The Second Generation is getting Older June 13, 2006 10:20 AM
I am nearly 57 and my Father saved his family from the Holocaust.
My Mother helped the survivors in Greece where she met my father.
Do you also feel that with age the Holocaust gets more Traumatic?

I do believe it gets more tramatic with age and the reason is is because you see more of it in everyday life... you see it occaring everywhere... you understand it more...
Your dad is a hero to me... and an inspiration to the world!!! Is he still living to tell the truth?
Yesterday, a friend of mine brought this subject up in a conversation we had. He is 60 y/o and a son of parents that were in Nazi Concentration Camps.
Growing up with parents that suffered in the Holocaust often left emotional scars on the children. There are different reasons for it, but in general, it has to do with the Holocaust trauma and constant life-threatening experiences of the parents which influenced their behavior and was projected in the context of the new reality of the children.
We both noticed that now that we are older we have more problems coping with the events of the Holocaust. We know of many others that feel that way as well.
Knowing the events that led to the Holocaust and seeing the development of anti-semitism and neo-Nazism in the present and the apathy of the world don't leave much choice than to be less tolerant and make sure it never happens again.
