I am a 62 year old divorced female currently living in Minot, North Dakota. I am legally blind, but manage to do some sewing and crocheting and lots of writing. I am the proud mother of a 22 year old son who managed to graduate from high school despite having apraxia (a form of autism).
It took a lot of encouragement from his mother who taught him several ways to study...he is really a brain in science and history...his problem is motor related and effects his ability to write so it can be read...thank goodness for computers to help him with that problem!
I love to travel...because of an immune deficiency I am unable to travel to some places I'd like to see (all of them out of the USA).
I am interested in keeping up funding for social issues, transportation, abuse of children and women, I am an advocate of animal welfare and of taking females and other out of the very lowest poverty levels. I have other interests and am constantly writing to our congressmen about various issues that are of importance to our country and indeed the world.
I collect lighthouses...I have been fascinated by them since I was little...I have lived a great deal of my life around water, perhaps that is why lighthouses are so fascinating...I actually started collecting them when I began to lose my vision.
Shy at first, but warm up after getting to know someone. I am a listener more than a talker. I am a former counselor, hence a listener. I am a legally blind and legally blonde 61 (soon to be 62) year old divorced female and the mother of a 22 year old son.
Though legally blind, I still enjoy reading my Bible, talking and largeprint books, crocheting, sewing, and writing award winning poetry.
My Philosophy
Let go and let God.
What Gives Me Hope
That Jesus died for me and I am saved.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
If I were Mayor of Minot, ND, I would make myself available to all groups who visit the city. Our mayor refuses to make disabled visitors to the city welcome...that is not a good position for him to show because he and the city council want to increase tourism to this wonderful city. We have the State Fair in July, the largest Norsk Hostfest in the US, and have the oldest zoo in North Dakota. We also have a wonderful Scandinavian Park with a Stave church...we have much for tourists to see.
What/who changed my life and why
The book that changed my life is The Bible, because it gives me hope that the best is yet to come.
