Definition as to what is meant by terrorism here. April 06, 2006 10:09 AM

Terrorism like all English words has several dictionary meanings and many more individual connontations by individuals. The way I perceive Terrorism as used in this group. Would be the deliberate act of violence, indiscrimently directed towards non-combatants, for the purpose of creating random chaos with no concern over the lives of innoncent non-participants. This is seperated from war as terrorists are not legitimate soldiers, they are acting only for their own benefit or for the benefit of a group. Another way of putting it would be to call terrorism as being an act of aggresion that is in violation of the Qur'an and/or the basic rules of decency accepted by most of humanity. War is full of violence and although I oppose war, an act of declared war is not terrorism. An anti war thread would be another subject. Please feel free to add your views as you see fit. As it is essential that we all understand we are speaking of the same things.  [ send green star]

Thank You for the link Linda. I found it to be very interesting. I have heard of C.A.I.R.  before. I think it should be noted that a few Islamic organizations have some controversy over it, however I think it is best to let each individual make their own decisions.  The main thing to keep in mind, is that although every thing in it may be true, no single site or person can speak on behalf of all Muslims.  [ send green star]
