I love wholemeal bread and olive oil. Depends which bread, but if it´s a good spelt one, I happen to eat at least half the loaf chunk after chunk until the housedoor. Don´t wanna imagine how I´d look if I didn´t drink enough apple cider vinegar (the cloudy one) with honey. Alongside green tea, dill and rosemarin at times, but that´s another subject...Go for apple cider vinegar. If you want to know more about apple cider vinegar and green tea, let me know. would be simple literature and not too long; you wouldn´t need to leaf through the books...
am happy am happy, fun the topic " apple cider vinegar " !
now let me complement...Lol I always need to complement kinda subsequently coz I just sit and start to type what comes to mind so that some detail sometimes slips the mind; wouldn´t be the case probably if I first prepared the post on a piece of paper and then typed it... Anyways...So, if you really care about Apple Cider Vinegar, buy a cloudy one, not a colourless one, light or dark brown because these are mild as they´re made from ripe apples, still better with a sediment. Sure you need to exercise hard -lol- shaking before using, but it´s worth it, a mild one...For an apple cider vinegar that´s not cloudy and that´s not made from ripe apples, is not mild and often tastes like denatured -or methylated- alcohol...Have fun !
Mongi, yep red vinegar is a good way to lower high blood pressure; I didn't know about lowering cholesterol but I'm glad I do now. There are so many uses for natural things to help us in our daily lives yet doctors insist we take medicine! No way! I will take only what is absolutely necessary...I am not going to make the medical profession rich nor over medicate myself.
Sixty Uses Of Baking Soda
Bicarbonate of soda or baking soda has many different uses in the household. Although much more expensive products have been developed over the years to do the same jobs, baking soda can work for you just as well, if not better. Use it in the following ways:
1. To make your own baking powder, stir and sift together 2 parts of Cream of Tartar to 1 part baking soda and 1 part cornstarch.
2. Be sure to keep an extra box of baking soda by your stove in case of grease or electrical fire. Scatter the powder by the handful to safely put it out.
3. Keep a container of baking soda in your garage as well as in your car to put out a fire. It won't damage anything it touches.
4. Baking soda will also put out fires in clothing, fuel, wood, upholstery and rugs.
5. Clean vegetables and fruit with baking soda. Sprinkle in water, soak and rise the produce.
6. Wash garbage cans with baking soda.
7. Soak and wash diapers with baking soda.
8. Oil and grease - stained clothing washes out better with soda added to the washing water.
9. Clean your fridge and freezer with dry soda sprinkled on a damp cloth. rinse with clear water.
10. Deodorize your fridge and freezer by putting in an open container of baking soda to absorb odors. Stir and turn over the soda from time to time. Replace every 2 months. (cont'd)....
sorry, musn´t be omitted: "in my post about ACV " of a while ago, right below...
80 % of the immune system, so: of the immune system, the 80 %, because I inadvertantly skipped " of the immune system "...
Hey Nancy, thanks for bringing in the topic...Carry on, Vicky, as far as commenting on topics, try to find the time. I for one though (that´s to say, if I hosted a group ), I wouldn´t necessarily respond to all topics, could become time consuming for all members and may not cause one to participate. I´d say, if you allow everybody, rather few but regularly...
Cat gets to the chorus and asks the title question, he's really asking us what price we're willing to pay for such convenience, not just in a interdependent "spaceship Earth" way, but in our very souls. Some might argue that children can play in asphalt-covered playgrounds, which were all the rage at the time, but what child wouldn't get something more out of, say, a forest?
apple vinegar, I love this topic, after all I´ve drunk apple cider vinegar for years...Read Dr. jarvis literature on apple cider vinegar, it´s worth it. To name only a couple of things:
fatigue: fatigue is one of the symptoms of anemia -yet not all fatigue is due to anemia. Still, it doesn´t matter what the reason is behind your fatigue-, the solution is apple cider vinegar: " vinegar-honey-and-water treatment " . Above all, make it a habit and don´t wait until you´ re weak and diseases befall you...
Cholesterol: apple-cider vinegar strengthens the heart and lowers bad cholesterol levels and blood pressure...kills infectious viruses, and contains chemicals that are valuable cancer fighters.
---Carotenoids--- that are contained in apple cider vinegar are converted by the liver into Vitamin A, another potent antioxidant. Lack of Vitamin A causes the body to be susceptible to all kinds of diseases...
Memory loss: memory loss, or dementia, is a common sign of aging and has a devastating impact on sufferers and their families alike. The three leading causes of memory loss are Alzheimer´s disease, strokes and alcohol abuse. Nutritionists are convinced that these conditions can be prevented -or even reversed- by taking apple cider vinegar daily...
I started to drink ACV long before I came across Dr. Jarvis literature on ACV, but unbelievable how interesting and above all how pleasant and easy to read; very encouraging to continue to drink ACV and make it a daily thing. The supermarkets have all these little books at the cashier´s desk...
Hot skin ? Apply ACV massaging, rubbing it into the skin...It kicks in immediately, your skin is cool as if you used an ice cube.
Last but not least, without enough liquid though , 3 litres at least, nothing happens, coz every thing goes out (i.e., diseases start there) from the stomach where 80 % (that´s eighty % ) lodge in the stomach, the stomach we´ve made a trash can of this century, so we need to flush and "clean" the walls of the stomach or else the stomach will not function properly...
Great thread, Nancy! I remember my mom and grandmother using vinegar to clean windows and I sometimes use it to this day. It does a wonderful job, too! Cutting down of forests also adds to the carbon in the atmosphere which in turn heats up the earth which in turn causes more tree destructive bugs and fires. One of the main causes of fires however are human beings deliberately setting them.

Going back to our Grandmother's Pantry, there was vinegar, baking soda and other household ingredients that were handy to clean our homes ...no chemicals.
