Man oh man, don'cha just want so badly to pick at least one up and kiss and pet and love and cuddle him/her?!! My arms are now aching to hug a kitten!! Maybe I should run up to our local shelter tomorrow.

Thanks, Ariel. SWEET to the enth degree are these babes!

I feel the same way, Cheryl. British shorthair are gorgeous kittens and beautiful grown up cats. Their fur is soft and luxurious.

Here are 2 adorable Kiwi bird chicks!

THEY ARE SO ADORABLE, BARB! Isn't it truly incredible that there are so many species of animals and birds? I am dumb-struck with awe at times when I see how so many different creatures inhabit this earth. God knows, they need humans to PROTECT, not destroy them.

Thanks so much for this awesome video showing these amazing babies!

My Tweets is fine, thanks Barb. My 22-23 year old senior is cranky and very protective over his cage and we've JUST LEARNED that this is how these males are naturally! It makes us laugh when he's so cranky and we think that's why he has those red cheeks! lol

I hope Baby and Beenie are doing well. Have they thoroughly adapted to their new surroundings?

Here is another video of the cute little white Kiwi chick and they show the cute little brown one too.

Hi Cherly we are posting at the same time!  Awesome!

Yes my birds are doing well and getting more use to the surroundings all of the time.

You know my birds are both males and very protective of their cages too.  lol.

Hi Barb -- I love being in the same room at the same time! It's almost like we're having a coffee together or we're on the phone!

So glad to hear your babes are doing well, and that's funny that yours are both males (I thought one was a female). Do you have more than one cage -- like, each one has his own?

how sweet they are gordeous thanks Barb

Yes Cheryl I have 2 cages.  One for each bird.  The younger one, Beenie, tends to bully the older one, Baby.  Beenie pushes Baby around too much, so I put Baby in his cage to rest.  It's all because Baby won't let Beenie preen him.  lol.  Goodness Gracious, Beenie gets so upset too.

You are most welcome Mary.  I am glad you enjoyed the little Kiwis!

That's interesting about your male birds, Barb. Is it because they're both male that Beenie pushes Baby around?

I loved the video about the kiwi chicks. They're so cute..especially the white one. Thanks for posting that for us!

Great big kiwi hugs. lol

You are most welcome Lynn

Beenie pushes Baby around because he decided he is the dominent bird even though Baby is older than him.  Baby use to push his parakeet friend around that was older than him.  And Baby loved the parakeet Buddy very much.  Beenie loves Baby very much too, but besides wanting to be the dominant bird, Beenie gets very frustrated when Baby will not let Beenie preen (groom) his feathers.

Birds have a hiearchy system.  It's natural.  lol.

What a great story, Barb! I had to sit for a few minutes and try to think about who was who and who did what to whom.

That's funny about Baby not letting Beenie preen him! Like my guy, if he only would let Baby do that he'd probably like it! If only our little guy would allow us to scratch his head he'd probably love it. His hanging mirror is his "Buddy" and he rolls the mirror around his head gently while talking lovingly to it. I saw a video recently (somewhere) where a Cockatiel made a little stuffed toy on the floor his "Buddy" and got real cosy with it as if it was a real bird.

Polar Bear Cub Siku is Healthy and Growing

Polar Bear Cub Siku is Healthy and Growing

This is an update on the polar bear cub named Siku who is being fed by people, after the mother wasn’t producing enough milk. Images of Siku when he was newly born made him something of an Internet star.

If all the humans on Earth were as concerned about polar bears and wildlife as much as the man in the first video is, surely the bears would be better off, and we would all be working to reduce the impact of climate change, which is damaging their habitat.

The first video shows Siku at 66 days. He weighs nine kilos and appears to have a very healthy appetite. In the second video he is eleven kilos, but it is just thirteen days later. This rapid weight gain is indicative of good health. The last one is of him at 32 days, and shows how much he has grown since the time when he was very small and not particularly mobile. (This was the mostly eating and sleeping stage.)

how beautiful thanks for this Lynn

Absolutely adorable! It's too bad, however, that mama bear couldn't feed her little one. Even though she couldn't feed him, I bet she misses her babe. I couldn't help but take a few screenshots.

People here in BC are absolutely disgusted with the decision by some gov't official to 'put down' two brown baby bears (about two weeks old, without their eyes open even) after a &%$Z@ logging truck ran into the place where the mama and her cubs were living. Mother bear ran off (of course). They showed the babies on the news after they were found and to know they were put down is unforgivable!

Dogs can be athletic just like their humans! We've seen some dogs who really love to get out and active in some very funny ways. I wanted to share these videos with you today. I think you will get a kick out of them.

First is a Lab named Flo and she LOVES to take the high dive. Check it out!

Hi Lynn, Cheryl, Ariel, Mary.

Wow amazingly talented dogs!!!  Very athletic.  The basket ball playing dog wears little boots!  Did you notice that? And amazing story of the little dog that survived in the desert 53 days and finally got found after the horrible car crash.

Wow!

And what a cute dog that puts away all of his toys.  So cute!

Hi Barb, Lynn, Mary, Ariel and others!

Ariel, I left a comment on that wonderful article. I do believe there was a "helping hand" in getting that precious dog back to his owner who really needed him. Thanks for sharing the link here!

Lynn, the videos are wonderful! Those dogs are so cute and look like they are enjoying themselves. But I have to say that the cat video really got to me. I showed it to my son and he got some great laughs too. What silly, zany, make-you-laugh animals they are. Thanks so much for posting them.

Barb, I've seen the gorilla one but I just had to watch it again. I have always been fascinated by primates because so many seem to act like humans in another body. The silver back is absolutely incredible. He protects his big family so well and they listen (I would too!). Thanks for posting it so I could see it again.

I looked at the Siku Cam just before watching the videos and he is so funny and cute. It is snowing where he is and a woman was in there playing with him. He is rolling and reaching and pawing everything in sight, including the woman. I couldn't help but take a few screenshots:

That is so funnnnnny! Ya just can't watch that without laughing yourself. Notice how baby can stop laughing so suddenly then erupt with laughter again. It's wonderful how animals can make babies laugh. It's great to start them off with an animal very young if possible.

Thanks, Lynn. Does a body good to laugh!

An eagle is flying high again, thanks to a few months of tender loving care.

The Sarvey Wildlife Care Center released a bald eagle in Burien Saturday morning.

The wildlife center worked since December to help the bird regain endurance after determining the eagle had an injury that healed improperly.

"You know, I've been doing this for 30 years and it doesn’t get old. It really doesn't. I mean each bird is like each person. It's an individual and you root for it,” said Kestrel SkyHawk

The Sarvey Wildlife Center estimates it takes in more than 4,000 patients each year.

Go here to see the video of the beautiful eagle being released by a wonderful lady!

Oh wow, Barb, those birds are amazing and gorgeous!! And I don't think many people can resist the joy that comes with seeing the release of a animal or bird back into the wild! I spent some time looking at the websites and what amazing people these rescuers are. I saw "PaPa" - a 17 year old Cockatiel in there (I can imagine how long those parrots live). Incredible love and patience has gone into caring for some of these abandoned/abused birds and to think one has a vocabulary of 250 words and knows all the other parrots' names!!! Woweee!! Thanks so much for posting all this wonderful info.

Lynn, those dogs are soooooo cute! It's hard to believe the dog with the basketball can do that! He should be some team's mascot, for sure. The Corgis with the pole ball look like they're having such great fun. What a great toy! Thanks for posting these great videos.

Baby Bird Cradled in My Hands
194 comments Baby Bird Cradled in My Hands

Written by Lana Winter of Ontario, Canada

On a late afternoon last May, my partner and I were walking home from a friend’s house when we saw an older man standing on the sidewalk, looking down at something lying there. As we approached, what we’d thought was perhaps a piece of gum or other small bit of trash started to move: it was a tiny baby bird, completely featherless, with its eyes still sealed shut.

I immediately scooped it up into my hands, and we told the man that we would take it home. It was only then that we realized that he was developmentally disabled, and seemed to have been guarding the little one. He nodded, said “OK!” and walked off, and we just stood there with this tiny, fragile little life cradled in my hands.

For the entire walk home, I think I prayed to every power out there that we’d be able to save the bird. Before we left the area where we’d found him, we had looked around for a nest that it may have fallen out of, but the closest possibility seemed to be an overhang above a storefront, and that was a good 12 feet above our heads. Both sparrows and starlings were flitting around, so we guessed our little foundling was one of those species, but there was no indication of which it was.

Oh Lynn both adorable and wonderful videos!  And this little baby sparrow is so adorable!!!  I love the mother duck and her babies!

Oh wow Lynn! These got both Barb and I crying (for joy!)

What a incredible story that warms the heart about the little sparrow. I think this little one was put there on purpose. In my belief, Spirit works with animals but especially birds and little things like dragonflies and ladybugs. It was meant that THAT man came along to guard the baby until this couple got there. Not only has this little bird enhanced and changed their lives, they did this video and wrote the story for it to touch the lives of others.

So... what is it telling us? "He sees every sparrow that falls..." - for one. Humans or whatever has been given life is important and has worth, no matter what challenges it may have.

And the momma duck with her ducklings... affect a large number of people who were in a rush to get somewhere, or had something 'deep' on their mind, before they came along. Cars come to a stop, people's protective instincts emerge, and THERE ARE SMILES EVERYWHERE! She and her ducklings say, "Stop and smell the roses today and look around you at all the wonderful things in this world there are to see!"

Obviously I enjoyed these posts, Lynn. Thanks for bringing us a whole lot of smiles!

P.S. I think humans passed the tests on both occasions!

I don't know how I missed these....

What an incredible experience with the whale and her calf!! Those people were braver in that little boat than I would have been. Sheesh! But the whale was probably getting a kick out of the attention and certainly wasn't short on curiosity. Thanks, Lynn. I felt like I was on that boat a few times. lol

Mary, I came to post the one about the wolves and that ALPHA woman and I couldn't believe you had been on the same thread! Awesome! The ducklings are SOOOO cute and that man was very kind to put the step there. I don't think momma duck was too thrilled about him approaching and she'll never know just how this human helped her babies. Thanks, sis. It is such a cute video.

A kitten named Marshmallow who weighed only 2.3 ounces at birth — 60 percent of the average weight of a newborn kitten — is defying the odds and looks like she’s going to make it.  The little kitten spent her first month of life on heating pads and in heated “rice socks,” all under the watchful care of her mother, Mochi, as Raw Story notes. ”Marshy” is now seven times her original weight and is ready to move beyond the box where she’s been spending her days under Mochi’s watchful eyes.

If your Wednesday has been filled with a few more frustrations than you’d like, this video of “Marshy” at one month may cheer you up.

Lynn - I know the woman was safe from those who were being a bit snarly with one another but I wouldn't want to be in the middle of the two. I think alpha wolf would have protected her. They were all like welcoming puppies! Many wolves in sanctuaries form relationships with humans but I've never seen a wild pack of wolves do this with any human. Amazing.

Lynn - The little wolf is so adorable and the scenery magnificent. I'd like to watch the whole movie! And the dog with basketball -- I think there are some NBL players who can't do as well! LOL

Mary -- the cows were so happy to see and feel that grass and who can't smile watching that? It is wonderful to see cows being treated so well and you can tell they feel GOOD! Thanks for video. It's comforting to watch and I wish all dairy farmers were as good.

This is a great thread to look back on. Thanks sisters and brothers!

So happy you liked the elephant birth video Lynn and Mary. I cried too! This isn't a video but the story of two entirely different animal species who have bonded in friendship. Quite beautiful to see.
                             ***************************

Busch Gardens Tampa is celebrating an anniversary for a very special relationship. April 16 marked the one-year anniversary of the first time park guests got to see an 8-week-old male cheetah cub and a 16-week-old female yellow labrador puppy start to strike up a friendship that the park’s animal experts expect to last a lifetime.

The pair — later named Kasi and Mtani — spent only supervised play times together at first. The cheetah first came to the park after its mother ceased caring for him. The 8-week-old male cheetah cub and 16-week-old female yellow labrador puppy bonded instantly. Now, a year later, they live together full time at the park’s Cheetah Run habitat and even travel together to schools, events and television studios, helping the park’s education team teach the public about the plight of cheetahs in the wild and the importance of Busch Gardens’ conservation efforts.

The incredible Koko

The gorilla in the video is the famous Koko, who knows American Sign Language and has a huge vocabulary. I've been watching her progress for years. At one time, she had a kitten with no tail. Koko signed that she's naming the kitten "All Ball" (no tail, so she figured out that the kitten was like a ball).  Anyway, All Ball ran out and was hit by a car. When the couple who teaches and handles Koko told her that All Ball had died, Koko cried and mourned the kitty for days. Koko is an amazing animal. Here's the video about it.

Recently, Koko adopted another kitten. Here's the video.

I cried when she was told about her kitty dying. I hope they had someone stay close to her night and day. To be left alone at such a time would be cruel to .... and I'm going to say it.... "someone" like KOKO, for she truly is a 'someone'.  I love that she has a new kitty to love and be loved by. Oh my, I am so emotional where KOKO is concerned!

Thanks so much Lynn and Mary. I also love the "take a look through animals eyes" because if certain people would even just give it a try they may change their mind about killing them or taking their habitat.

What a lot of enjoyment here!

You're welcome Mary! They sure love that fellow. When I was young I think I would have fallen in love with him too! LOL

Awww, Lynn, as you go along watching the video you just get more and more antsy to pick them up and cuddle and play with them. Did you know that watching something like that actually lowers one's blood pressure? Mine should be nice and normal right now. Thanks for the beautiful moments!

I took a screenshot of KOKO from that amazing video of and about her. This is just after she reached into the cage and chose a kitty for her own. Oh I love that gorilla... "person" is what I want to say.

Aaaaaawwwww... such a good mommy! She's not just encouraging pup to play... she loves it! So very nice to see these playful two and they are in a good home or they wouldn't be as healthy and playful as they are. Thanks, Lynn.
