G3 is a great link. Read an essay on the Bush Doctrine on the site. My husbands been telling me about it for years. Does polity mean politics, hope so. Those three areas need adressing at the same time, now. Needs reform. I like how they are all confronted and not just pushing personal change, like must websites I've seen. Our problems are much bigger then personal change. Though it's a start it's not enough.

good points about personal change not being enough - as it is personal change is part of a cultural change - we exchange ideas and get inspired to change, and we can in our daily lives make small changes in horw we act economically and what policies we support - it is this change of minds that the seeds for the future lies - I don't think big plans for new economic institutions or a different political system basically can change peoples ways - but when people change their ways new economic institutions and different politics will emerge... eventually we will start working together, go from personal action to common action... organize from below... just to think different doens't do it, when we start acting differently both personally and together things will change

The following essay attempts to give a concise account of the principles of Social Threefolding.
Social Threefolding is a form of governance that has new and important insights to offer regarding the functioning of modern democracies. Social Threefolding is so named because it recognises not two but three distinct areas of social life.   The two areas with which traditional and conventional governance concerns itself are those of rights (polity), and work (economy). The third area has always been recognised to some degree; but how it 'fits in' in a modern democratic society is a real challenge. This is the area of cultural life generally (education, religion, the arts, etc.). In Social Threefolding this is called the free spiritual realm. A conscious and clear recognition of the relationship that this free spiritual/cultural realm has, or should have, to overall governance is crucial to a correct understanding of what Social Threefolding actually is. And once this is understood and accepted, it will also be clear that Social Threefolding has a vital role to play in the adaptation of modern social forms and practices in order to make them fit for the new era we are now entering.

Sekem: A Sustainable Community in the Egyptian Desert Ibrahim Abouleish

Dr. Abouleish's goal was to build a new type of community. His vision was for a farm that grows biodynamic crops and plants out of the harsh desert sand. And a community in which workers and residents were all given holistic primary health care and where their children would be well-educated in the sciences. This was to become place that could sell its produce and become self-sufficient and self-sustaining. Ultimately, this would be a place where Islam and Western technology could come together in harmony.
