I am new to the group but I have been involved with Help Sam Go To School for almost a year now. Every child should have the opportunity to attend pre-kindergarten. Please consider signing the petition. I received this in my email:
I need your help in persuading President-elect Obama that the economic recovery bill he signs in January must include funding for states to expand and protect early childhood education.
Time is short. Congress will move quickly to pass a recovery bill as soon as the legislative session begins on January 6th.
Click the link below to tell President-elect Obama to invest in pre-k!
The recovery bill passed last month did not include one cent for early childhood education despite news that parents increasingly cannot afford such programs for their children and some pre-k centers are closing their doors as a result. The new recovery bill must include money for the states to spend on pre-k classroom construction, training more quality pre-k teachers, and more.
This is no Wall Street gamble. Research has proven, again and again, that quality pre-k returns $2 or more for every dollar invested! Surely, we can invest in our economic future by making sure our young children get the right start to their education.
President-elect Obama has spoken forcefully about his belief in the importance of early education. Now is the chance for him to live up to his pre-k promises.
Click below to tell the President-elect that pre-k must be a part of any economic recovery plan.
Please forward this email on to your friends and family. If enough people write in before January 6th, we can make sure that the new year brings a new federal commitment to our youngest learners.
Thanks for your help!
