DECORAH Nest #2 - Chicks hatched Mar. 27, 28, 31!

Link to first thread:

The 3rd chick (D14) arrived today!

It's really great that all three hatched so close together so there won't be one that doesn't get as much food because he's so much smaller. They all have a good chance to eat well but will probably fight a lot.

This is "D12" - the first chick to arrive!

Today's pics (Mar. 31) - Dad tries to get comfortable with all three wriggling chicks under him. lol

Great Video (SO CUTE!) of D12 and D13 and egg:

Oh Cheryl how did I miss this.  I was helping my sister move I think that's it.  Oh how adorable!!!  Thank you for the baby pictures and little video!

Right now Mom or Dad is sitting over the babies and has a little fish on the nest.  Oh know the fish is still alive.  That's the way it is in the wild.

The baby eagles are bigger light gray fluff balls!  They are still very young and helpless.  So adorable!

You're right Barb, they are so helpless. They ate so much the other night they couldn't walk because their crops were so big.

Oh my gosh, right now there is a terrible storm happening -- first it started to rain and we could hear the thunder and then saw the lightening - or was in visa versa?!! The chicks are right in front of mom, peeping, and she has her wings down a bit for shelter. Rain is also running down the camera.

With all this going on, mom has not budged from protecting her babes. The chatters are talking about a really bad storm coming and they're worried. It's almost 9:30 p.m. at the nest. Can you imagine it being totally black for mom (she can't see the light on her) and all that lightening happening? I'll keep my eye on this nest for awhile tonight. Scary!!

This nest has really been affected by the Midwest storms - lightening, thunder, non-stop rain, and as you can see, Mom is totally soaked, the triplets are pretty wet too, and the nest is terribly sodden.

I hope the sun comes out tomorrow and dries out this nest and its occupants! It's pretty pitiful to look at. And now the wind is whipping up.

They are dry today Cheryl and sitting peacefully in the nest.    The chicks now have grey fuzz.
