Better, Safer World Campaign by the Hunger Site
10 years ago
Hi Everyone! Join the Better Safer World campaign at The Hunger Site and call for an end to global poverty, hunger and disease through a commitment by the United States to support humanitarian development initiatives... Just sign in on the Better Safer World campaign page here: http://www.thehungersite.com/rbt/BetterSaferWorld/SBW. Letters will then be sent on your behalf to your senators and President Bush, asking them to take an active role in addressing the root causes of global instability. WHY DAILY CLICK AT THE HUNGER SITE? About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes. Three-fourths of the deaths are children under the age of five. Your click is free and gives a cup of fortified food -- and hope -- to someone with nowhere else to turn. WHY JOIN THE BETTER SAFER WORLD CAMPAIGN? Of the world's 21 wealthiest developed nations, the US ranks 20th in the amount of foreign assistance it gives to developing countries. One tenth of one percent of the US GNP goes to foreign assistance (Harvard). Almost three billion people on our planet live in poverty, earning less than $2 a day. We can and must do more by working with other nations in a unified, global effort to help developing countries help themselves. Mercy Corps (partner of The Hunger Site) and eight other successful relief and development organizations have joined together to make it happen and they need your support.... Because when we make the world better, we make it safer -- for all of us. Blessings, Sandra
