This is just so wrong. A beautiful, exceptionally loving senior dog huddled up despondent and scared with absolutely no hope. Maggie arrived as a stray on July 8. It is almost a month later so I guess nobody is looking for her. Maybe her own people turned her in and were to cheap to pay the $5 owner turn in charge. When I saw her on the 13th, she was huddled in a ball. While the other younger dogs rushed the front of the cage to visit, she just stared at me with the look of a dog who has given up. In her five days at the shelter, Maggie quickly learned that nobody wants an old dog. I called to her and she did not respond. I called to her again and, I swear, she started looking around wondering who I was calling to. When she figured out that I was calling to her, she leapt to her feet and immediately pressed her face against the front of the cage. She was so relieved and happy to feel a kind touch and hear soothing words. The more I talked to her, the more she tried to come through the wire cage. Seriously, the dog kept lifting her paw and trying to move the cage aside. She wanted out and she wanted to be with somebody who was kind to her. This is a very gentle, door, loyal, GOOD old gal who deserves so much better. I have not seen her in such a long time. I feel guilty that I left her there for so long. She is probably having a very hard time of it. I hope she has not gotten sick. She is probably curled up in a ball again, feeling so scared and alone. She is good with her kennel mates. She weighs approx. 50 pounds. Please don't let Maggie die a shelter death, with no one to even remember her or cry that she is gone.
