FROM AUGUST 8/07 RECEIVED AUG.9/07 August 09, 2007 12:53 PM 1) people can TRACK THIS THREAD FOR UPDATES, or others on site so they go into your email and you are notified asap. 2) I have heard from GT.P yesterday regarding Agnes and husband, etc., and this morning from Jorge. Jorge can't post right now and GT.P's Internet is down and I called him in Brazil to read Jorge's update to him and to confer on the phone. We are waiting for a reply from Jorge through me at present and GT is going to try to get a hold of her husband again to get some of the information clarified and confirmed from him and if cannot get online I will phone to Brazil again in a few hours. Her husband is under too much stress and it may be too much for him. Agnes may be out of the coma, the doctor is calling it something else not a coma, but we are wary of the diagnosis and the methods being used or not. She is not speaking yet as of yesterday, her eyes are opened and have been since Sunday anyway. They have been taking her off life support for periods of time which she wasn't handling well, but her husband says as of yesterday Wednesday, June 8th.07 that she is doing abit better. Am trying to get more confirmation if the doctor has taken her off totally off life support Her husband is very overwhelmed right now for other reasons as well I am not at liberty to say . I can say that her email accounts and netmessage are full which his sister was trying to translate some and it is too much for them right now. Please do not email or call the hosptial, we are trying to clarify some information asap and if there is more we can do for Agnes. PLEASE KEEP PRAYING. Another Update on Agnes condition Sorry for opening another thread : once again my care2 hasn´t allowed me to post on existing ones (it leads me to a page of invalid invitation). GT has kindly offered to pass the updates for me, but his connection ran down so I´m here again: Talked over the phone with Agnes´ sister-in-law this evening. She was really nice, willing to give any information needed and thankful to everyone who has been sending their spiritual energy and prayers.She told me the doctors have stopped giving Agnes the antibiotics, so I guess the infection has been overcome ( she was just told they had done so).However, the breathing difficulty remains. Her husband trusts the doctor responsible for her treatment and so does her family. I will try and visit her this Saturday afternoon ,as there is a vacancy in the allowed number of visitors( unless a relative turns up, in which case he or she would have the priority, of course). Cheryl Sunshine B.	August 12, 2007 8:23 PM Agnes Corbett Jorge Alexandre talked to Agnes' husband today (August, 12), also a few days ago, some of the details were not clear so we wanted to wait until they were. He sent us an email with updates as well I was talking to him on IM when he sent it, and I was asked to post them. Unfortunately, the news is not what we hoped for. Agnes couldn't stay on the oxygen breathing tubes they had as they would harm her more and had to be changed, as well she had a very hard time being taken off it prior when they tried for 24 hours. As mentioned in prior update Agnes had an infection in her intestines, and they stopped the antibiotics. We thought this meant good news. Unfortunately, she also had a kidney problem which grew into an infection (on the kidney) the past few days, as well another (or the other) infection which spread through the whole digestive system and now is "septicemia". She is now completely dependent on the breathing aid apparatus. She has had 2 heart attacks, pneumonia, they suspect cancer as well in her at least one of her lungs as well as them paralyzing. She is not totally conscious. The doctor was asked about her chances and he says: "Now they are very reduced and minimal and she has septicemia", as well. There was no mention that they put her back on the antibiotics, I would think they would have immediately. We want to think positive, Agnes is very weak and more than we thought prior. We are heartbroken right now and can only pray for the best outcome for Anges and alot of positive love and energy sent to her, her husband and family. Even though Tere hasn't been on Care2 lately, she is still thinking of Agnes and hoping for a miracle. All most of us can do is continue to send positive energy, prayers, light candles, or whatever ways we use to send healing to sweet Agnes. I will never give up on Agnes, she is wonderful and strong, and so loved by all. But I will admit that the news scares me. August 13, 2007 4:50 PM well it is 3 of us working together to do it and it isn't easy emotionally, I don;t think Agnes would hesitate for a second if it were someone living near her. However, the information and permission is from her husband, which is where it comes from, and he did ask for prayers and gets updates. So many love Anges, she is love herself, and for so many of us to give her what energy we can and positive healing thoughts, and LOVE, is important, and it has been pouring out all over care2. I sent a message saying that hundreds have been praying for her and her husband and family as well and are continuing. She was talking and just starting to walk abit a few weeks back, so you never know if they get this infection under control and keep her on the antibiotics until they are sure it is all gone. AUGUST 13, 2007 UPDATE, EVENING August 14, 2007 3:16 PM I couldn't edit and post it until now: 1) The hospitals and medication knowledge and treatment where Agnes lives, they are not quite up to date and they are quite strict to what they release even to families members. Anges previously was in a public hospital where she got the main infection, and her husband and family pulled together resources to have her moved to a Private hospital there, which is an improvement, but for the size of the city and where she lives not a major one. They are doing the best they can within their limitations. The Sister-in-law did state at some time prior, that Agnes would have passed on if left in the last hospital. They are only allowed to spend very short time with her, and very short visit with the doctor and are not told, explained much or encouraged to ask, and they are not familiar with medical terminology to ask any questions and are hesitant because of attitudes there. Whenever he tries to get some more details on her treatment, he is always dismissed after brief pieces of information, opening the door for the next one to be attended" (I think many of us have found the same where we live ). 2) In regards to anyone that has their home phone number, her husband has not only requested it not be passed around but not to call at this time, he doesn't understand English is concerned that they are already too many phone calls from people, neighbours, family members, and not enough hours in the day and under very much stress. He has also mentioned regarding contacting the hospital, I will just copy that as well " About the hospital, they have strict rules of not giving away any information whatsoever, except personally, even for the family, for several reasons, and even the family is not allowed that much either." 3) "On Saturday they believe the kidney infection started, spreading to the the whole digestive system. She needs abdominal surgery, but that was not feasible, due to the critical state she was (is) in, bringing about an insoluble dilema.Today,the situation remains unchanged, with total dependence on the artificial breathing." "I passed on your question about the antibiotics, he said he only knew what was on her Medical Chart, In this record, there was the mention of the antibiotics for the kidney infection but he supposes the one for the digestive system must be being given by shots (as you usually call injections) ". (For such as this the antibiotic "shots" need to go in the IV Saline Bag) "He says thank you a lot for all the sincere interest and prayers, as well as all those wonderful families mentioned that are praying for Anges and him". *********************************************************************** Jorge will contact again in a day or so, unless any sudden changes. Her husband has Gt's phone number as well, they all have mine but I don't expect them to call from Brazil to Canada, and will post the next update when it comes in. If too many days go by I will contact them. AUGUST 14, 2007 UPDATE, JUST GOT IT NOW August 15, 2007 7:31 AM Brief update, due to some of the language barriers and words they use there that would be medically used differently here, I will wait until confirmed (only a few), everything else is copied and pasted from Jorge's email ********************************************************************* Her husband is grateful that we are in touch. He said she seemed to be more conscious today ,which he guesses must be due to the changes in the dosage of one medicine they give her each day. When asked if she felt cold or in pain, she nodded negatively, though she seemed restless due to have been laying down for such a long time. they are going to do a tracheostomy on her tomorrow, which will allow her to breath more easily, leaving the mouth free from the tube, and not hurting it anymore.The confirmation of the possibility of an abdominal edema remains to be given by tomorrow´s exam. ******************************************************************** Keep praying, miracles do happen, and she is somewhat coherent as of yesterday, and if she is restless for being in bed that is a good sign. Also with the tube removed from her mouth to her throat, she may be able to start talking. I was told not to get my hopes up to be let down, but I can't help but smile, first time for many days. At present we have been asked to keep family names out as much as possible until some pressure is relieved in the the situation. I can not send individual messages and Anges email and netmessage are full and it is too much for them presently. But I can and do include messages in a general manner from all the members of care2 that are concerned and praying to pass on to her husband which Jorge does. Jorge has seen her in the hosptial once already, and was to see her again but was not well himself and didn't want to pass anything on to Anges so did not go, as stated in a prior update. GT presently has a serious committment he has to make and is short on time, but keeping his hand in the pot so to speak. Also that updates are read in order, to lessen misunderstandings, and pictures not posted here for those on dial up and slow connections, including myself, makes very slow. An anonymous post had to be deleted yesterday for several reasons that were not appropriate, and that feature has been turned off. Mary's response may seem out of context as she was replying to that post, Sunshine could not get on care2 at the time. Sunshine may start another thread with next update, or just have one with updates only and copy over. I will get in touch with other hosts as soon as possible and possibly Anges husband, my time is very limited now for serious issue of my own and I do not have time to copy/paste the pictures to the other thread for Agnes. Gt P.	August 22, 2007 2:05 PM Jorge sent me an email with some good news: The infection seems to be receding. The doctors say she will get better slowly. Yesterday she was already strong enough to sit. She still has the thracheostomy to be able to breath, but when asked if she was feeling better, she nodded and smiled. These are very good news. Cheryl Sunshine B.	August 25, 2007 2:25 AM UPDATE FROM JORGE Her husband says Anges is getting much calmer and less breathing difficulties, breathing better and smiling more. Her breathing has improved enough that they are taking her off the breathing apparatus for an hour or 2 at a time to see how she does and testing her lung capacitiies for the future. The operation on her abdomen seems to have gone well as there is continued signs of improvement , and she is not in much pain/discomfort, only what is to be expected. There had been concern for the cost of the breathing apparatus when home, but have happilly found out that the State covers it. However, they have storms and blackouts and Anges lives outside the city so there is concern for this and maintenance also. He once more thanks all the people for all the praying,concern and support.
