This can be a quiet group. Life seems very busy out there. But I notice when someone joins.
Welcome to the group and hope there are things posted, info you would be interested in.
Feel free to post supportive threads of your own as well. Members are always free to do so, all we ask is no overly political arguments. Info on Veterans affairs, support article links, etc. are welcome.
Hope your weekend is great and thanks for joining!
Jacki

I have a website, www.fundraising-solutions.org, that many veterans' groups have joined and are having good success raising funds at no cost to themselves or anyone else, other than any of the 1500 merchants that have agreed to rebate up to 25% of each sales. I am inviting any of you that are active in helping veterans overcome the obstacles to normalcy to register your organization at the site.

Hello. I just joined and what a pleasant surprise to find a group that understands that supporting our Vets and people serving now has nothing to do with politics

Greetings all! I'm Beverly, former Navy brat and proud American. I don't always agree with our government but I am so proud of our country and those who have served and continue to serve in our military. They are the ones who have made our country what it is and I am grateful to them all.

Beverly and Sidney to the group and all new members.
Politics touch everything we do, but we do as little of that as possible here.
We are talking the human eliment..what matters in all we do. Veterans have put themselves where most people have NEVER been and will never (hopefully) see. How in a compassionate mind can one NOT support them?
You are so welcomed to support the human eliment, even within the chaos of our time.
Cheers and Commeraderie,
Jacki

Thank you so much for the warm welcome Jacki! We ask so much of our military and they are always there for us. Where would be without them? For me they are true heroes.

Hey all June 27, 2007 9:51 PM
I didn't get a chance to drop a line the other day when I joined thought I would.
My name is Gary, I'm from Des Moines, IA. I volunteer for the several of the Veteran's Service Organizations (VSO's).
I am a 15 year Army Veteran that is disabled.
I am always trying to raise awareness for military benefits and rights.
Site looks good for what I got to see of it. I plan to do some more broswing at it a little later.
I'm glad to see folks looking out for us Veterans and our benefits. We do appreciate and take nothing for granted. On the behalf of all my brothers and sisters we do thank you for your devoted support.
Thank you Jacki, for the invite and I will try to pass on information as I get it. It's slow in the summer as I stay home with the kids. When school starts back up I'm at the Veteran's Affiars Medical Center (VAMC).
Right now at least here in Des Moines the VAMC is offering a Chronic Illness self management course to veterans and their spouses or care provider. I believe it is free to veterans and spouse, etc.
Check with educator's office in your area to find out more. I thought it was a very good self managent course as I took in March 07. It was put together by the folks at Stanford University. So you be assured it is well thought out and prepared.
I learned quite a bit and I take any course that they offer regarding my health as you never know what you might learn or get from the course.
I also took the Diabetes courses I & II and learned more than I thought I would. I use some of it everyday has I have Diabetes type II.
If you are a Veteran returning from a tour or tours of combat and or military duty and need Mental Health (MH or MHC) (Mectal Health Center) information or feel you need to talk with someone they have some of the best docs around to assist in any concern, question, and /or problem you may have. Please, seek help.
Myself and some of the brothers I volunteer with at VAMC, see the MH docs all time to help deal wtih the civilian, martial, and just plain ole life in general. Don't do the deed we can help you deal with those concerns. Please seek help you've more than earned it, we all want and need you around. I sincerely mean that from my heart! No one worth a spit is going think anything less of you. No one evens needs to know that you are going and it is confidential. Even it I can't spell it. LOL!
OOPS , who is Carol? but , I wish to clarify, Nancy is the head honcho, awesome host here. I am a founding cohost.
It is ok Gary, you are the fifth candidate for host. We would love it if you would be as active a member as you can. If I haven't already, I will be sending you friend req. We can talk easier that way. I will contact Nancy to have you put in as I can't as cohost.
Nancy is a very busy person. I try to keep an eye here and post when I can.
Talk with you soon.

this time when we got our cash back from our taxes i
got him some supplies to make german beer i even got him a recipe book with a lot of german recipies in it. he loves this german beer cause he
was in the army over there. our first investment in it all with the
ingredients and all that was only about $140 that is for 5 gallons of
beer. after that it is only going to be $ 36 for each batch now he is
so happy it isnt funny. so if beer is your thing you may want to
think of making your own. or own own wine, i grew up in an italian
house with lots of wine at all the meals and my grandparents made wine
from all sorts of stuff, apples and strawberries and peaches. it was always a wonderful part of my being kid. i am dating a wonderful vet. he is my life. i know how lucky i am though hugs love and prayers to you and yours tonia
