anonymous BACA is Empowering Children December 16, 2005 4:22 PM

Being ignorant of what BACA was all about, I ASSumed it was a bunch of wild hell's angels kinda' folk but I WAS WRONG! They are professionals who are Against Child Abuse and they ride motorcycles. Over the last two years, I have known a few children who BACA members visited and the effect on the children was incredibly empowering. One child, 10, began a BACA group in her school for all the children who were having to live with an abusive parent. I believe Rikki will survive the craziness the judges have decided to leave her in, largely due to her mother having the insight to have BACA visit her little girl. We recently contacted BACA in mid-Texas and they are planning to visit four children who have been so traumatized by the residential treatment centers (RTC's)they were forced to endure for 11 months, the younger child cannot attend school. He is terrified of being away from his mother for more than a couple of minutes. We want these children to know that there are some caring Texans who care specifically about them, and we are willing to do whatever it takes to help these children regain some of the self-confidence they had prior to RTC Foster Care. Thank you to LT for making this possible.  [report anonymous abuse]  [ accepted]

BACA in San Antonio, TX has been incredible January 11, 2006 11:59 AM

We have several children in the San Antonio area who, after spending 11 months in one of Texas Worst Little Hell Holes, aka Residential Foster Care, are so messed up. Emotionally, they are in FIGHT MODE and they are out of control. They returned home, constantly fighting with one another and their mother. They run around their home screaming, "RESTRAIN ME, RESTRAIN ME", because their experience in Residential Foster care involved being restrained several times, on a daily basis. The restraints were not pleasant at all. They were beaten up, had black eyes, busted faces, and as one said, "They made me feel like DIRT,... NO, I felt worse than a PILE OF DIRT" BACA has been helping and I can never thank LT enough!! If not for BACA, these children would not have had a Christmas. They are doing better now and BACA is still involved with them. BACA is just absolutely awesome!!!!! Their care and concern is put into action for the children and for that, I have the deepest admiration for them!! Joanna  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

BACA is awesome January 29, 2006 3:25 AM

Yesterday, BACA threw a big party for all the kids and their families. "Our" four kiddos attended and were delighted to have so much attention. BACA is an extremely worthwhile cause and I just think they are awesome!! Jo  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
