Case for week of 7/30-8/5 July 25, 2006 6:31 PM

All info for the supported case will go in this thread.  The group hosts will decide which case meets the criteria based on the severity of the injuries and the survival probability.  I do not want to sound cruel by any means but it simply makes more sense to help an animal that has more chance for survival over one that has such injuries that make survival unlikely even with surgery.  [ send green star]

Puppy - 2 front elbows Broken - Needs Surgery July 31, 2006 10:44 AM

************ *** PLEASE CROSSPOST FAR AND WIDE !!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! ************ *** Hi everyone This precious baby girl has not yet been named. We rescued her from Animal Control a few days ago after she was brought in as a stray. She is a 4 month old black and white Pit Bull mix. Her 2 front elbows are broken and will need extensive reconstructive surgery. According to AC, she was hit across the chest with an object such as a baseball bat, but no one knows for sure. She can not walk on her 2 front legs, so she either crawls on one side of her face or she hops like a kangaroo. No one has told her she has been through a major trauma because she has no idea. She is very sweet and loving, gives the best wet kisses and loves to get her belly petted. It still amazes me that an animal with such extensive injuries can still be so friendly and loving. If I had just ONE broken leg, I don't think I would be giving anyone kisses lol Like most of U, Happy PAWs doesn't have the $3,000.00 necessary for her surgery, but I didn't have any doubt we would come up with it which is why I didn't hesitate taking her after I was told she was going to be put down. So of course, once again, another fur baby needs Ur help !!! I am enclosing and attaching a few pics of this very special baby girl. There are a few ways U can donate ... 1. Click on Make A Donation and U will be directed to PayPal 2. U can copy and paste the following into Ur web browser and U will also be direct to PayPal https://www. paypal.com/ cgi-bin/webscr? cmd=_xclick&business=zee% 40happypawsindy% 2ecom&item_name=Pit% 20Bull%20mix% 20%2d%20Surgery&no_shipping= 2&no_note=1&tax=0&currency_code= USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF% 2d8 3. U can send a check to our Vet - Noah's All Pet Animal Hospital 3825 West Washington Street Indianapolis, IN 46241 317.481.1738 C/O Happy PAWs - Pit Bull mix puppy - Surgery 4. Or U can send payment directly to us at Happy PAWs Animal Rescue 7915 S. Emerson Avenue, Suite B #179 Indianapolis, IN 46237-9708 and as promised, here are a few pictures of this precious baby girl ...

This is just awful! She looks so happy for a baby that has been through so much trauma!

I just opened a PayPal account tonight and I will be sending out some money for her in the morning. ( I hope I do it right- I have never had a PayPal account) I will post as soon as the money is sent. I know with all the caring people here on this group (and others) we should be able to raise the money needed for her surgery.

Thank you for posting this and Please let us know how she is doing.

Janet, did you take in this sweet girl or is she already adopted?

You guys are making me cry.    You are all so wonderful.

No, I don't have her - wish I did!  She's with the rescue.  I just emailed the lady about her, so as soon as I hear something, I'll let everyone know.

Her name is Roo! August 01, 2006 3:28 AM

I got an e-mail yesterday from them with an update on Roo.  I copied it for you.

Wanted to let U know Roo (we named her after a Winnie the Pooh character) is doing great and is actually using her front legs a little bit to balance while she walks.  We have an appointment to see Dr. Lee in Anderson, Indiana tomorrow and hopefully he will give us some good news which I will share with U.

Since we asked for help on 07.27.06 we have have received an overwhelming amount of donations from throughout the US and I am proud to say as of right now, we have collected (through PayPal alone) ...

 Paypal Account Balance
 U.S. Dollar$1,504.24 USD

I can not express how grateful I am for the generosity U and others like U have offered Roo.  There is still alot more money that needs to be collected for her surgery, but I have no doubt we will get it somehow.

Thanks again for donating towards Roo surgery.  I will send out a progress update e-mail later in the week.

Here is a pic I took of Roo Saturday on our way home from the Adoption Center.  She was sitting up (like a person) on the back seat and that's how she rode all the way home.  Too dang cute !!!

Oh, every time I look at that sweet face I wish I could take her.  I won't be in a position to take in any more for several months though.

It breaks my heart to think that someone could actually hurt this sweetheart.  She is so adorable.

I sent my donation to Happy Paws through Paypal!

( I sure hope I did it right- I just opened an account- tired of mailing in donations!)

I was going to suggest naming her "Roo" but I didn't know if that would be received well or not- But it fits- Good for her. EVERY pet deserves a name!!!

Please keep us posted- She is so Precious!!

Roo is home! August 03, 2006 5:58 AM

I got this e-mail this morning....

Hi again everyone !!!

This time I am sending one e-mail to everyone who has donated instead of individually, it's alot easier

Great news !!!  Roo is home and doing great !!!   She needs to stay off her front feet for 2 weeks but that might be a little difficult.  I put her in a crate and she didn't stop crying for the whole hour she was in there, so back to the lap she went.  She seems to be in a little bit of pain, but that's only normal.  She's on pain meds and antibiotic and she goes back to the Vet for a checkup in 3 weeks.

Thanks so much to all of U for making this happen.  It is great to know that there are kind and generous people out there who make a difference.

Here is a pic I took of Roo a little bit ago ...
Thanks again everyone and I will be in touch soon with an update.

XOXOXOXOXOXO

Here's the photo that's not showing up in Sharon's post.

I got the same email and she didn't mention anything about whether or not donations were still needed, but I'm assuming everything has been take care of... ???  Thoughts??

Yes, I wondered the same thing.  I'm assuming that they must have gotten all they needed?

Maybe we should e-mail and ask.

Reply to my email this morning August 03, 2006 12:59 PM

Hi everyone,  I e-mail Zee this morning and asked if they had collected all they needed for Roo.  Here is her response:

Hi Sharon

No, we are still about $700.00 short but donations are still coming, so I'm hopeful.

Thanks for all U do

UPDATE ON ROO August 17, 2006 7:30 AM

I RECEIVED THIS E-MAIL FROM THE SHELTER ABOUT ROO.

Hi everyone !!!

Wanted everyone to know that Roo is doing great !!!  We haven't been back to the Vet because he is on vacation until next week (the nerve of him) but Roo is walking and using her front legs more and more each day.  She still sits up like a kangaroo every once in a while, but I think she does that because she knows she will get the "awwwwwwwwww" and be picked up.  She's a spoiled brat I tell ya !!!

Roo has also been a very busy beaver helping me with the baby kittens.   She cleans them up after each feeding and stimulates them to go potty.  Then once everyone is clean, it's play time and then cuddle time, which Roo does so well.

Thanks again to everyone who has been part in making this happen for Roo.  I wish U could all meet her and see what a special little girl she is.

XOXOXOXOXO
Zee, Roo and the rest of the gang
