A well of inspiration...
There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with
children. There is no duty more important than ensuring that their
rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives
are free from fear and want and that they grow up in peace.
Kofi A. Annan,
Secretary-General of the United Nations
A Human Being is Part of the Whole October 03, 2005 8:23 AM
"A human being is part of the whole, called by us "universe," limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons close to us.
Our task must be to free ourselves from our prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all humanity and the whole of nature in its beauty." ---Albert Einstein---
Each Step... becomes a realization of Peace October 07, 2005 4:55 AM
"We shall walk in such a way that each step we make becomes a realization of peace; each step becomes a prayer for peace and harmony.
Children will join us and we shall walk together in silence, with no banners and no pickets. The walk will not be a petition addressed to anyone, nor will it be a demonstration against anyone. The walk is to unite our heart, to nurture our togetherness, and to dissipate fear and separation.
If you are a Buddhist, please come. If you are a Christian please come. If you are Jewish, Muslim, or belong to or identify with any other religions, creed, or peace organization, please come. If you are white, brown, black, yellow, red or any other color, please come.
We shall learn together that wrong perceptions of self and others are at the foundation of separation, fear, hate, and violence; and that togetherness and collaboration is possible."
I have learnt through bitter experience the one supreme lesson to conserve my anger, and as heat conserved is transmuted into energy, even so our anger controlled can be transmuted into a power which can move the world.

Beacon of Peace
I unite with others in creating a beacon of peace that illumines the world.
Inspiring lights, whether in the form of a glowing candle, festive fireworks, or nature's awesome Northern Lights, leave vivid impressions in mind.
Perhaps no light is as indelible, however, as a beacon of peace.
As I let my own individual light shine, uniting with the light of others, peace in the world grows. The peace within each individual shines out to eliminate any darkness of mistrust and conflict.
Peaceful, God-inspired words and actions unite families, friends, neighborhoods, communities, and countries. Harmony and goodwill reign, rendering borders and differences unimportant.
What is important is that person after person is responding as a beacon of peace, merging into one light that illumines the world with peace.
Beacon of Peace really helped me the other morning. In Ayurveda, India's ancient medicine, the mind is seen as deriving nourishment both from the foods we eat, and what is termed "impressions." Impressions are of course EVERYTHING we let into our minds. In our media-rich, everything-is-a-billboard world, it's a daily filtration process to let only the right impressions in.
Peace... a philosophical revolution March 23, 2006 7:02 PM
[To create] not only a massive but a basic change in our culture, in our entire approach to our relationships with other human beings... It's not a matter of simply getting another Department of government. You're speaking of an entire philosophical revolution." ~Walter Cronkite

Peace Prayer April 24, 2006 12:17 PM
May there peace in the higher regions; may there be peace in the firmanent; may there be peace on earth. May the waters flow peacefully; may the herbs and plants grow peacefully; may all the divine powers bring unto us peace. The supreme Lord is peace. May we all be in peace, peace, only peace; and may that peace come unto each of us.
