I have found this... April 07, 2006 4:24 AM

I have been searching through the Net any website talking about the Mojahedins and I thought you may be interested in reading a very complete site. It's about the story of the Mojahedins, how all started, how it evolved and so. You may be more interested in starting from the title: The Founding

Love, light and laughters for everybody

On Sunday March 4th, thirty three women were arrested following a peaceful demonstration. As of now thirty of these women have been released. Those released confirm that the remaining women— Shadi Sadr, Mahbubeh Abbasgholizadeh, and Jila Baniyaghoub,— are still in ward 209 of Evin Prison (run by the Ministry of Intelligence of Islamic Republic of Iran, designated primarily for the political prisoners). The reason for their detention is drafting a statement that called for the gathering.

All of the women’s rights defenders except Shadi Sadr, Jila Bani-Yaghob, and Mahbobeh Abasgholizadeh have been released from the prison in the early morning  of March the 8th International Women’s Day (Tehran time).

Meydan website:  Saqi Leghayi, one of the activists who gathered in front of the Revolutionary court spoke to our site's reporter of the many aspects of the 48 hour detention.  She was arrested in this congregation along with her sister Sarah, on the morning of Sunday March 4, while her one year and two months old twins were impatient for her return.  During the detention, Leghayi was kept in the section 209 of the Evin prison, a name familiar to many political prisoners and women’s movements activists.  This section is reserved for the intelligence service, and being there does not add one’s name to the prisoners of Evin.

The Iranian government should immediately release the 26 prominent women’s rights activists arrested on March 4, and stop its prosecution and persecution of all women’s rights advocates, Human Rights Watch said today. Human Rights Watch is deeply concerned about the health and safety of the detainees, and holds the Iranian government fully responsible for their well-being.

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Arbour today expressed strong concern over the arrest by the security police of at least 31 women activists during a peaceful gathering in front of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Tehran on 4 March.

Rather than arresting peaceful demonstrators, the Iranian authorities should be taking seriously women's demands for equality before the law and addressing discrimination against women wherever it exists in the Iranian legal system," said Irene Khan, Amnesty International's Secretary General.
