Last week I worked to clear an email account.  This week I am going to continue to research a subject that has caught my interest. Get out doors as much as possible. Smile at other people and for pure self indulgence ~ see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.  [ send green star]

anonymous  July 05, 2006 6:04 AM

Last weeks accomplishment was completed!  The short story turned out to be over 5000 words, so this week I have to find a contest to submit it to.

anonymous  July 11, 2006 6:03 AM

I wish that I could say that my accomplishment was completed, however it is much harder to find somewhere to submit a story to than you'd think.  There are alot of contest "scams" out there and I'm having difficulty differentiating between the good and the bad contests.  If anyone has any suggestions, please contact me.  [report anonymous abuse]

For Renda July 14, 2006 12:52 AM

Hi Renda,

I'm new here and not sure what you write, but have you checked Writer's Digest (I hope that's the right magazine).  This month, they have lots of links to supposedly reputable sites for writers.  Maybe you'd find good contests there.

So glad to find this group by the way.

Susie

new commeitment July 14, 2006 7:20 AM

Old commitment accomplished! Feels so good! Back to waking up
rested,alert,and ready to go.

New commitment is to clean out my computer of things I don't
need or really need to backup.
This I am working on and should have accomplished by Saturday.
I hope! Can't believe I have so much I should have backed up,
that if lost,It would really screw me up. Feel much more in touch
with my world, and myself now. It's a good thing..

Last week I surpassed my expectations by starting a project from one of my studies. My next few weeks are going to be tied up with out of town relatives and family weddings. I will attempt to not slid far behind, but it is quite possible that I will not be taking on a new challenge for the next three weeks ( the family began arriving yesterday).

Soul,

Thank you so much!  I checked them out a couple of weeks ago.  I can submit my poetry there, but my book is too long (about 6000 words) to submit there.  I will, however, look at there site again to see if they've added more links.

 July 23, 2006 11:37 AM

I have had a fairly productive past week even with out of state family being here. First, I managed to fire my endocrinologist who was doing me more harm than good. I am now with a new one one that has me on tract. 2nd I have made a good start on my first website (the project I spoke of last week) Hate In the USA It is a work in progress, just like me, I have much to add to it. This is the big week for our family. The Oldest Grandchild (my husbands niece) is getting married. I am committed to family gatherings and happiness this week, but I will be around Care2 as well.  [ send green star]

Hi Soul July 24, 2006 5:17 PM

We all live day to day, some of us just haven't realized it yet. Tomorrow is still the unknown. In my eyes you are doing a remarkable job.  [ send green star]

Ugh Cathe July 24, 2006 11:11 PM

But thank you so much for your encouragment.  I still haven't applied, but I have worked on it.  For me, sitting down to work is a big step.

How are things going for you this week?

And thanks again!

 [ send green star]

 July 24, 2006 11:47 PM

You're still doing a remarkable job. You've worked on it and you are honest. That rates very high in my book.

As for me, I spent yesterday with my family (many from out of state) and today has gone very good, though I did nothing spectacular. Thanks for asking!

My health has not been well this week, so I have been slow, so I must continue over my commitments from last week

1. Complete the organization of my home office

2. Quit Smoking

3. Setup a Schedule

I have cut down smoking quite a bit since I'm not feeling well, so, I think I'm about done with that nasty habit

---to set a few daily goals each morning and stick to them.  [ send green star]

anonymous Goal This Week August 06, 2006 7:52 AM

Write at least an article every 2 days on the writing site that I belong to.  [report anonymous abuse]

This is pathetic August 09, 2006 9:54 AM

but now I am down to making hourly goals.

For the next 3.5 hours, I will focus on a project for work.  Nothing else.  (yes, I have ADD).

Goal this week August 20, 2006 12:45 AM

It is Sunday so I will set the goal for next week- Get more organized, spend more time with family and finish the article I am writing! Have a great week all and the best of luch at achieving those goals!!!!!!      [ send green star]

anonymous Soul & Jennifer August 21, 2006 6:37 AM

Soul,

Do not get discouraged and remember to set realistic goals.  If you set unrealistic ones, you won't accomplish them and will get frustrated.

Jennifer,

Great goal....good luck and let us know how it works out.

As a side note...I submitted my short story & hope to hear from them by the end of October.  I decluttered my "space" yesterday, as I went through groups that I was rarely or never participating in here and unjoined.  I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and unproductive.  Using process of elimination, I went from around 70 groups to 30 and feel that this is much more managable.

I'm writing 2-3 articles every 2 days and this is a big improvement for me.  My next step will me to write at least one a day, and increase from there.

Hope you all have a good week!  Don't forget to check out the question of the week thread!

Seems like I avoid this thread August 21, 2006 8:06 AM

However my goal this week is to complete a series of lessons on human rights issues. Last week I helped to author the the Constitution and By-Laws for our group Human Rights Advocates. I am committing myself to drop groups that I do not have the time to contribute to, and to drop those that do not contribute to my personal growth at this time. It's not easy to do, I have friends in these groups, but I do not have the time they deserve to devote to them. They deserve an active member.  [ send green star]

This week August 22, 2006 7:04 AM

Renda and Cathe,

I'm also dropping groups slowly.  At fisrt care2 is very exciting with all the groups and all the friends, but in time, they can't ALL be important to us.

This week I have 3 projects I am working on, so just getting those done WHILE keeping up my daily exercise is my goal.

Good news about the writing Renda.

anonymous  August 22, 2006 7:19 AM

Soul & Cathe,

The best thing that I could have done was drop some of the groups.  And yes, Cathe, you are right...it was difficult since I have many friends in the groups, but they all were very understanding.  I did keep all the groups that I'm a cohost of and I emailed everyone to tell them that I was about to drop groups (I felt this was only fair to them) & I got many letters of support.  The process I did was to look at how much and what I contributed in the last week.....with that guideline I was able to quickly get rid of some groups.  Then for those that were left, I looked at if they were beneficial to my well being and such.

Good luck with all of your goals this week!!
