Haven't been around for a while, too busy to post much as I nave ben fighting my own case. 2 days with 3 inquisitors, unbale to think coherently. But being the UK, murderers and child molesters have better legal rights than the sick. My crime, refusing to bed a man who cared for mr for a week end when my 'husband 'was' off climbing with friends for a week end. I don't stand a chance in hell and have another tribunal coming up any time after a fortnight. All terribly sordid and I can't face a 3 tribunal trying to defend myself. With a £1000 fine and no disability beneftits I will loose my home my dogs ( my father was a nuclear test verteeran so I have dogs istead of risking having a child with as many illnesses as me. No justice i this country
that I haven't been around for awhile... now I'll try to make up for that and be more available again... Life has been pretty tough for me & my fam lately, plus some good news my youngest turned 18 & has left to continue his schooling as well. I have my mother staying with me, caring for her after her near death experience in May. My oldest son is also here, he is not healthy either, mentally or physically, so as you can see... My life as a single-mom is pretty much at an end, so at this point I'm stuck wondering what I am now? Just doesn't seem to be the way I thought or planned it would be when my baby left home but in life, when is it as we plan? (in my life anywayz). Today in fact, is the 1st day in months that my heart hasn't felt so heavy, my life so gloomy, etc. it was hard for me to think straight regarding life here at home, didn't feel I could be there for my dear friends from Care2 100%, depression and uncertainty can mess with one's head and so...
Mary sorry it took me awhile to post my Foster mom passed away and I have been gone. I Am so sorry to hear about your brother, its so sad what happens to our love ones in jail and prisons today. If we can help in any way please let us know, stop in and talk any time,God bless Jo Ann..

Hello Fellow Justice Seekers! April 29, 2008 1:30 PM
Thank all of you for being here to work toward justice. Thank you, Kristi, for inviting me.
Since the secret incarceration and likely euthanasia of my mentally ill brother in jail, I advocate for the incarcerated mentally ill. See http://wrongfuldeathoflarryneal.com
America has 1.25 million mentally ill prisoners, many of whom never understood their Miranda rights or the charges against them. Many suffer abuse and die in jail. Not long ago, most of these diffabled prisoners would have been in-patients in mental hospitals or receiving out-patient psychiatric care in their communities, depending on the seriousness of their illness and their criminal charges. My brother, who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and hallucinations, was in a mental institution for the better part of 20 years, from the age of 9, until his hospital was partially closed. Subsequent to his release, Larry was arrested for such things as vagrancy, disturbing the peace, panhandling, etc. repeatedly for more than 20 years! This is a cycle many acute mental patients suffer. Police evidently became weary with their enforced roles as caretaker to this 54-year-old mentally ill heart patient.Police arrested Larry and repeatedly and falsely denied having him incarcerated for 18 days.Deprived of his vital prescription meds, Larry died of a heart attack. While Larry was dying in jail, his family and social worker were searching for him everywhere. Now we understand why the police did not assist our search for this disabled man!
Thanks again for this group membership. I am new to Care2 and to advocacy, and I am very grateful for any advice. I look forward to working with you on justice issues! Please see more about my advocacy at my Care2 home page and at this link:
New members, it's always a pleasure to see new people join, although unfortunate under the circumstances of such serious causes.. Just to know you're not alone makes a tremendous difference, but when you can be a part of change, part of hope & healing, that is when the value of membership/friendship comes shining through...
None of us may have the answers all the time, however we sure will help to find them.. We need to stick together, stand strong & fight against the wrongs of society, our nation desperately needs change.. We are the people, We can make the changes...
Many thanks to all who are here, all who have joined and thank you to Joann for the strength, courage & wisdom she so willingly shares..

I'm not sure how I stumbled into this group but I'm glad I did. I do not have any relatives or friends who have gone through prison but I have worked in a non-government organization for 5 years and know what it's like for ordinary citizens to be deprived of justice and due process.
Right now, I am working as a full-time marketing writer and am in transition to an editor's job at a trade publication.
welcome Mandy glad you posted to group,it seams like today everyone knows someone in prison, happy to hear your moms friend is out and working on ways to live free, feel free to post with us on any topic or just talk with us,glad you are here joann.

[send green star]
I would like to thank Joann for inviting me to this group. I have read some of the posts and it saddens me to think that justice didn't prevail at the cost of an innocent persons freedom.
[send green star]
to our latest members, it's always nice to see that people are aware of the "LACK" of justice in our great nation! as pathetic as it is that we must fight FOR JUSTICE in a so-called "free" country...
We need to educate ourselves 1st, then bring awareness to others.. that is the key... more people, more voices that become one loud reckoning

Joann is 110% right and so are you, the U.S. has more prisons than any other country, AND building more.. yet we are suppose to think this is the land of the free?
There is no question that our country has already begun "Martial Law" or "State Police" which alone disturbs me a great deal, but then the corruption within our judicial system has been increasing greatly over the past years as well..
We are here to unite and try to understand, educate our selves & each other and try to fight the system.. there are ways... most importantly I would recommend carrying camera's, digital cam corders, whatever you can, just to always be prepared to document & photograph/film what you may see?? We need proof, we need documentation, we need people to wake up, stop be so scared & intimidated by our "Public Servants" and so on... so we can bring JUSTICE back and rid our great nation of corruption, dictatorship etc.
Danielle so glad to have you here with us,what you are saying is so right, our prison are filling up more each day,my son Donald was given life for a crime he did not do and have been fighting for 7 years to get him home and in that time I have seen so much that is going on in our prison it makes me sick. Its getting harder to find justice everday, and people need to wake up it could happen to any one of us. Glad you are here make your self at home here with us,start a new topic if you like and glad we have a chance to get to know each other JoAnn...
[send green star]
My name is Danielle and I am here because I care about all people rights and I am very outraged at the growing number of inmates we have in the US...I recently posted an article at C2NN that said one in 93 people in the US in now in prison!
I do believe that many inmates are not guilty or serving longer sentences than needed, I also, believe those that are guilty are not receiving any form of rehab so that they do not become repeat offenders. Also this "war on drugs" is a joke and people are being treated as criminals when they should be being sent to rehab centers or for counseling.
Okay I wont rant anymore but you get some of an idea why I am here...I want to give a voice to those who have been rob of theirs.
btw, love the hello graphic of Elvis too, I've saved it to my computer in case you're wondering can't get too many pics of that hunka hunka man!!! Gotta love him!
Florika found me here at care2, introduced herself and we have become friends, we have more in common besides "The King" however, but that is the main thing that brought her to me.... and I am liking that so much, I even feel proud & honored she chose me and like us, she has a big heart!
Take care everyone & always "pay it forward" as they say "one good deed, deserves another" (too bad our govt. don't live by those certain rules of life huh? assholes!
A big hello and welcome to Florika, we've recently met and not only is she a sweet, caring person ... she also loves Elvis, and now we all know that anyone who loves Elvis, can't be all bad I'm glad to see you here Florika, it's an important group, with very critical issue's that are being addressed. Joann is a super lady, you will adore her just like we all do... and Linda is one of the total best, they have hearts of gold and would give a stranger their last food if need be. This group is like family and you are now part of it! I couldn't be happier. Welcome and as one fan to another ~Elvis Hugs~
Welcome Florika so glad to meet you,yes justice is a real hard thing to come by today in the USA.Please sign my son Donalds petition,if you have any ?? please ask us.Glad to have you here with us please roam around and post any where you like, hugs JoAnn.

Welcome to people. We need all who have been slighted by some very wrong & illegal acts for all inmates, especially those who get little or no mail at all.
Hi my name is Leanne, thanks Joann for the warm welcome. I have been writing to quite a few inmates for just over 3 years now, at times getting to know their family and support network. I came across this site just a few days ago, it seems my bf's name and address is posted in here.

I am new here and while I have no sad story to report I am aware of the unfairness in our justice system from the conduct of some of the officers on the street to attorneys to the judges who hear the cases. It is a shame that these injustices occur not only does it harm and abuse those ocnvicted that are innocent it also burshes those who are honest in the system with the tinge of dishonesty. Thus resentment and distrust are also visited upon the good, valant and honest members of the system which is also a sad commement on out societial values.
I will be interested to read the posts and to sign any petitions I feel I can. If I do post I will sign as Linda B (RI) as on of the hosts has the same initials. . . . . .we don't look alike but don't want people confused if they happen to read a post from me quickly!!!
God Bless all of you who are suffering due to the wrong imprisonment of loved ones and all of you who are willing to work for a better system.
Welcome Jennifer so glad you are here with us,I was down seeing my son at Pleasent valley state prison this week end so just getting to your post,Thank you for comming over here to be with us.Thank you for sharing your story with us and no you are loved here, all of us have a past, but what matters is what we do today. My heart and prayers are with you sister,Joann...
[send green star]
Thanks Linda! I guess i felt like i already knew you and Joann as i am a member of another group that u both belong to (Friends of Timmy Joe Souders). I appreciate the warm welcome and i look forward to helping make a change! Jennifer K.
To all our curious and courageous new member and existing members too... you are already special JUST for your interest and desire to be in a group which has such strong passion to recognize & try to understand the troubling issues of today, BUT also for all your genuine compassion to go through some of the tough times with others...
Thank you for joining us & even more for sharing so much of yourself before you really know us. That, I consider, a great compliment!
Please, make yourself at home, feel free to offer facts/your feelings about any of the topics here. We are here for you also. If you ever have the need, we hope you will feel free enough to talk to us. If you have any questions, we will get the answers for you as quickly as possible.
I apologize for taking so long to introduce myself.. I am a single mother of 4 and at this time, we are ALL sick with a nasty winter cold. Needless to say, i've been extremely overwhelmed!
I am 40 years old and have plenty of experience with our so called "justice system" (from BOTH sides of the bars). I am a recovering addict (almost 10 years CLEAN). Because of my addiction history, i have had quite a few "run ins" with the "system". I have been both the INMATE and the concerned friend from the "outside". Not only am i a recovering addict & ex-con, I also suffer from Mental illness. All of these factors have given me some interesting and sometimes horrible experiences with our "justice" system.. I was NEVER a violent offender! The worst of my "crimes" was using a doctors DEA # to phone in narcotic Rx's for MYSELF.. The longest sentence that i had to serve was 6 months. Once i was behind bars, i was no longer an individual! I was treated like a murdering rapist. NO ONE is treated as an individual in jail/prison. We were ALL treated like we didn't matter any longer. It's a horrible feeling for anyone!
I have a few "friends" who should NEVER have been sent to prison, but were. One of those friends chose to commit suicide rather then endure the abuse.
There are sooooo many changes needed in our justice system and WE are the people who can make that happen!
I am very happy to be a member of your group and i look forward to meeting/chatting with everyone! Most importantly, i want to be a part of making changes in our so called Justice system. Thank you for caring!
Jennifer K.
