As we get ready to move into our new home, I'm reminded of how great it feels to eliminate clutter, get rid of old energy, and recycle those things that others can put to good use. My time spent cleaning out cabinets, closets, and drawers inspired me to send our "Clean Up Day" newsletter as a way to challenge you to eliminate a little clutter in your life this week. Trust me, you'll love the feeling of energy you get from clear space so much, you're bound to go back to look at the organized area over and over again .
So this week, it's time to use this challenge as motivation to tackle the things you've been putting off. Here are some examples of what you might do:
Organize your desk at work.
Recycle your old magazines at a local doctor's office, hair salon, or health club.
Get rid of any recycling that's been sitting around.
Clean out your car.
Go through one closet and donate five pieces of clothing that you no longer wear.
Clean out a junk drawer somewhere in your home or office.
Organize your linen closet.
Clear out one filing cabinet drawer at work.
Eliminating clutter and handling those things that you keep putting off will give you energy, improve your mood, and make space for even better things to come into your life. To make it easy, break the task into manageable steps and make plans to do something fun once it's done. To stay motivated, you might even ask a friend to join you in a "clear the clutter" game. Finish this week's "Take Action Challenge" and enjoy a renewed sense of spaciousness and mental freedom!
Take Action Challenge
Make a list of five small areas that need to be cleaned out, choose one from the list right now and do it today. Then, each morning this week, choose another item and finish it by the end of the day. Limit yourself to one manageable item per day so you'll stay motivated. Then, feel the relief . . .
