Reading in the SUNDAY Paper that in the Redlands and Pine Rivers Area in Brisbane they are trying to have new Estates open up that prohibit anyone who ownes a Dog from building there. Good Idea but what about those other four legged fury animals too, like Cats. They also have a impact on our wild life.
This is a good idea as our Koala numbers have dropped to less than 2,000 now.
Will it be enough though I wonder.
There was a Koalo population at Clontarf about 4 years ago. Now they have all disappeared from that suburb.
What a shame as they were wonderful to see while walking along the paths there.
Thanks for this news item Gypsie - it is such a tragedy that Koalas are barely clinging to existence!
When I was a girl (er...as opposed to a 'lady'...I didn't have a sex-change) I remember we found a koala on a bushwalk in the Blackbutt Reserve. The organization (Newcastle Flora and fauna society) made everyone promise not to tell, because in those days the first thing people would do is come and shoot the poor thing.
