Where was this information when Judy Miller went to jail? Doesn't this constitute deliverate obstruction of justice? Isn't there some kind of law against deliberately withholding information from that type of investigation?
I think no matter which way you slice it, Dick Cheney and George Bush are guilty of contempt of court, obstruction of justice.

The Uses of Disaster.
If the Katrina catastrophe can't persuade the American people to impeach Bush and try him for his crimes, the country is probably irredeemable.
And that is certainly the case. As predicted, despite all the crushing evidence against the administration, Bush is very much off the hook.
This is why: the neoconservatives own the government, own most of the country and its productive infrastructure, own an increasing number of election mechanisms, have most of the population over a barrel one way or another through employment or debt, and have an expensive and highly-effective propaganda machine in place, including most of the major news media.
With such resources the neoconservatives can probably get away with anything. They have gotten away with everything so far. The neoconservatives have never been held accountable, and there's little reason to suppose they ever will be.
The events which would need to occur in order to motivate a change in government would have to be far more catastrophic than the events we have already seen, events so disastrous that the neoconservatives would suspend the Constitution and cement their power in a formal dictatorship anyway. A great deal of the country would be ruined and unable to oppose them.
In other words, things would have to get vastly worse before they could get better, and probably could not improve even to the level where we are now, bad as it is.
In the meantime, neoconservatives are deliberately exploiting the disaster to expand their political and economic death grip on the country. For neoconservatives, catastrophe always creates such opportunities, so they plan for them. It's policy. They said so.
Therefore, the neoconservatives can be depended upon to have foreseen such a scenario, and very much appear to actually be working for it along a number of lines, particularly in weakening the country to prevent opposition to them. Eventually they may decide to dispense with even the appearances of a democracy, which is mostly what we have now.
Notice that in New Orleans the Bush administration has now clearly established the use of storm troopers. All fascist regimes operate this way.
A number of analysts frankly do not see any solution. Therefore America you grew up with is almost certainly over, forever.
It should be obvious, from the rapacity of their policies, that the neoconservatives have no use for the US as a free country, but only as a vehicle for global military imperialism and as a corpse to bleed dry of its wealth.
The likeliest scenario for the future is that the US will continue to degrade as it has, with a relatively small number of wealthy and powerful persons in complete dominance over a poor and powerless general population, in a corporatist, militarist, religious totalitarianism.
That's what the projections say, based on the evidence, and they have been saying so for years, and have never been wrong.
