Goal Diggers

Tears for years

And fears for leers

Bring us all together

Some want to save

Some to play

And all remain to themselves

We trust the person

Who does serve us

                  Like fishermen

With sure catches

Rolling up the sleeves

Knowing we will eat

Our dinner

In tall glasses

As we see

The young attribute the old

And the old attribute the young

And everyone there

Knows just what song they have sung

Like medicine to the sick

Or gold to the digger

It makes happy

All eyes blinking in time

And in all due respect

they ignore what they find

Everyones prettier

Standing in line

Waiting to feel

The pain left behind

And blindly be free

To unwind

Then when last call

Has sounded

They rush for one last drink

Trying to recap the night

Knowing now that its over

Not a memory they’ll find

Just glimpses of faces

That live to remind

All who are willing

Come back next time
