Good morning all In browsing through past topics here and in various other sites (Pagan's mostly) I've noticed that many people post good books to read and articles that deal with being a Pagan Parent. So-I propose that this thread be solely devoted to that! Here's what I picked up:

Ruthie suggested Wicca 2000 by Patricia Telesco

Jazz noted Raising Witches by Ashleen O'Gaea

Stephanie M. told us about Celebrating the Great Mother: A Handbook of Earth-Honoring Activities for Parents and Children by Cait Johnson and Maura D Shaw

And last but certainly not least... Kali (Bella) posted this article: Plastic Swords and Pentacles: Chivalry and the Rearing of Pagan Boys
http://groups.msn.com/FaeDragCas2/parenting.msnw?action=get_message&mview=0&ID_Message=1097&LastModified=4675475423856883205

Many thanks to Ruthie, Jazz, Bella, and Stephanie! And I look forward to reading other books/articles that are recommended!

Books, Cd's, etc...for children February 16, 2007 7:09 PM

My favorite children's book is "THE RAIN BABIES", but I can't read it without crying. (I'm sort of mushy I guess)

http://www.circleround.com/

This is the site, I believe their is a book also, but we have the CD, "Circle Round And Sing"-'Songs for family celebrations in the Goddess traditions'.

My children and I just LOVE it. We play it at least once a day. It's fun and celebration for all ages.

This is a fabulous board book written by my friend Katie Lydon Olivares. The illistrations are beautiful and colorful. My little witch LOVES it!

Blessed Be, Lauren

I used to play a loop of "We All Come From the Goddess" from Robert Gass and Wings of Song on a tape player for my granddaughter to help her sleep at night.  She love it, it is soothing and the sounds of the ocea in the background made it perfect sleeping music.

I'd like to tell you about a magazine that I subscribe to.  It's called 'The Triple Spiral' and is described as being for 'earth-honouring pagan families'.  Here's the website link:

just blowing my own trumpet here

I have wirtten a book being published by capall bann in sommerset,UK called natures children - a pagan parents guide to celebrating the seasons with your family. It covers the main 8 festivals with activities and ideas to do with your kids, a bit about coming of age, birthdays and dealing with loss etc. Should be out soon, perhaps enquiries will make it sooner!!!!! anyway- hope if anyone here gets a copy they enjoy it. I loved writing it.

I also get a good magazine based here in the UK. Called the green parent, there is a resident pagan/wiccan who writes about the seasons and the festivals, all kinds of ideas and interesting things for you and your family. And theres an insert called green kids, with ideas, articles and games for the children. Find on www.thegreenparent.co.uk

Ugh! No one is showing it yet where I can pre-order it, I'll have to check on Wednesday. Hopefully Lugh will be smiling on us while he blesses your book launch and let those of us in the US order it from amazon.com so we don't have to pay intenational shipping! But if we do, I'm still ordering it! I'm doing our house blessing on Lugh's day so I will add a prayer for a successful first run!! Blessed Be! Stephanie

Nature's Children

Da ta da daaaaaaaa........ I just received Rae's book! It is great!!!! Everyone must order it ASAP! It is great for picking up tips on things to do and how to communicate with your little witchling. Rae, I love that for once I am in complete agreement with the beliefs of an author on children: ie skyclad rituals, when to include your kids, etc. And I love how you tell us to pick what feels right to us. I love having more 'guidebooks'! On a personal note, reading your narrative brings back memories of talking to my Grandma Molly. Her parents emigrated from England, and she was VERY English even though she was raised in New York. She spoke what she called 'proper english' and it brings back warm memories to read your words! For your next book: In the beginning of Chptr 2 you mention keeping folk songs and other oral traditions alive. Can you print these? Or are they collected somewhere and I haven't seen it yet? I have yet to find a 'song' book for Jenna that has the traditional songs and poems of Britain in it. Also any other ones you know and would want to share. I would love to have these for her. So everyone, I highly recomend getting this!!! I ordered it off the Capall Bann website directly. If you have kids this is a great resource!!!! Blessed be, Stephanie
