Welcome Tami and Lory!!
If only everyone could realize how animal help us in such a diversity of ways, everything from saving our lives if our homes catch fire, to just simply being there with that unconditional love in their eyes, and lending us their shoulders to cry on, there's no question in my mind that animals would be treated much better than they are.
For those who have seen Peaceable Kingdom (http://www.tribeofheart.org/pk.htm), remember the African American woman who stated she always felt a closeness to animals because she could relate to how they were treated, just as she had been ill-treated in her life. She said through these hardships, she has felt a kinship with the animals. She recognizes what animals are truly worth.
They are indeed special beings who should be treated with at least equal respect with humans, if not MORE respect. (and I know some humans that don't deserve any respect at all!!)
Thanks for being part of the solution
I was touched by what I have read here and thank you so much for introducing yourselves. This is a very good thread and I think it would be great to keep it going, for everyone. This is a big group, so it is nice to hear a little bit about each member. Your open hearts are appreciated by ME!
Thanks, Billye, for giving such a warm . YOU are terrific!!!
And finally...that cartoon... ha ha ha h aha haha ha ha haa....
to you all...for the animals.... Gretchen

i have to say today i checked my e mail and cryed in anger over what i read in this article
it is just plain wrong
i need some help helping there coyotes
they need your help and mine tooo
i need help with a petition of our own just for these poor animals they are getting murdered and it is a contest to see who is the best at this with a huge cash prize.
this is so gross
Top News- Coyote Killing Contest Prompts Howls - AOL News
I voted against the killing contest.
51% against them
49% for them.
Its a sad world we live in when they are having contest to see how many they can kill.
that is the worst thing i have read in a long long time
and there are no laws as of yet to stop them at all
you dont have to have a licence to go and hunt these animals at all
nothing at all to protect them
that is why i need help with a petition
i have huntingtons disease and having a horrible time trying to figure it all out
maybe someone could do it for me
love hugs and prayers to you and yours

Hi, i'm sorry that it took a while for my introduction. I'm owned by 6 cats, Pazuzu : a black "fixed" male who i found one day in the street where i live, he was so skinny he could barely walk. It took me about a week before he started to trust me, everyday i left food behind so he could eat. I think he was hit by a car, left side of his jaw was damaged and most of his teeth were broken. After two years he's doing fine, big (too big) and beautifull. He's still very jumpy , i don't think that's gonna change. Missy, black and white female, her owners moved away and left her behind so i took her in, she's with me for about 7 years. Poppy, a tiger female, was left behind in a box with her mother and sisters and brothers, they were about 4 weeks old. She's now 10 years. Dimmy, a tiger "fixed" male, 12 yo, Aputi,a tiger female,16 yo and Tinkerbell, a red and white "fixed" male, 8 yo. My cats are my babies and they know how to manipulate me but that's allright, that's why i love them so much, love their excentric characters. Nature, wildlife and pets are allways been very close to my heart. It hurts so much when you see how people destroy our wildlife and have no respect for the beauty of it.

I'm Joyce and i just joined this group. I've been on Care2 for a while now, signing petitions and the click to donate section, and recently starting 'exploring'.
We (i'm still living with my parents ) have a dog, a little white very stubborn maltese (called Bonnie) i really love She always listens, and is always there for me and sometimes it even looks like she understands what i'm saying...we had a black bouvier too, Reno. Unfortunately he died because of cancer
I've signed the coyote petition too (as number 1,167 )...everytime i see an animal suffering, no matter whether it's a wild animal or a domesticated animal, i always get a knot in my stomach...they deserve to have a good life, and to be protected...
Hi Joyce welcome to the group!
I cannot recall exactly when I joined, but I have been signing all the petitions and forwarding them on. I get so tired of people making comments to me or about me regarding my passion for animals and the plight of abused, abandoned and neglected animals. And most especially, I despise the comment, “It’s just an animal.” That one is enough to make me growl! But instead of getting irritated with the person making the comment I do my best to give them food for thought in order to hopefully open their eyes and see animals in a new light. I do what I can to help animals in need and I usually get calls or emails from other people asking me if I can help with an animal in need or asking if know someone who can help. The things I have done to help animals in need… I have four wonderful cats who were all rescues and I also foster animals for a few rescue organizations. My last group of fosters were two litters of puppies that had been abandoned at 7 weeks old and I am very happy to say that they have all been adopted into wonderful loving homes! I also try to care for the stray cats that end up in my neighborhood. I have successfully rehabilitated some of them and they have since been adopted. It seems no sooner do I get one batch of strays taken care of that there is a whole new set… It is so sad.
It is so nice to be part of a group of people who feel the same way I do about animals!
A BIG welcome to all new Peta-group-members!!!

I'm fairly new to Care2 and still finding my way around.
My name is Katie, or KT, and I'm 24. I'm an active member of the Peta2 Street Team and I'm vegetarian, trying to slowly go vegan.
I'm a primary teacher and I live with my long-term partner James, our two giant African land snails (Bob and boB), sea monkeys, ants and lots of soft toys!
If anyone has any tips for Care2 then I'd appreciate them, thanks!
Love, peace & friendship,
Welcome Katie and all others to care 2.. and PETA

May you find this message meeting you with abundance and peace in your lives...after reading all the lovely introductions, it honours the very core of my being to be a part of such a wonderful family of benenvolent beings, you all sound fantastic!
The world truly would be a saddend place without our animal family friends, who shower us with the unyeilding love and grace we as humans sometimes forget. I have always had a deep connection to the animal kingdom where ever I go, there is no lack among them,
I presently enjoy my happy family consisting of my two girls 14 and 16, myself and my 3 cats, Tiger-Lily born January 1 2000, she is a "ginger manx", one of the most loving and kind hearted cats you could ever meet, (I think she is more human in many ways you know she actually scratch-knocks at the door to come in...and can say a few words like yes and please when she wants...lol) An Angels Gift! And then there are the twins, Oasis and Tequilla, born October 2006, they are a mix of "Burman and Angora" grey with white highlights on Tequilla...The dream team lol... May your days be filled with peace and joy... Kim...
Hi Kim nice to meet you
I suppose I have never introduced myself. I am a high school language arts teacher in Aberdeen, SD. There is no animal rights group here, and it is my dream to start one in the area.
I am primarily vegan, but I do eat a few eggs now and then; my father has about 30 chickens who roam free all day on 20 acres of land, many of which have lived for over 10 years, roosters and hens alike. The only perils these chickens face are old age and, from time to time, a fox.
South Dakota is a state primarily populated by under-educated pro-hunting, beef-eating, cow-milking, fur-trapping conservatives; in short, everything I am not. I try to encourage those with pro-animal beliefs to let their voices be heard in South Dakota. Even though I would enjoy myself more if I moved, I refuse to move from here because the animals here deserve a voice as well.
I strongly support PETA and the HSUS. I support those who take direct action as long as it is non-violent. I am a Christian, but I am trying to learn more about the other religions to find which one holds the truth. I believe in a god of compassion for all living things, and I try to live my life today so that tomorrow will be a better day.
Afternoon Blessings Everyone..
I recenlty became a member of PETA through their website and then discovered this group, so I figured that I would join you all!
I see a few familiar faces, and hope to make many more acquaintances along the way...
Peace Love and Light to the Voiceless among us.
Hi! Everyone: I have a great love & respect for all animals & have since I was young. I sign as many petitions on animal abuse that I can find. I just signed the one for the coyotes. Love & peace to All people & animals on this earth.
Hello! I'm new to Care2 and the group so I will introduce my self. My name is Daniela, I'm 36 yrs old and I'm from Holland. I have 7 cats, all of them have a "story" and I have 2 (stray-) guinnea pigs. The love for animals comes from my grandmother and mother. My sister and I grew up surrounded by all kinds of animals. Twice a year I go to Marmaris in Turkey and work in the shelter up in the mountains. The shelter is run by Jeannie Thirkill. She single handed put animal welfare on the agenda in Marmaris. In the shelter are appr. 300 cats, 2 dogs and a donkey. Jeannie also undertakes action to get the street cats neutered and spayed. During the winter she feeds the street cats of Marmaris. It is great to work in the shelter. I just love animals and to be surrounded by 300 cats is heaven for me. For some cats we find new homes in the UK, Holland, Germany, Belgium and Finland. This year I will be a foster mum for the cats who will go the UK. This is because of the quarantaine rules of the UK. I hope that we can make a positive change for all those animals in need!
Hi Star! Welcome to the group!!
I joined PETA last year. I have been a vegan since 1994. I have been in favor of prohibition of fishing, gaming, and production, sale and consumption of meat and dairy for a number of years, expressing my thoughts to my elected representatives. If everyone is vegan and in favor of criminalizing carnivorous behavior, it'll be accomplished.

PETA risque ads are offensive to me and to almost everyone, over 99% of people. It doesn't advance the vegan cause to be offensive, is civil deviance. Better to hand out leaflets in colleges like Vegan Outreach, or pass out flyers door to door.
I`ve never seen an offensive Peta ad but there you are,you can never please everyone...BTW ,my name is Elizabeth and I love animals.
Hi, I'm Lisa, and pray & live for the day when animals will be treated with respect and equality.
