If it becomes law, a bill sponsored by Representative Lida E.
Harkins, titled "An Act Prohibiting Devocalization of Dogs and Cats,"
will make it illegal in the state of Massachusetts to perform debarking
procedures for reasons of convenience and ignorance. You can read the
proposed bill in its entirety here. As you may know, debarking, or
devocalization, is an invasive surgical procedure that involves
removing a large amount of laryngeal tissue to try to make dogs mute.
It involves a great deal of post-operative pain. Because this procedure
is inherently cruel and unnecessary, many veterinarians condemn it and
refuse to perform it.
Debarking robs dogs of one of their main
methods of communication. Dogs vocalize to communicate countless
feelingsfear, frustration, danger, pain, boredom, and even joy and
happiness. Dogs in severely crowded puppy mills and laboratories and
dogs who are neglected and left alone in backyards for hours on end are
the most common victims of debarking. Just as with any unwanted
behaviorcanine or otherwiseaddressing the reasons that cause barking
that is perceived to be excessive is the only humane and civilized way
of addressing the behavior.
Your Voice Is Needed! Please
politely urge your state representative to cosponsor "An Act
Prohibiting Devocalization of Dogs and Cats" to protect animals in
Massachusetts from this frivolous, cruel mutilation. You can find the
name and contact information of your representative here, and you can
contact all the representatives using the following information:
Massachusetts House of Representatives 24 Beacon St. #145 Boston, MA 02133 617-722-2000
Also,
please forward this message to others in the area who might be willing
to lend their support to this important issue. Massachusetts' dogs are
counting on you.
Thank you for your willingness to act and for your compassion for animals.
I am trying to complete a
petition that will ask the U.S. Senate to recognize animal testing as
cruelty to animals, a felony in most states. Please sign the petition
and pass it along to as many people as you can so we can try to outlaw
animal testing! Thank you.

Hey
I have a petition to sign to try to get my neighbor with the 4 hound
dogs to provide a more humane living area for his dogs. please sign and
forward it. It is important that he realizes it is not just taking the
dogs in at night this winter out of the extreme cold but that the
dogs need more humane living conditions period.
I just called the 2 state senators office in Georgia
imploring them to support and pass on March 12, the Georgia State..
Bill 606 Anti-Gas Chamber Bill which will end euthanizing innocent
animals by gassing them to death.. They told they they've received only
about 20-30 phone calls so far. Considering how important this bill
is for the animals I don't think that number is going to be of any
influence in the rigid minds of gov't representatives in supporting and
passing this anti-gassing bill.
I live in NY state and I'm forwarding this to peoplein
all states. I hope all of you will also crosspost the desperate need
for everyone to take literally one minute of their time and call these
2 rep's in the Georgia state listed below. Those 2 simple phone
calls may just make the difference for millions of animals suffocating
to death in these barbaric gassing facilities.
No euthanization
method is humane....I PRAY ONE DAY our innocent animals will finally be
granted the same rights to their lives as we humans are.
PLEASE PLEASE CALL AND CROSS POST!
Georgia house bill 606 Anti-Gas Chamber bill Grace's Law, named after a dog that survived the gas chamber

minutes to make those calls to help stop the gas chambers. Thank you!
