If you're a writer or artist in Seattle, please WRITE ME!
Just kidding. You can write me no matter where you call home. I especially love hearing from the British. My passion and life may be writing but my most memorable moments were spent with friends in England.
You can check out my website at www.healingwaterspress.com Click on the "My Writings" button at the top and you'll come to my personal page where there are links to some of my work currently online. Other people's writings are there also. Among other places you can find my poetry are http://rhymster.com/members/Shirl_Steward/ and poetry.com (I am the only Shirl Steward there). I'm on myspace, facebook, imeem and linkedin. If you can't find me, please email me.
NOTE: Sorry I've been away from here for so long. Please forgive me if you've written me a note and I haven't gotten back to you. please try writing me again at santafeshirl@gmail.com and included something like 'saw your profile on care2' in header. News: I have several blogs at various places. I'll be writing on many issues there including women rights and environmental concerns. Also, I do photography, PR and writing professionally as a side business . Like I really have time, right? Write me for more info.
I am always accepting submissions for Healing Waters Journal future issues. Poetry, short stories, and articles about spiritual or environmental topics would all be considered. Writings on starseeds, walk-ins and Indigo children are also acceptable since that is part of who I am! Also if you fall into one of these categories, please join us at the yahoo group WEECreate (listed as wee_create). It is a writing community for the spiritually 'different' or is that spiritually 'challenged'. LOL POSTNOTE: I have been very inactive with WEE but would very much like to reactive it. Please write if you feel so inclined.
This is the theme poem I wrote for the EarthDays 1995 event. The poem was read on stage at the event held April, 1995 in Bethlehem, PA. I also performed it at the Town Hall in Glastonbury, England in early 1999.
It is written from the point of view of the suffering mother earth. She cries for her many wounded children and asks all to join in healing her.
Namaste.
The All Inclusive We
I know not your face yet we are brothers on the same ancestral tree. I know not your name yet we are warriors fighting for the same unreachable dream. I know not your soul yet here we are entwined together, in the same Earth vine, each feeling hopeless, just waiting... wondering if this veil which separates and hides our kinship will lift to reveal... all the fibers in... the all inclusive we.
For a long time I've been an environmental activist . . . plus a very spiritual person, a poet and writer. I was the editor and a reporter for an environmental journal and also did a poetry page. More recently, I work for the local Santa Fe newspaper, The New Mexican as a web editor. I'd like to start a spiritual center and publishing house somewhere in the New Mexico/Colorado area. Would love to meet others in the area of like mind . . . artists, musicians, writers or other spiritual people who just love being who they are! You can view older photos of me on the personal page of my webpage www.healingwaterspress.com.
All are equality created and deserved to be treated with equal respect.
What Gives Me Hope
People who are willing to fight for what they believe is right.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
I would totally eliminate political parties in favor of free elections where the people's choice could actually be elected. Equal but limited on air time would be given to all candidates. Advertising by a candidate would be prohibited and against the law. I'd also reduce elected officials salaries and pensions to be more comparable to a working professional . . . I'd also put a ceiling on salaries of doctors and lawyers . . . excesses would go into a fund to help the poor, to end public abuses and defend the wrongly accused. Oh, I'd also fire Bush for being incompetent.
What/who changed my life and why
The Course in Miracles and other 'magical' events changed my life. Ask me about it.
