EPA assistance for sustainable communities and streets
4 years ago
This month's edition of World Carfree News contains the following information: "U.S. EPA ASSISTANCE TO COMMUNITIES: - Smart Growth Implementation Assistance and Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities - these are two calls for letters of interest that have been issued by the Environnmental Protection Agency for communities in the USA that want to foster economic growth, protect the environment and develop plans for development. Deadline is October 28." Measures include promoting "complete streets" which are good for all users including pedestrians and cyclists. This might be able to help build a better future for sustainable transport in the US. Perhaps people promoting walking, cycling and public transit should get involved in this to make sure it goes in the right direction, towards more sustainable transport.

Thank you for posting, Monica! I only add to your list of sustainable transports the electrical vehicles, only with lithium batteries, or with hydrogen fuel cells that produces the electric power inside the car. The electrical power on the first case, can be provided from the Renewable Energy, from the electrical network, or using the self generation. This Clean Energies are: Hydropower, Wind Energy (Wind Farms), Energy from Biomass and Bio-gas, Solar Energy (thermal and photovoltaic), Geothermal Energy, Waves Energy and Tidal Energy.
