HELP US LAUNCH A NEW CAMPAIGN: ENDTORTURE.NET
TELL YOUR LEADERS: THE U.S. MUST BE ABOVE TORTURE!
Throughout its history, the United States has championed the rule of law and universal human rights, including freedom from torture.
Unfortunately the Bush administration’s treatment of prisoners has led to unethical interrogation policies that wrongly justify torture as acceptable. This abuse of power runs counter to the values of freedom and justice that many Americans have worked tirelessly to promote.
These damaging policies work to increase the national security threat to our country, as friend and foe now question whether we believe in human rights and the rule of law. Our elected leaders owe it to us and the global community to fully investigate these fundamental breaches in the rule of law.
Citizens for Global Solutions believes the only way this can be done is through the creation of an Independent Bipartisan Commission on Interrogation.
This Commission must be a fair representation of both political parties. It would bring together a diverse group of experts who understand the complexity of the issue and are able to make balanced judgments based on sound conclusions. The findings must be released in full to the American people.
Sign the petition to tell your elected officials that it is in the best interests of U.S. national security to create an Independent Bipartisan Commission on Interrogation.

On May 17, 2004, UFPJ’s national Steering Committee adopted a UFPJ position. Here it is.
1. Bring the U.S. troops home now.
2. Iraqi sovereignty must be reestablished immediately.
3. The Iraqi people, not foreigners, should make the decisions about the future of their country, including security. Iraqis should decide the structure of their economy and control Iraq's reconstruction. The corporate invasion of Iraq must be ended and the privatizations laws passed under the occupation repealed. Labor and human rights should also be guaranteed.
4. The United States should pay for the reconstruction of and reparations to Iraq, in accordance with international law.
5. The United Nations and other international organizations should refuse to endorse or collaborate with the U.S. occupation of Iraq. But once the U.S. ends its occupation, if representative sectors of Iraqi society invite it, the UN, backed by other international bodies such as the Arab League and the Organization of the Islamic Conference, should help the Iraqis establish mechanisms through which to choose their own leaders and reclaim sovereign control of their own country.
