Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends, so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together

When you passed at 7:10 in the morning, on the day of the date I was born, you went to heaven without me and I remembered what it felt like to be alone. You took a piece of me with you, so you wouldn't be alone on your trip, and I gathered myself together, found a purpose and the will to live.

What you were changed my life forever. Although I tried so hard to save you, it was time for you to go, but you left me with a strength and fervor I had never experienced before.

You showed me what I had to do, fight for others like you. To touch their lives as you touched mine. To save them as you saved me. To be a ray of light in the shadows for others, as you were for me.

The love you gave taught me my own love could be limitless. Your loyalty showed me the true meaning of friendship. Your tenacity taught me everything is possible. Your sweetness was my inspiration, your strength became my drive.

AS, I AM BAPTISED AS ROMANO CATHOLIC AND IN SPIRIT VERY 'FRANCISCAN'......Animal Day is celebrated each year on 4 October. On this day, animal life in all its forms is celebrated, and special events are planned on locations all over the globe. 4 October was originally chosen for World Animal Day because it is the feast day of Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint of animals and the environment. Numerous churches throughout the world observe the Sunday closest to 4 October with a Blessing for the Animals.

However, World Animal Day has now gone beyond being the celebration of a Christian saint and is today observed by animal-lovers of all beliefs, nationalities and backgrounds. Animal blessings are held in churches, synagogues, and by independent Animal Chaplains in parks and fields. Animal rescue shelters hold fundraising events and open days, wildlife groups organize information displays, schools undertake animal-related project work and individuals and groups of friends or co-workers donate to animal charities or pledge to sponsor a shelter animal
