Spinners raise money for missing children

These people are working, pumping, and spinning for 24 hours. Some will ride 16 hours, while others for just one.

Utica resident Matt Stevenson said, "It's rough, it's definitely not easy, and it's worth it. 24 hours of pain, when you can help these kids get home, it's perfect, it's worth it."

All the money raised will go towards the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Missing Children Advisory Board President Kelli Corasanti said, "We put out posters on missing children around the world. At this point, we also do safety education programs. We do a lot of different things to help kids who are in trouble."

Organizers of the event said this isn't just a national problem.

"They happen right here too. Issues happen in other places, but they happen right here too, and the best thing that we can do is educate our kids on how to be safe," said Corasanti.

While this event is for a great cause, it does more than just raise money.

Paragon Athletic Club General Manager Tim Liddon said,

Tim Liddon Tim Liddon "What it does too is it brings a whole other entity to it--people that wouldn't regularly go out and ride a bike type of thing. And, it really brings more money in. They need more money to buy these posters, when they have the Amber Alert or something like that."

Organizer said they hope to raise around $8,000, and when all is said and done, around 9,000 miles will go on these bikes.
