrees at a record pace in the form of sweeping executive orders that presume to have legislative weight? Just this last Friday the Cheney White House REFUSED to give a member of Congress access to the classified portions of two of these recent presidential directives. They won't even let our representatives SEE the complete terms of SECRET unconstitutional orders they are rushing to put in place now.
The last question we CAN answer. What it will take for Congress to act is for you to speak out, just as more than 90,000 of your fellow citizens have already in the National Cheney Impeachment Poll. Congress will not defy the will of the American people, but first that will must be expressed. Should the Constitution of the United States get a fair up or down vote? It's your call.
Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed to be ours, and forward this message to everyone else you know.
We launched our "Orange Revolution" on Monday with the march from Arlington Cemetary to the office of Rep. John Conyers led by Cindy Sheehan.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich wants to put the name of everyone who supports Dick Cheney's impeachment in the Congressional Record!
The
Congressional Record is the official record of the proceedings and
debates of the United States Congress. It is published daily when
Congress is in session and is fully searchable.
Every
day that Congress is in session, Rep. Kucinich will submit 5
single-spaced pages of names with states, which is the daily limit
under House rules. To be included, all you need to do is submit this
petition. http://www.democrats.com/impeach-cheney-congressional-record
This proposal came about on Thursday when representatives of Democrats.com and ImpeachforPeace.org spent the day on Capitol Hill meeting with Congress Members and their staffers. ImpeachforPeace.org
has collected hand-written memorials in support of impeachment,
following a precedent detailed in the Jefferson Manual. The individuals
who have submitted these memorials will also have their names entered
into the Congressional Record.
Our
lobbying efforts found Congress edging closer and closer to
impeachment. Congressional offices expressed growing awareness of
citizen demand for impeachment - and citizen dissatisfaction with steps
short of impeachment, such as issuing more disregarded subpoenas or
passing meaningless censure resolutions.
I personally don't like the democrats any better
than the republicans, but, if it is something I think can help get
something done, as in this case, I don't care who it is, so take a look
at this and decide if you want to do it, I think it can help move us
forward.
Thanks, Rats

Your ad can be the one pressuring Republican Senators in some key states. Submit your script as soon as you can write it!
I've
said it before and I'll say it again: the Republicans are feeling the
pressure for change on Iraq. But I'm not a patient person. Especially
when the lives of our troops are at stake. I refuse to wait around for
the Republicans to move without giving them a little more pushing.
Quite
simply, we want to take an unusual step - and we want to do it early. I
think we need to run radio ads in the states of the Roadblock
Republicans, making it crystal clear that they don't deserve to be
reelected because of their continued support for the Bush Doctrine of
escalation without end. We need to turn up the heat even higher.
It's
the pressure of activists and the voice of the people that have gotten
us this far in the Iraq debate, not the cookie-cutter ads and thirty
second soundbites of Madison Avenue media firms.
So we
decided, why don't we let you speak in this radio campaign? If user
generated content can change presidential debates, I know it can help
change the next election on the most pivotal of issues.
That's
why we're running a contest. We want you to send in a script for a 30
second radio spot (that's about 65 words long), we'll whittle it down
some to the top 20, and then we'll open up the voting to everyone. The
winner that's chosen by the people will be what we air in the states.
And we'll fundraise for the airing of that spot, with each of you able
to choose with your contribution where you think we should run the ad.
No political professionals making the spot, or choosing where to run
it. It's all done by you.
You can make the spot sad, or
satirical, or hard-hitting. Whatever you want to do. You can make it a
personal story from your life (maybe you know someone in Iraq or have a
family member there or maybe you are one of the many veterans in this
community), or you can make a factual case on why voters should
consider someone else because of this issue, or anything else you'd
like. You get it -- it's up to you. And what you do can be the ad that
goes on the air targeting the Roadblock Republicans.
You
have until midnight ET on Saturday August 11th to get your script in,
so get thinking and start writing. And forward this email to everyone
you think might be interested in submitting a radio spot to this
contest. If you know someone who has a way with words and wants to make
a difference, send this along. We'd love to get their scripts.
Thank you, and let's make sure we get a change in course in Iraq very soon.
Good luck,
John Kerry

If it was up to me Bush/Cheney would be impeached, convicted, removed from office, THEN sent to the International Criminal Court at The Hague, where they would stand trial for Genocide and Crimes against Humanity. These 2 are the worst war criminals of the last 60 years. If swinging from the end of a rope was good enough for Saddam, then it's certainly good enough for George & Dick.

Reminder from Davis to call Pelsoi today, everyday, email at end of this video as well. This is to go for several weeks, with emphasis for Sheehan's arrival in DC on July 23. If u have blog pls put it on if u know how. I searched web & many have it up.
In
Maine the Iraq Summer team kicked off its efforts with a rally in the
beginning of July. Since then, Iraq Summer and MoveOn members have kept
up constant pressure— pushing Senator Snowe over the edge.1 She recently signed on as a co-sponsor of the Levin-Reed Amendment to bring most of our troops home by April.
In
Kentucky they staged a protest outside of a speech given by Senate
Minority Leader Mitch McConnell a few weeks ago and made the local
news— proving that voters in Kentucky want our troops home.2 Soon after, they launched a major ad campaign in Kentucky against him. 3 His approval ratings continue to plummet.
Last
week in New Hampshire, Iraq Summer organized a letter delivery to
Senator Sununu's office and added to the pressure he's been feeling on
the war. They made the local news last week and then were at it again
this week, helping out with our citizen counter-filibuster.4
And the field directors are a truly dedicated and impressive bunch.
Susan
D. is a field director in Iowa. She's the mother of an Iraq war veteran
and speaks passionately about the toll that this war is taking on
families across the country.
Jackie R. is a field director in
New Mexico. She's dedicating all her energy to ending the war. Jackie
comes from a conservative Cuban family and will be working in Latino
communities to put real pressure on Representative Heather Wilson and
Senator Pete Domenici to make sure they do more than complain about the
war—they vote to end it.
Joshua L. is an Iraq veteran and
he's leading our work in Illinois. He's concentrating on making sure
Representatives LaHood, Johnson and Kirk start voting with their
constituents to end the war. He's already been making waves at town
hall meetings.5
Can you chip in $25 to help MoveOn and Iraq Summer run the biggest campaign in history to end the war?
Support our member-driven organization:
MoveOn.org Political Action is entirely funded by our 3.2 million
members. We have no corporate contributors, no foundation grants, no
money from unions. Our tiny staff ensures that small contributions go a
long way. If you'd like to support our work, you can give now at:
Just for the record, I don't support MoveOn any more, they cave in and
don't press for the end of the war soon enough, BUT they, just like any
organization can help, so that is why I am sending this, this can help.
Iraq
Summer is the biggest campaign to end the war that's ever been
organized. It's going to present Republicans with a choice: End the
war, or face political extinction. Can you chip in $25 to help make sure pro-war politicians pay a price for keeping the war going?
On
Tuesday night, Republicans in the Senate had to pick a side: They were
either with the American people or with President Bush.
They chose Bush. They blocked a key vote to end the war. And we're going to make them pay for that choice.
As
senators go home for August break, our partners at Americans Against
Escalation in Iraq have put together the biggest campaign since the
beginning of the war. It's called Iraq Summer, and it's going to
present the Republicans with another choice: End the war, or face
political extinction.
Iraq
Summer hit the ground a few weeks ago. 90 organizers—including Iraq
vets and military families—are busy building strong networks on the
ground, organizing events and putting up hard-hitting advertising.
It's
really important to keep this organizing going all the way through
August. So we're aiming to raise $250,000 for AAEI and MoveOn's Iraq
Summer campaign by the end of this week. Can
you chip in $25 to turn up the heat on pro-war politicians—and make
sure they pay in their home states for voting to keep the war going?
If we want to end the war, we need to make it politically impossible for Republicans to stay the course.
And
that's exactly what Iraq Summer is doing. Iraq Summer organizers are
showing up at town hall meetings and asking tough questions, holding
rallies, and training local volunteers on working with the media.
PELOSI: PUT IMPEACHMENT BACK ON THE TABLE- Make a video of your call to and upload to utube. Milllions needed by July 23, 2007, the date Cindy Sheehans march gets to D.C., and her proposal to Pelosi to Impeach or she will run independant.
Of all the polling companies in the
United States, only one has ever polled, and only once, on whether
Americans want Cheney impeached. 54 percent of Americans and 76
percent of Democrats said Yes. http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/polling
Counting Farr and Jackson, a total of
3 percent of Congress Members and 6 percent of Democratic Congress
Members have taken the position shared by over three-quarters of
Democrats, 51 percent of Independents, and 17 percent of Republicans
around the country.
What will it take for Congress to
act? The majority of the people want it, and the least popular Vice
President in history can't be all that intimidating, can he? Isn't it
time we started intimidating him? http://www.impeachcheney.org
People from around the country are
headed to Washington on July 23rd to find out whether pressure from the
citizens of this republic counts for anything anymore: http://afterdowningstreet.org/node/24450

Congressman Sam Farr
(D., Calif.) is the latest member of Congress to respond to intense
pressure from his constituents and co-sponsor H Res 333, articles of
impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney. The official list of
co-sponsors at thomas.loc.gov includes 11 names, plus the original
sponsor Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D., Ohio). That makes 12. In
addition, Congressman Bob Filner (D., Calif.) has said he will sign on,
and has said so publicly in media interviews including this one: http://www.atlantaprogressivenews.com/news/0189.html
That makes 13, or 14 with Farr. Then there is Congressman Jesse
Jackson Jr. (D., Ill.) who has not signed onto H Res 333 or introduced
his own articles of impeachment against Cheney or Bush, but who
recently released this statement:
"In her first weeks as leader of the
Congress, Speaker Nancy Pelosi withdrew the notion of impeachment
proceedings against either President Bush or Vice President Cheney
[actually she did that 8 months earlier, and Jackson began parroting
her line right away, but who's counting]. With the president's decision
to once again subvert the legal process and the will of the American
people by commuting the sentence of convicted felon Lewis 'Scooter'
Libby, I call on House Democrats to reconsider impeachment proceedings.
Lewis Libby was convicted of lying under oath to cover up the outing of
active, undercover CIA agent, Valerie Plame. It is beyond unthinkable
that the president would undermine the legal process to protect a man
who engaged in treason against the United States government,
threatening the security of the American people. In November's
election, voters put Democrats in charge of Congress because they
believed our pledge of oversight and accountability. Now it's time for
us to honor that pledge. The Executive Branch should be held
responsible for its illegalities. Our democratic system is grounded in
the principle of checks and balances. When the Executive Branch
disregards the will of the people, our lawmakers must not be silent.
Today's actions, coupled with the president's unwillingness to comply
with Senate and House inquiries, leave Democrats with no other option
than to consider impeachment so that we can gather the information
needed to achieve justice for all Americans."
If Jackson signs onto H Res 333, there will be 15 cosponsors.
Sam Farr represents Santa Cruz,
California, the first city in the country to have passed a resolution
demanding impeachment. Santa Cruz city council passed that first
resolution in 2003, and passed another in 2006. Santa Cruz is also
home to COIN (Coalition for Impeachment Now) led by local organizers
Sherry Conable and Louis LaFortune. Following Santa Cruz's lead, a
total of at least 79 towns and cities have passed resolutions demanding
the impeachment of Cheney and / or Bush: http://impeachpac.org/resolutions-list
Time is Up: Declare Independence from the Occupation July 11, 2007 2:23 AM
Time is Up: Declare Independence from the Occupation
The July 4th recess has ended and Congress is already back discussing Iraq
amendments to the Defense Authorization Bill. Congress needs to hear from an
informed, aroused citizenry with the same fervor that King George heard from
American insurgents and revolutionaries 230 years ago.
And today even Republicans are speaking out against George W’s Iraq
disaster.
Please act now: Contact your two Senators and Congress
member (Capitol switchboard is 202-224-3121) to say the following:
Bring all U.S. troops and military contractors home from
Iraq promptly. (We oppose the modified occupation envisioned by Hillary
Clinton and Republican “moderates.”)
Oppose a permanent U.S. military presence in Iraq and support a ban
on permanent bases. (Given the deceptive reasons for the U.S. invasion
and abuses of civilians, U.S. military force is no solution in Iraq).
Revoke the October 2002 authorization for the Iraq war that was
based on White House deception.
Contact your Senators and member of Congresss now at 202-224-3121.
The Senate is already debating Iraq amendments to the bloated $648 billion
Defense Authorization Bill. The House will begin doing so in a few days: We
want a floor vote on a Barbara Lee-Jim McGovern-type amendment funding a safe,
prompt withdrawal of all troops.Forward this alert to your friends.
Here’s our Congressional timeframe:
-- Throughout July we’ll be calling and monitoring them during all the
Iraq votes.
-- Beginning Aug. 3, we’ll be meeting with or confronting our Senators
and Representatives (based on their July votes) in district meetings during a
month-long recess.
-- In September, PDAers will be in D.C. as Congress re-convenes to
vote on spending over $100 billion more for Iraq.
Please make a quick donation to support PDA’s
efforts to end the occupation and redirect funding to domestic
needs!
HEALTHCARE NOT WARFARE
Iraq currently drains $10 billion monthly from our national treasury that
could be going instead toward healthcare, education, environmental clean-up and
anti-poverty programs. PDA activists nationwide are making that point and
others as they leaflet at theaters showing Michael Moore’s SiCKO in
support of H.R. 676, single-payer Enhanced Medicare for All. Click here
to learn how you can join the fun around SiCKO.
Yours for peace and justice,
Tim Carpenter PDA National Director

Impeach/End the war (MOST RECENT LISTED FIRST!) July 11, 2007 2:21 AM
Hey folks,
Post anything about impeaching any of those bums here, and also anything about ending the war and keeping any other wars from starting.
I know there are other posts that will fit in here already posted throughout the posts here, but if you could just start putting them here, I will too.
I'll add the older ones here too, BUT if it's something you feel needs it's own post, go right ahead, I don't care how we fix things as long as we fix them.
Remember, when viewing, scroll all the way down through them as the most recent will be last, but check all please.
