anonymous SAINTS: St. Thérèse de Lisieux March 09, 2006 8:34 AM

Feast day 1st October

I have been reading about this wonderful saint today and thought I would post something about her. I am sure that there are not many people who haven't heard about her. She is known by many titles, such as: St. Thérèse de Lisieux, St. Teresa of the Child Jesus, St. Teresa of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face and St. Teresa of the Roses. (There is even an old song called 'St. Teresa of the Roses.')She entered the Carmelite Convent at the age of fifteen and died at the age of twenty-four. She is famous for her 'Little Way' which I find wonderfully encouraging. The Little Way consists of doing small things well rather than doing heroic deeds.

I found a very good website about her and would urge you to read the information contained on the site and also to listen to the audio clip which gives a great insight into the life of the saint. St. Teresa was born in Alencon in Normandy (France) and the family later moved to Lisieux in Normandy (France). It was there that she lived her life as a Carmelite nun, and there is a huge basilica dedicated to her. I have been to both places several times and I shall post some photos when I can. In the meantime, here is a link to the website:

I think St. Therese is better known that one might think.  Her book "Story of a soul" is a good read.
