My computer has decided my life has not been busy or frustrating or exciting (depending on point of view) enough, so it quit working.

Right now, I am using hubby's computer, but I am not as comfortable on it as I am on my own.

I will try to fix my computer this wknd, and most likely have to do a complete system restore (oh goody!)

I will try to do more updates in the next day or two.

One important one I have been hearing that autism is now 1:100 children. I googled this figure and I want to do more research before I make any more posts about that.

I am also going through the latest issue of 'Autism File USA' (a magazine that seems to be very UK based, but released here, addressing many of the issues of autism in a very clear, honest, and understandable way).

On the 9th of October, my familiy and I will be travelling to Charlotte, NC to participate in the Autism Speaks walk at Lowes Motor Speedway. (the actual walk is Saturday the tenth, but I do not want to put my kids through the stress of getting up very early just to drive for hours on end, then get out and be at the race track for a few hours, just to get back in a car to drive home. So, we are gonig to split it up over two days.

I will absolutely let you all know how it goes. I will take pictures. I have yet to figure out how to post them at Care2, though.

Please keep posting here. Tell me if there are (or have been) any walks in your area, and did you participate, either online or in person.

I will try to get my computer's (many) issues fixed asap.

I took my computer to Best Buy (where I had purchased it from). Fortunately, I had the foresight or the bad luck (again, depending on point of view) to purchase a 3 yr warranty. The motherboard and hard drive are fried. I have no idea what that means except that my computer will be 'in the shop' until practially the end of October. Ugh.

I will do my best to stay on top of things on my hubby's computer.

I took it to geek squad at Best Buy and they said it'd be the 20th (of Oct) before I'd get it back, so I was thrilled when I got a phone call on Tuesday afternoon to bring my recovery disk and I can pick up my computer. Little did I know. We drive almost 40 miles to the store, bringing the kids, disk and a tired husband.

GS tells me that I can now drop off the disk and leave, and come back tomorrow. I was NOT happy. I was not told that when they called earlier. They said that all I had to do was re-install my rescue disk, which has Windows Vista (NOT a fan of Vista). It took all night to re-install the disk,then it (the computer) STILL is not running right. So I call the 800 gs number and got into an argument and debate with the tech there. I wound up hanging up on him. I call the local geek squad, and the guy there was very nice, and said yes, I do need to bring it back, that no, they should not have allowed it to be brought home after having such major work done without gs giving it a full diagnostics and clean bill.

SOOOOOOOO.....I am still using hubby's puter, and I will be bringing back the puter to best buy sometime this weekend. Hubby works tomorrow, so at earliest, it'll be Sat afternoon. ugh. I want my computer back, and I want it to work,darn it.

However, that guy at the geek squad was very nice, and he said he'd give us a reimbursement card for our trouble and travel.

Well, I got my computer back night before last, but while it is up and running, I for some reason cannot put my modem back on my computer to get internet from MY computer! aarrgggghhhhh!

So......

I will call my cable provider (who also provides my internet) either tomorrow (Saturday) or Monday if I cannot get them on the phone over the weekend

My kids participated in a Special Olympics event on Wednesday, and although my son did not enjoy himself, as the music was too loud and there were too many people, my youngest daughter had a blast.

They both had gone to a Natural Sciences museum on Tuesday, so they have had a fun filled and educational week outside of school, but with their school mates.

I will try to post more tomorrow. I do apologise for not posting for the past week. I hope that all this computer trouble will be fixed by the end of the week.

After much dilema, drama and headaches, my computer is FIXED!!! I will start to upkeep this site at least once weekly, although my goal will be twice.

I hope that I hear from this wonderful group soon. I often feel as if I am not reaching anyone.

I know what it is to have a very busy schedule, and understand you have lives outside of care2 and the Internet, so if you can just chime in and let me know how you are, I will be very glad to know that you and your angels are just fine.
