AN AWESOME QUOTE!!!! April 13, 2006 2:18 PM

"Those who experiment on animals should never be able to quiet their own conscience by telling themselves that these cruelties have a worthy aim."
-- Albert Schweitzer, physician/Nobel Laureate.

Yes, excellent.

Albert also had another one, let's see...

"Think occasionally of the suffering of others, that of which you spare yourself."

Something like that.

Terri you are so intelligent! Especially when it comes to authors and poets !

Love, Tiffany

Ask a scientist why they test on animals and they will reply, "Because they are not like us."  Ask a scientist the same question and they will reply, "Because they are like us."

Thank you Tiff!

That is so true about the scientists. If you ask me, it's ego and money.

I love that Albert quote you posted. That one is new to me.

About the scientist.. it is about ego and money and the lack of heart too! They don't care. I don't see how they could look at these poor innocent creatures everyday and do such HORRIBLE things to them! It is so saddening and sickening at the same time. Not to compare humans and animals together so much but in a way it's like taking a baby that cannot speak yet and doing the same things to them! THANK GOD FOR HUMAN RIGHTS or they would and I honestly have no doubt about that. I know they would because they actually used to do this type of stuff to people with mental illnesses. Look up Willowbrook Mental Institution and see how far we have gone from in just the past 40 and 50 YEARS!! OK I will step off my soapbox now lol!!  [ send green star]

I know about Willowbrook. I have a strange fascination with asylums. It morbidly amazes me that if we were alive even 50 years ago, we would probably be getting lobotomies and ECT. Without pain killers for our problems. Thank God we live now!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
