I believe that telling the truth means more than just not lying.
"Modern" civilization was in many ways rigid, orthodox, parochial and needed to be shattered. When it was shattered, in the years between 1968 and 1972, the post-modern period began and we stopped looking to the future -- stopped looking forward and outward and began looking backward and inward. No one ever bothered to pick up the pieces of the modern era and put Humpty Dumpty back together again. It's time for the next era to begin, including the best of the modern, but in a fairer, more thoughtful, more inclusive way. It's time to look back to our future.
What Gives Me Hope
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
Increase by 1,000,000 times funding for development of experimental energy technologies and double that for education.
What/who changed my life and why
J.R.R. Tolkien's 'The Lord of the Rings' (the books, not the movies), and 'The Iron Giant' (the movie, not the book), because they both taught me that anyone can be a hero who chooses it.
"The people I'm furious with are the women's liberationists. They keep getting up on soapboxes and proclaiming women are brighter than men. That's true, but it should be kept quiet or it ruins the whole racket."
- Anita Loos - New York Times, 10 February 1974
... I simply love this quote. I hope that it makes you smile With Love Ana
- Remember its quite true to say One smile is worth a dozen frowns. - It enriches those who receive, Without making poorer those who give. - Among the worlds expensive things A smile is very cheap. - The world will seem a better place And all because you smiled. - And after all this my dear Friend Just give a big one: it's Weekend
... so, I wish you a wonderful one. And, smile dear Friend With Love Ana *flower
Our friendship is an ocean Stretching Far and wide Never ending Filled with memories That last a lifetime Our friendship is Just like the stars Both go beyond Man's reach So best friends it is Now and forever. That's the best feeling there is Nothing could be better Now and forever.
Little children, never give Pain to things that feel and live Let the gentle robin come For the crumbs you save at home As his meat you throw along He’ll repay you with a song. Never hurt the timid hare Peeping from her green grass lair Let her come and sport and play On the lawn at close of day. The little lark goes soaring high To the bright windows of the sky Singing as if t'were always spring And fluttering on an untired wing Oh! Let him sing his happy song Nor do these gentle creatures wrong.
Let Me Live The darkness is closing in Soon I will be gone Why do I deserve this? I've done nothing wrong. I'm thrown in to a crate I feel so cold and alone I wonder what's next The future is unknown. Hundreds of others around me Screaming for their parents I know they will not come They've been shot protecting us. Everyday this happens Innocent animals killed for money Another day, another kill It's not the one bit funny. Do your self a favour If not for you, for your future kids Save us endangered animals Please just let us live! by Amy Carnes (aged 10)
"Someone has said that a friend is a bank of credit on which we can draw supplies of confidence, counsel, sympathy, help, and love. And that is true, for if you have a genuine friend, you possess riches greater than silver or gold. Which, of course, brings us to the other sideof the question: are you, and am I, the kind of friend that others can treasure?"
There's nothing as nice As someone who shares, Your laughter, your secrets, Your wishes and cares, Someone who's there Through your good times and tears, Who stays by your side As your friend through the years.
