That's an inspiring story, Christine! And it's so great that you train dogs and help people.

Hi everyone December 13, 2008 10:14 PM

reading pawz

In August of 2004, while on my way to work, I was involved in a Hit and Run Car Accident. I ended up with spinal injuries that resulted in my being bed-ridden for months. After seeing many doctors, I was told that I would be at the least
utilizing a cane or walker and eventually would need a wheelchair; I had lost the feeling in my left leg from the waist down. I spent the next few months a prisoner in my own home, only going out of the house to go to see yet another
doctor, or for small family functions, and only with my husband. By this time, I felt helpless and isolated. Always afraid that if I was in a crowd I would embarrass my self by falling, or someone would accidentally bump into me, not to mention that riding in a car was almost impossible. Thankfully, I had a wonderful husband, daughter and family that stood by me and helped me through this time.

In November of 2005, Jeff and I decided that we needed to try something else. The doctor's only gave me a 30% chance of a surgery helping me, and a 70% chance of paralyzing me. That's when we decided to start looking for a
Service Dog for me. After a lot of research, Jeff and I discovered the fast growing need for Assistance Dogs, the waiting lists and the costs. Since Jeff and I had both been involved in the training of all kinds of dogs for the last 10
years, we decided to go to the next level and learn to train a dog for me. So, we did our research and decided to take classes to train our own dog. The first step was to go to several Animal Shelters in Los Angeles, California to find a dog.

In June of 2006, we went to the Lancaster, California Animal Shelter and after viewing and testing about 15 dogs, we found D'Artagnan. He is a golden retriever/german shepherd mix. He was a mess, fox tails embedded in his fur,
matted, definitely needing a bath, his tail had been broken in two places, and he was set for Euthanasia in two days. But he just felt right, and of course he passed our initial tests and we now had my Service Dog in Training, D'Artagnan.
Within 3 months, D'Artagnan earned his Canine Good Citizenship through AKC and three month's later passed his ADI Service Dog Public Access testing with flying colors.

That is when PALS with PAWZ was established. We are passionate about training rescued and donated dogs to assist the physically disabled in restoring some of their physical and emotional freedoms; therefore enabling them to lead more independent lives. Our goal is to Create a Loving Relationship between the Assistance Dog and their Disabled partner; resulting in the enhancement of freedom, security, independence and the enrichment of their quality of life. The main focus of PALS with Pawz is Autistim/Mobility/Therapy Service Dogs. We believe that ANYONE who needs a Service Dog should be able to have a Service Dog regardless of their ability to pay.

I believe that feeding your animals holistic food is the best thing that you can do for them, and I am always looking for ways to enhance their lives.

hello everyone November 16, 2008 2:20 PM

I am pretty new to the group and hope to soon meet everyone in this group. I am Sophie's mom and here is a little bit about me.

We feed our fur kids a raw meaty bone prey model diet. After our Rotten/Boxer died of insulinoman cancer I realized that a diet high in carbs can cause this type of cancer. I did a lot of research on ferrets adn dogs medical research papers and learned a lot about why it is important to feed them as close as we can to their own natural diet. So Sophie is fed a prey model diet too.

I enjoy quilting, reading, hiking, fabric, photography and the scrap booking that goes with that, and learning and trying to switch to a raw diet myself. I have been doing a lot of reading of late on raw food diets. No raw meats in that diet!

I have diabetes and believe that it is curable through a raw diet. It is getting over and past the hurddles that are the trouble areas though.

I have been married now to the same man for over 30 years. We share two adult kids, one son and one daughter and our son has a daughter. Long story on why he and his ex-gf are not together.

I am an animal lover with my favorite being of the canine form. I become very attatched to our fur kids. So they never get spoiled! Yeah right! So why do they end up sleeping on our bed then if they are not spoiled? Hmmm go figure, I know they are not spoiled. hahahaha.

Well there is a little bit about me.

Hi, Penny! January 31, 2008 1:04 PM

Wow! That sounds like very interesting and rewarding work that you do! I hope you enjoy it here!

Do you use any natural methods now with animals? Flower essences are really good for when animals have emotional stress going on in their lives, like moving, etc., creates.

I was wondering, too, what are your thoughts on microchipping? There has been very negative risks shown through research, yet the shelters are making it mandatory quite oftentimes, through good intentions, of course. If you aren't aware of this, you might want to check that out, as well, in the threads.

Please share with us often! I'll bet you have LOTS of great stories to tell!

Welcome! Feel free to ask any questions you'd like!
Hugs,

Introduction January 31, 2008 8:39 AM

Hi all, I'm Penny Leisch. I'm really happy to find this group. You sound very knowledgeable. I just want to say hello and tell you a bit about my interest in this group. My speciality is working with animals that have special needs, whether it's from medical problems, age, accidents, or birth defects. This interest developed through our rescue work and adoption of our own family of special needs pets.

I also help pet owners assess their readiness for a new pet, pet proof homes, help prepare for lifestyle changes such as moving or having a new baby, and more. I even litter trained a dog whose elderly owner was moving to assisted living, so the dog could go along. I worked with a rat rescue group in Arizona too. Do I have to say I love all animals?

I just did an internet radio show yesterday about how living green benefits our pets. It's great to do work that I love, and I enjoy learning more everyday from the experiences others share online.

Welcome Bekki! September 26, 2007 12:43 PM

Welcome EVERYONE!

I love this group! I don't think there's anything else like it here on Care2 or anywhere else that I've seen. It covers all types of natural health topics for animals of every kind. They were ALL born to live NATURAL lives!

I always have lots of pets, too. I wish I lived further out where I could have a few chckens and a rooster, some goats, a cow, a horse and a pig. That's what I'd really like! Right now I have two dogs and five cats. I might be looking for a home for one of my doggies, though. He reeeeeeeally needs a place where he can run. He is a very nice dog...a BEAUTIFUL dog...sweet and loving, too...but he really likes to run free, and I live smack dab in the middle of town. His name is Domino, and I really love him a lot...enough to let him go to a more suitable home, if anyone's looking for a super nice dog. I haven't even got a fence in my yard, so he has to be tied when he goes outside. (Toto stays in the yard, but Domino runs when he's not on a leash. I think it's the husky in him.)

So glad to find this group. I have been  a member since April but not had a lot of time to look for groups, found this through another member's page.

I have been making my cats' food since 1990, I find that they seem to stay pretty healthy and live pretty long that way. I started doing the same for my dogs a few years back, that was more intimidating since it requires a lot more work, and we usually have at least 8 or 9 animals at a given time. Once we were up to 13, now we are actually down to 6 cats and one big dog.

I also do a lot of herbal care and nutritional stuff with them. I have an 18 year old cat who almost left us last year because of kidney problems but she has been stable using an herbal formula and regulating her food. I am grateful for every day I have with her.

Looking forward to sharing with all of you.

Blessings,

Bekki

Hello! September 16, 2007 8:17 AM

G'day! Found your group through Aimee's profile. I currently have only one dog but love animals in general -- even thought I might become a vet when I was in high school (didn't do that). I am into organics, gardening, herbalism, holistic health, food as medicine, ... (preaching to the choir, here?) and want to treat my dog as I would like to be treated. ^..^ See ya on the boards!  [ send green star]

Great to meet you! August 23, 2007 5:15 AM

Thanks for the great intro, Cristi!  And thanks for joining our group!!!

I hope you'll find things of interest here.  It would be great if more clinics, shelters, etc., started using natural health ways.

People seem to think that natural ways are less effective, and only to be used when nothing serious is going on, but in my opinion, natural ways are far superior to synthetic and artificial methods of trying to restore the body to health.  Natural methods work WITH the body, ultimately strengthening overall health, whereas chemical medicines merely force the body to react in a certain way, and always gives side effects.  There's a really big difference in the way the two systems work.  Welcome to our little group which is attempting to learn more natural ways!

WELCOME TO EVERYONE HERE!!!

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to say hi to everyone and tell a little about myself. I am 32 years old, getting ready to be 33 on the 29th, have 3 kids ages 10,8 and 5 and 2 step-kids ages 18 and 14. The 14 year old lives with us. I am married and have been for 7 years and with my husband for 11 years. He is my soul mate.

I am a HUGE animal lover. My favorite animal though is dogs. My favorite breed is Chihuahuas. I think they are so smart and loyal!

Our local dogcatcher was caught on video shooting dogs then throwing them in the front of a bulldozer even if they were not dead! The tape showed the dogs laying there for HOURS alive suffering. If they still were not dead he would not shoot them again because the "County" said another bullet cost to much money. Then he would just bury them alive

This had aperantely been going on for several years and someone snuck on the dog pound property and video taped him. It hit the news channels here and people went nuts! That man got death threats and everything. A group formed called Henry County Friends Of Animals and they took over the shelter. Then their was conflict (of course) with group members so they closed that group and went on to become Animal Rescue League. I was in both groups but not the conflict. When the new group opened there was around 4 of us. We ran the shelter, took in dogs, cats, horses, chickens (yeah I said chickens) and anything that needed homes. Our houses were full. At one time I had 19 puppies plus other dogs and 14 kittens. The shelter was falling apart and ht rats that kept biting the dogs. It was awful, they would chase you!

Anyhow long story short (yeah right) that group broke up so I went on to form my own group called Special Animals. I have a site at www.specialanimals.faithweb.com but it is not up to date at all beacuse we have had some things going on so I stopped even taking in rescues for now.

Finally that tape hit the Country news and it was really on then. We took UHUAL trucks full of ther dogs and cats to other rescue groups in D.C., IL, Colorodo and more places. We had to because we were swamped. We help mobile spay/neuter clinics and spayed/neutered over 2 thousand dogs and cats in a few months. We did alot of good things in that group that I am proud of.

Anyhow, sorry I got off the topic at hand. That just made me think of what happened here.

So hello, there is a little about me and if you want to know more just check out my profile I hope to meet new people and make new friends here

little ones January 28, 2007 2:41 PM

We have a Rottie and they won't ever hurt anything- the smaller pets usually boss him around.  With all the Rotties we've had we train them from the time they are puppies to let the little critters walk all over them (literally)  So they just think it is normal and it also means that the critter on top is dominant- regardless of size.  The rabbit is fenced off though mainly to keep him in as he is a wire cord chewer.  The guinea pigs use his play area when he is not using it.  The iguanas have an entire room to themselves but the cats like to visit them.  Although I don't let them into the young males area because they like his tail a little too much and he is also liable to jump on them and attack- bad for everyone involved.  The cockatoo bit my male igs tail one time when I was holding him and I didn't see that he had whipped his tail around into the cage.  The bird was just tasting though so no harm done.  She is the only cockatoo that I have ever heard of that won't bite!!!  Good for me!  And of course the dogs and cats love each other and some times clean each other.

When I get pictures up of all of them I will introduce them in the pet welcome room.  They are on digital media somewhere but I just have to find them!!

Welcome! January 28, 2007 5:08 AM

That's quite a list, Aimee!  I've had all of those same critters myself, at one point in my life or another, except the Iguana...but I've had chameleons before!

How do you keep the cats and dogs away from the littler ones?  I've had a few tragedies and so I don't have anything now but the cats and the dogs.  I'd love to have goats and chickens, but I'm not allowed within the 2 square miles of this rural little village's limits.  Hmph.

My love bird met with a terrible fate in the mouth of one of my dogs, and that was enough for me.  It's too bad, because I'd love to have a rabbit hopping around in the house!  I used to raise lop ears and I really love them a lot!

Welcome to the group!  Please introduce your "family" here:  Welcome and Introduction to Pets

Thank you vibe for the invitation to your group .I have many pictures of my cat Trouble but unfortunately without a scanner I can not put them on-line.She is 15 years old balck with a white chest and paws ,,she looks like she is wearing a tuxedo lol. Two years ago I had to put down her companion a lovable male tiger because he had cancer and his quality of life was where he could not swallow without pain. Trouble has missed him terribly which is noticable by the way she shows separation anxiety when I leave or even go into another room she will cry and follow me. Well again thank you for the invitation.

Wow! November 26, 2006 12:03 AM

It is so wonderful to see everyone here, and to read down this thread from top to bottom, and give thanks for so many people who love animals. So many nice comments were made by so many nice people who care, all the way down to Orlin and his love for chickens! I really do love them, too! I grew up across the dirt road from 300 of them, and I used to play over there all the time! And hi, Sonja! I see you in so many nice groups that I'm in! I look through these threads and I see so many wonderful people who CARE! Animals need us to care. Not many do. Oh, yeah...you have your folks who love dogs...but a lot of them only love their designer dogs...the ones born out of torture and exploitation and pain. Or people who say they love animals but give no thought whatsoever to the life their McChicken lived before it got McFried. How did the bird in the cage get out of the jungle? Was it trapped and shipped like we did to the slaves? Are they slaves to our pleasure? Or maybe they were born here...but how were they raised? In a hatchery where nobody cared? What of the ones who didn't do well? How were they treated then? Puppy mills don't just happen to dogs...there are bird mills, kitten mills, all sorts of animals get raised for business sake. I knew a man who raised rabbits for sale. They spent their lives in one or two square foot cages until whatever time they got sold...Out in a barn...a few hundred of them...all lined up in row after row. What kind of a life is that for a rabbit? Rabbits like to eat clover and hop! Circus animals. Zoo animals. Farm animals. These are all animals held captive by us. They're in our care. Do we love them? Respect them? Butcher them? Eat them? Strip them of their skin and their fur? How we treat them says so much about who we are. Do we strap them down and pour cosmetics in their eyes? Do we bash their brains out in crash tests for cars? Animals should be allowed to live NATURAL lives. If we have them in our care, we should emulate that as much as we can. Domestic dogs, yes, are domesticated...and they LOVE to be with us in our homes. I'm not saying all animals should run in the wild! But still...a domestic dog should be given food to eat which is natural to it, and it should be helped to heal in natural ways. The wolves know how to heal in the woods. Vets are a convenience to deal with modern diseases...they really don't have that much to do with maintaining health. Good health is a NATURAL thing! Anyways, I'm rambling, but the scope of this group is so vast. We can learn natural ways from animals that we can use in our own lives as well. When left on their own they are amazingly bright! I just think the closer we can bring them to the natural state of their design the better of they are going to be. I appreciate all the good feedback provided here in this thread. I would really like to see this be a real active group. Please, everyone...feel free to invite your friends! If we really love animals, we'll want to learn from each other all that we can about how to provide them all the very best things for their health, like improved nutrition, and healing through natural means...avoiding the side effects of harsher ways. Natural health for animals means don't fill them all full of drugs and make them so fat they can't walk and then stick them in a little small space to never know freedom or love. That's not a natural life, and there's nothing about it that's healthy or good. Natural health for animals means learning ways to strengthen their immune systems so they don't get sick and need drugs which will in turn weaken their immune system more. Natural health for animals means not sticking microchips under their skin which are shown in research to have a 1 in 100 chance of causing tumors. Microchips aren't supposed to be implanted under the skin. That's not a natural thing. Natural health for animals means not poisoning the cat to get rid of the fleas. Natural health for animals means not poisioning the herbs (some folks call them weeds) in the yard making it unsuitable for your pet to be out on the lawn. Natural health for animals means not buying food with artificial colors because they aren't good for them and they really don't care what color it is...it's a trick. Natural health for animals means if you can successfully avoid the surgery...do. Explore less drastic ways first. Natural health for animals means exploring more natural medicine ways for yourself which don't require the use of animal testing. Natural health for animals means re-examining your own eating habits and deciding if it's worth costing a creature its natural born life just to sit down and have meatballs on your spaghetti instead of mushrooms, marinara, or a nice chunky vegetable sauce. (Being slaughtered is not dying through natural means.) Natural health for animals means taking the time to prepare food for pet, or purchasing food that's not easily found. Plus it means paying more for their food. Natural health for animals means signing petitions that protect choices in natural health. This group can go in so many directions, but it's really all about the same thing. It's about trying to learn how to give animals what they would have had if we had left things alone when paradise was first given to us! Instead we had to start slaughtering and offering them up in sacrifice. We still sacrifice so many today, to the gods of our own desires. GOD gave us creatures to love. It is their natural born right! Thanks everyone for joining this group. It takes courage to examine your values in order to give them the best that you can. Natural health for animals means natural health for us, too! The same principles work for us all. Vibraceous, ND  [ send green star]

Introduction November 25, 2006 11:08 PM

Hello, everyone my name is Orlin. I belong to a number of groups within  the care2 network. I can already tell that I have more interests in, and more information to share in this group then any others I support. I love all amimals of the World first of all. And its so amazing when there is still a new species yet until now undiscovered. Or just one that never made the headlines, and is new to me. I grew up on a farm in Montana. All my realitives there did. Towns were there just for buying staples that couldnt be produced in that area. Or an occasional Movie. Schools, or the Brandy for Holiday Nogs, which the farm supplied every thing else. I could honestly go on forever about  this to short of a sequence in my life. but the topic here is animals. And of course the Animals needed to secure the stability of a Farm are of my most interest. There was truly a respect for each individual animal family. And their welfare was always well tended to in this respect. Having grown up in this particular time frame, I was taught to respect them through substinance, as well as just a pet all  your own. Of them all my favorites have always been chickens. The crow in the morning is truly the most rewarding wake up call I have ever witnessed. A Mother  Hen, who has endured almost four weeks of setting on her eggs beneath her, without food or water, but for just few minutes, and only when its right as far as she is concerned. And then the final miracle as she leaves the nest now, and with a whole new attitude. Now her only reason in life is to protect those little fluffs that still fit beneath her feathers, that she almost always leaves extracted to and fluffed up, to exagerate her largeness. If that doesnt work, she will attack no matter who or what you are.  and then return to cover her brood for whom she is protecting.  Here I go once again, I could talk chicken for months. I would be happy to try to answer questions on any of these subjects, especially from someone who wants to take on these animal responibilities for the first time. Or any one in general. I am not a specialist. But I do love to talk Farm Animal to those sincere.  And most of all Vibe If you have been able to keep your composure through out this whole introduction I want you to know, i am very glad, and very proud that you brought to my attention and invited me here to this group. I love it here.           [ send green star]

hello August 16, 2006 4:29 PM

Hello everyone.  I'm new to the group. I live on the family farm and have many animals under my care. I have free range  flocks of geese, ducks, chickens and guineas (and pigeons that I've rescued and handfed along with some pet doves). As strictly companions I have a 15 month old Jack Russell Terrier that I call Ling (it's a long story.) she's the apple of my eye. And my fiance and I share a beautiful 4 y/o red 'poundpuppy', "Puppers" and a handsome goofy Border Collie puppy named Pippin (he is so intense and wonderful) and he is just under a year and was a rescue. We also share a 'set' of ferrets, they are Mr. Weasley and Swiffer respectively. Swiffer is only a couple months old and Mr Weasley is a little over a year. We also have three cats between us. Two girls; 3 year old Noners (*NO-ners* cause that's all I said to her for the first few weeks we had her.."Noners kitty, get off of that lamp!"), Zilla who is aprox 6 months and then our boy, Crookshanks (really original, huh?). We call him Cranky tho lol And on top of that we share a small herd of dairy goats that *just guess!* free range and a guard Alpaca "Griff" and two mix breed horses, Dusty and Orion (older then the hills). Anyway.. this should sum up my intro. Maybe I should have split this up into two messages lol Anyway.. thanks! I look forward to learning more about natural care!

Hi All July 29, 2006 12:20 PM

ShyzzaSays Hi               Tweek

         Shyzza                 &                   Tweek

These are my babies and I also kitty sit for my son quite often so there are usually 5 critters and myself co-existing in one apartment. Thankfully It's a huge upstairs/down stairs/ enclosed back poorch and and attic deal so every one gets his or her space. Tweek has made himself a nice little bachlor pad on the back poorch. He comes and goes through a hole in the wall that was made for a dryer vent. I'm going to try to get a sand box back there for him. I know he has to miss playing on the beach. As long as I keep fresh greenbeans in the fridge he's content. He will complain if the water is not absolutly fresh. He's got me trained so when he walks over to the bowl I automaticly pick it up, rinse it out, refill it, add a couple of ice cubes then put it back down for him. If I'm not in the kitchen he comes to get me and leads me back in there.

Shyzza is my shadow, especially since she came down with Adrenal Desease. She curels up right under my chin and nibbels at my toes when she wants attention. She has this look that she gives to the cats in the house right now that makes even the biggest and meanest of'em turn and run. She is very spunky and communicates quite well with her eyes and body language.

Loki, a pure white full blooded Manx, who thinks he is mine. He and Shyzza have tangeled a couple of times. Shyzza usually wins. What is she going to do when that little boy gets bigger??? And he looks like he's going to be huge. Luckily he is a mild mannered gentile guy, nothing like the girls in his family.

Cheeba, Loki's sister is a tabby striped calico. She's georgeous. Together her and Loki look like a mini white lion and a rainbow tiger. I'll get pics soon to show everyone.

The big girl in the house right now is Valkarie. She doesn't like any of us and only puts up with me because I feed her. She has been getting more affectionate lately but I think it's because she's trying to sweet talk me into letting her outside. Val is Loki & Cheeb's big sister from a couple litters before.

When my son gets back it'll just be me and the ferrets, maybe Loki too. My son actually got him for me when he found out Shyzza was going to die. He knows that I don't do the replace the loss of a critter with another critter thing but he also knew if my baby girl died I'd be devistated. Since I'd be busy taking care of another baby it would keep my mind occupied.

Shyzza is live and well. She's not going to go to the grave so easily. She's takeing some nice healthy nutrients that were a gift from Vibe, and as long as she has meds she's fine. The vet says it's more economical to have the operation but there are a couple of factors keeping that from happning right now.  One is money the onther is a trust issue I'm having with our family vet. If anyone wants more info on all of that, Shyzza has her own group to explain it. You can find the link on my page.

I'm an eco artist/producer/educator. I've just published my website www.ecoart.us It's not much but at least it's there. I'm doing every thing all by my self and I'm disabled so I'm usually tired and achey. But I keep myself going because the world needs to learn the stuff I'm teaching. I hope it will catch on soon because it's starting to hurt. I know if I can't get 501c3 non-profit status, a sponsor or private funding by the end of the exhibit I'm having in Sept. I probably will not be able to handle, physically or financiall another project for quite a while if ever again.

Hi, Steve!  Great seeing you here!  For that matter, it's great seeing EVERYONE here!!!

Yep, being a group host takes time, especially for groups about holistic health, because for one thing, we discuss serious topics like Natural First Aid for Pets and Your Rights and Animal Rights, and we even have Audio/Video Presentations to watch while we're here, so that's fun!  AND we have Food -- Recipes!  YAY!!!

Welcome!  Please feel free to introduce us to your animal friends by posting here:  http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc.html?gpp=7435&pst=420726&archival=

We want to meet your rescued dog and your two old cats, and anyone else's pet here!

THanks for joining our group, and thanks for taking the time to learn about natural health for your pets.  It's easier to just do things like everyone does, but in the long run, your pets will thank you for taking the extra time to learn how to help keep them well before they have to go and be locked up at a cage overnight at the vet's!

Lots of big slurpy wet doggies kisses...

WELCOME!!! May 27, 2006 8:20 AM

Hi, folks!  I'm so happy to see more people interested in learning more about how nature works to keep animals well!

Be sure to introduce us to your pets, and if please feel free to add to our threads or create a new thread of your own.

Questions, comments, experience, opinions and facts are all welcome here.  This is a group to explore the vast regions of natural health...Restrictions inhibit the urge to explore, don't you think?  So if it's on your mind, feel free to bring it up here, in regards to animals and natural health!

Thanks for joining our group!!! May 24, 2006 10:05 AM

Hi, Tsunio!  I'm soooo happy to see you here!  Thank you for accepting my invitation!  I hope you like this group.  I think it's a lot of fun, and it's shaping up to be a pretty good group!

Be sure to check out all the threads, and please, everyone, feel free to add!

I'd like to see this be a place where we talk about all sorts of animals, from guinea pigs to birds to the poor creatures we keep in the zoos.

I'd like to explore the ways in which animals naturally live, and I'd like to see how we can help our pets at home be healthier in accordance with the way they were designed...ways to bring out their natural strengths instead of weakening them with surgery and drugs.

When surgery and drugs are used, however, I'd like to talk about ways we can help them get over the side effects and heal through the experience more quickly, so they don't suffer as much.

I want this to be a place where people can all share their experiences in relation to animals, with natural healing in mind.  This isn't so much the place to discuss conventional ways, but I'm not one to censor, so if anyone has something they want to share in that regard, too, it's okay.

It's important to be aware of the whole picture.  That's why I don't censor--I don't want the job of deciding who's point of view is valid or not; I think there's merit in what everyone says!

So, please take part in the group in any way you would like, and feel free to invite others as well.

The main objective here is to try and give back to the animals what we have taken from them, and let them lead natural lives!!!

Don't forget to introduce your animal friends to us here!

Welcome and Introduction to Pets

Love,

Vibe

Hello Vibraceous and Everyone!

I love and deeply respect all non-human animals.  Although I have 4 cats, I am also devoted to ending all cruelty toward and abuse of dogs, particularly that of:

1.  HLS (Human Life Science Labs), which tortures and kills baby Beagles systematically through ridiculous experiments, created exclusively for PROFIT;

2.  IAMS (!!!), which tortures dogs with several different heinous experiments (and then KILLS them afterwards) in the guise of "nutrition studies."  (DON'T BUY IAMS, please, and do write to them, protesting and informing them of your boycott of their products.)

3.  IDITAROD Dog Sled Race, which has been and should be renamed "Iditarod Dog Kill Race," in which teams of dogs in Alaska are forced to run over 1,100 miles within a few days in subzero temperatures, frequently literally "dropping dead" at the end of the race, as well as sustaining permanent lung and eye damage, just to list a few of the abuses.

I'm not sure if certain diseases are covered anywhere on this site, so I will list my question regarding Epilepsy in dogs as a new topic.

All best to you all!

gabriella

p.s.  Thank you for writing in 12 points!  (3 on Care2)  Some of us can't read small print.

Thanks for the invite Sandy!

Hi peeps! I see so many of my friends are already here--cool!

For those of you that don't know me yet, I'm Terrie, I live in Texas with 5 dogs and a husband (last time I checked LOL). I am a former RMT and have been using Canine Massage on my older dogs for years now and they are NOT on any meds like Rimidyl. I massage them at least 2x a week and have had great results.

I hope this will be a group where we can share info and learn from eachother

Hugs,

Terrie

Hey! February 20, 2006 6:16 AM

and thanks Sandy for the invite. I am already a member but had not really been back to the group since joining. I am doing my best to have all my animals on hololistic foods (Nutro Max) and love them with all my heart. My son says I feed my dogs and cat better than I do myself which is totally true. I am looking for ways to incorporate the natural into their lives as much as possible. I have 6 dogs now and 1 cat. Three are rescued from abuse/neglect homes, 2 are from Hurricane Katrina where I worked for a week at Lamr Dixon, and 1 which I planned on getting. Right now I do not have a way to upload pics of them but will try to get something up before too long. It is good to be here. Looking forward to getting to know this group. Wish I could learn Reiki, my dogs could benefit from it.  [ send green star]

Hello!  thank you for the invite I have a maine coon cat 23 pounds who has to eat low ph cat food because of a urinary problem since he was a baby.  I havent been able to find natural cat food because of it.

I have just started to use the worlds best cat litter all natural made out of corn no perfumes, dyes, silica. It is dust free and I love it not only that it does clump, but you can flush it.... I am so excited because the other clay litter would clump so hard it was impossible to clean. Its amazing! www.waggintails.com

I think this group is a super idea! I know of people ( myself included) who would love to learn more about taking care of our companion animals in a more natural way. I am always looking for different herbs that will help my catss instead of giving them man-made drugs. I work for a feline vet, so I can get vet care for my kids anytime, but would rather do it naturally. I just hope to learn more here. Thak You!  [ send green star]

Welcome and Introductions to People January 13, 2006 3:38 AM

Hi!  Welcome to A Dog-Gone Good Natural Pets Group!

All pets deserve to live all naturally.  That's how they would live without human involvement.  Let's explore ways together to give them the best of what nature and God would give them!

We were given dominion over the animals.  To me, this means they were put in our care.  This is the place to talk about finding all natural ways to take the best care of them that we possibly can!

My name is Mary, or Jody, your preference.  My full name is Mary Jo, so that's how the two names came about!

I am a doctor of naturopathy, and an avid animal lover.  I love all my fellow creatures the same.  I believe we are all creatures of God.

I've had pets my whole life.  Right now we have two dogs and two cats.  There's another topic, however, where we can introduce our pets to each other.  This topic is for people, okay?

So, I've told you about me.  Please tell us about you!
