Your charge is serious, however, Sen. Graham is innocent until proven guilty. However, there does need to be an inquiry and possibly even an investigation. Until this occurs and he is charged with a violation we owen him the deference of being completely inncoent. All this may be is the appearance of impropriety and that would only warrant a warning.
As to your charge, there is no proof that Sen. Graham coached Judge Alito. The report simply stated that he had joined a "moot court" session. It is fair to ask based on the information what role he played in the panel, if any.
The hearings are not a farce. There will be important questions answered.
Yes it is Sen. Graham's duty to evaluate Judge Alito's worthiness to sit on the Supreme Court. However, it is jumping to a conclusion that his mere presence at the session determines that he coached Judge Alito's responses.
I have no problem with his opening statement it was fair, as he always is in his actions. He said that there was still a chance that he would learn something that would make him vote no although that is doubtful. It is true that most Republicans went into the hearining planning to vote in favor of Alito anyway.
I hope that what he did is not an ethical violation but I do think that it should be questioned by the ethics committee. If he did violate ethics he should be punished, but if he didn't we need to drop it.
Your Ethical Violation concerning Alito's nomination
To: Sen. Lindsey Graham

As a member of the Judiciary Committee you had no business coaching Alito on his answers! What kind of a farce are these hearings ? You are supposed to be deciding this mans worthiness to sit on the bench of the highest court in the land and you coach him on the answers?! And your own statement, in your own words- you state that your mind is made up. Shame on you. I hope that you are charged with an ethical violation. You deserve it.
