I will quit smoking. And will get out daily for a long walk, fresh air and sunshine. I will eat out once a week and treat myself to a good meal.

Last week I worked to clear an email account. This week I am going to continue to research a subject that has caught my interest. Get out doors as much as possible. Smile at other people and for pure self indulgence ~ see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

Last weeks accomplishment was completed! The short story turned out to be over 5000 words, so this week I have to find a contest to submit it to.
I'm going to get to bed by 11:30pm. No more staying up till 3am for anyone or anything. Get out side early morning and evening for my 2hr jog. Spend at least 4 hours on manuscript. Work on new poem I promised to do....at least 1 hour. Now I got it covered. Got to dance more...frees the soul... Now I have it covered! This is my usual routine,I let life get me way off tract.
Well I've been in bed by 12:30 so far,and made a dent on my last 4 chapters, bringing it down to 3 more to go....woooohoooo! Been out for my run early, and my 1/2 hour on the swings at the playground......things are snapping back !! My new poem is coming along, today I will rough draft it,as well as work on a chapter of my book. I think I'm getting things back where I need them.
I wish that I could say that my accomplishment was completed, however it is much harder to find somewhere to submit a story to than you'd think. There are alot of contest "scams" out there and I'm having difficulty differentiating between the good and the bad contests. If anyone has any suggestions, please contact me.

I'm new here and not sure what you write, but have you checked Writer's Digest (I hope that's the right magazine). This month, they have lots of links to supposedly reputable sites for writers. Maybe you'd find good contests there.
Old commitment accomplished! Feels so good! Back to waking up rested, alert, and ready to go.
New commitment is to clean out my computer of things I don't need or really need to backup. This I am working on and should have accomplished by Saturday. I hope! Can't believe I have so much I should have backed up, that if lost,It would really screw me up. Feel much more in touch with my world, and myself now. It's a good thing..
Last week I surpassed my expectations by starting a project from one of my studies. My next few weeks are going to be tied up with out of town relatives and family weddings. I will attempt to not slid far behind, but it is quite possible that I will not be taking on a new challenge for the next three weeks ( the family began arriving yesterday).
Thank you so much! I checked them out a couple of weeks ago. I can submit my poetry there, but my book is too long (about 6000 words) to submit there. I will, however, look at there site again to see if they've added more links.
I commit myself to taking in a friend who is down on his luck and needs a place to stay. I commit myself to returning my neice, Marissa, to her home in NC tomorrow in one piece *grins* I commit myself to call Frances back about the evening teaching job she talked to me about. I commit myself not to let a certain someone suck me into the vortex of his repeated cycle of lies. I commit myself to eat reasonably. I commit myself to at least two or three nights of self tanning lotion because it makes me feel sexy These are my personal/professional commitments for one week.

I have had a fairly productive past week even with out of state family being here. First, I managed to fire my endocrinologist who was doing me more harm than good. I am now with a new one one that has me on tract. 2nd I have made a good start on my first website (the project I spoke of last week) Hate In the USA It is a work in progress, just like me, I have much to add to it. This is the big week for our family. The Oldest Grandchild (my husbands niece) is getting married. I am committed to family gatherings and happiness this week, but I will be around Care2 as well.

We all live day to day, some of us just haven't realized it yet. Tomorrow is still the unknown. In my eyes you are doing a remarkable job.

You're still doing a remarkable job. You've worked on it and you are honest. That rates very high in my book.
As for me, I spent yesterday with my family (many from out of state) and today has gone very good, though I did nothing spectacular. Thanks for asking!
It is Sunday so I will set the goal for next week- Get more organized, spend more time with family and finish the article I am writing! Have a great week all and the best of luch at achieving those goals!!!!!!

Soul,
Do not get discouraged and remember to set realistic goals. If you set unrealistic ones, you won't accomplish them and will get frustrated.
Jennifer,
Great goal....good luck and let us know how it works out.
As a side note...I submitted my short story & hope to hear from them by the end of October. I decluttered my "space" yesterday, as I went through groups that I was rarely or never participating in here and unjoined. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and unproductive. Using process of elimination, I went from around 70 groups to 30 and feel that this is much more managable.
I'm writing 2-3 articles every 2 days and this is a big improvement for me. My next step will me to write at least one a day, and increase from there.
Hope you all have a good week! Don't forget to check out the question of the week thread!
Seems like I avoid this thread August 21, 2006 8:06 AM
However my goal this week is to complete a series of lessons on human rights issues. Last week I helped to author the the Constitution and By-Laws for our group Human Rights Advocates. I am committing myself to drop groups that I do not have the time to contribute to, and to drop those that do not contribute to my personal growth at this time. It's not easy to do, I have friends in these groups, but I do not have the time they deserve to devote to them. They deserve an active member.

I'm also dropping groups slowly. At fisrt care2 is very exciting with all the groups and all the friends, but in time, they can't ALL be important to us.
This week I have 3 projects I am working on, so just getting those done WHILE keeping up my daily exercise is my goal.
The best thing that I could have done was drop some of the groups. And yes, Cathe, you are right...it was difficult since I have many friends in the groups, but they all were very understanding. I did keep all the groups that I'm a cohost of and I emailed everyone to tell them that I was about to drop groups (I felt this was only fair to them) & I got many letters of support. The process I did was to look at how much and what I contributed in the last week.....with that guideline I was able to quickly get rid of some groups. Then for those that were left, I looked at if they were beneficial to my well being and such.
I am going to commit myself to bikeriding at least two (2) times per week with my dog in tow (there is a special attachment for dogs that goes on the bike frame!). This will be good exercise for both of us!!!
