I love human culture in all its glory and "mundane-ness." I believe that everyone has a story to tell; you just need to listen without judgement and with compassionate intentions. I frequent cultural events from pop-wows to tea ceremonies, plays to sand mandala constructions, and I find that the people I meet have so much to teach me. I have a great sense of humor, a red-head's passion, and love to read historical fiction and fantasy. I'm also a civil rights activist, and campaign for everything from LGBT rights, to ADA enforcement. As of May 2009, you are most likely to find me reading in libraries, attending the theatre, hanging out at the zoo or Greenfield Village, or cooking yummy spring fruits and veggies, or enjoying the summer movie blockbusters. I adore cats most of all, but take all those animals that I find who need a good home. Oohh! And I like elephants...I got to ride one in India.
I'm an LBGT rights activist. I sued my highscool with the help of the ACLU for publication rights in the literary journal. (I wanted to pub. an article on institutionalized homophobia).
My Philosophy
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Also, for me personally, almost anything can be solved by taking a long soak in the tub. Water is my element.
What Gives Me Hope
Watching my Star War's fanatic, tattooed, dredlocked, ex-addict, frequently grumpy brother, sitting on the floor with my niece, singing "You Are My Sunshine," and playing with My Little Ponies (the same way he did with me, when I was her age).
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
Appoint more women to positions of political power--especially those active in service organizations and aware of the struggles of mothers and children to make "ends meet."
What/who changed my life and why
As an adult, the film "Uncorked" helped me to realize the importance of just sitting, and of finding peace within. As a teen, the book "Magic's Pawn" helped me to understand and accept my own sexuality as wholesome and good.
"Well behaved women rarely make history." --L. Ulrich or perhaps "Until he extends his circle of compassion to include all living things, man will not himself find peace." --Albert Schweitzer

The tree embraces an invisible wind And a fairy come out flying Waiting the messenger bird That broke apart on the hard sky His wings wind from Earth Coiled upward and smooth The tree there was with the birds resting Waiting for the sun to fly I was dreaming with wings And for a brief moment, I knew the joy For one brief moment I could fly, And since I have no wings to fly, I stay Imagining how sad it would be If birds could not fly.

The glistening sun is shining On the sparkling water, The sparkling water is connecting To the pretty ocean, The pretty ocean is as beautiful As a bachelor button flower, The bachelor button flower is yellow and blue Like the sunset sky, The sunset sky is giving peace to the Earth!
When I give light I also receive, When I smile I give light to others, they give light to me. It is with the light all of us give, all, that we are free.
