I am seething.... March 21, 2005 5:51 AM

This Sunday I was enjoying a wonderful day with my husband and 3 small girls when the phone rang. On the other end was a recording. This recorded voice was spewing a message in regards to gays, and not allowing them to marry, and gave a website in fact. www.massmarraige.com I was fuming by the time I got off the phone. I may be a heterosexual woman, but I am firmly convinced that gays should have the opportunity to marry. Gay people marrying does not effect my life in any way at all, so why should I even care one way or the other, really? I was incensed that they dare call my house to spit their hate, on a Sunday no less. What if one of my daughters had answered the phones? They have an uncle who is gay and is totally accepted for the wonderful person he is. I am outraged about this entire situation and am going to launch a complaint on their website. Are their any other actions that I can take to shut this garbage down? Peace and Love to all of you Wendy  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Maybe a letter to the editor would help -- it'd unfortunately spread the link, but it also might spur more protest.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

unbelievable! March 22, 2005 6:23 AM

where do you live? i can't understand how this is legal! we should have our own recorded message to call ppl during monday night football asking them to support gay marriage. !!!! no, i guess that wouldn't fly too well either. i have a caller id box and an answering machine that tell the caller that we don't accept "blocked" numbers from leaving messages. i got that(at&t model) at best buy for about 30 $. i'd rather warn myself ahead of time, then listen to thier stupid message. steph  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Wendy...The best I can tell you is to keep spreading the word on GLBT sites and forums. At some point an activist who has some juice will contact you and help you shut them down.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

To seething March 29, 2005 10:05 AM

Its tough to imagine living in a country that promotes freedom as it's banner, yet is so slow to act on those freedoms. Some follow a manmade moral, and a right by might thinking. They follow a path that has been trumpeted in their mind and heart that if we do not follow this path then we are morally bankrupt, and lost with no hope. They neglect to see freedom as a ever present right, and the lack in their heart to anything that isnt within their grasp of understanding. Sadly their only limit themselves to a closed minded group with no hope of peace, happiness and self acceptence. We are far better off then those people. We are open minded, understanding, and dislike putting anyone in a box. We stand on our own, and dont confuse fables with facts, we know who and what we are in our hearts. We are far more open minded and sympathetic to causes. we understand what its like to be left out and looked down upon, and we steadfastedly stand up for our rights and the ights of others. Don't let a few unknowledgable people ruin a day or take aminute of your prescious time, they are missing out on you and are have a loss for it Sincerely, Shannon  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
