He Thinks Of His Past Greatness When A Part Of The Constellations Of Heaven
I have drunk ale in the Country of the Young And I weep because I know all things now: I was a hazel tree, and they hung The Pilot Star and the old Crooked Plough Among my leaves in times out of mind: I was a rush that horses tread upon: I became a man, a hater of the wind, Knowing one, out of all things, alone, that his head May not lie on the breast nor his lips on the hair Of the woman he loves, until the day he dies. O beast of the wilderness, bird of the air, Must I endure your amorous cries?
- William Butler Yeats

19 Are you the one who makes the horse so brave and covers his neck with flowing mane? 20 Do you make him leap like a grasshopper? His haughty neighing inspires terror. 21 Exultantly he paws the soil of the valley, and charges the battle-line in all his strength. 22 He laughs at fear; he is afraid of nothing, he recoils before no sword. 23 On his back the quiver rattles, the flashing spear and javelin. 24 Trembling with impatience, he eats up the miles; when the trumpet sounds, there is no holding him. 25 At each trumpet blast he neighs exultantly. He scents the battle from afar, the thundering of the commanders and the war cry.
Job - Chapter 39 (NJB)

All people dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their mind, Wake in the morning to find that it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous people, For they dream their dreams with open eyes, And make them come true.
I came up in the horse business & never had the good sense to leave. ;-) My grandfather was a jump jockey [back in Ireland] & I started galloping horses on the track when I was 14. That did it... I found out you can actually get paid to do what you love!
I'm a product of the Parochial school system... & I've never been in therapy!

My Philosophy
Self-reliance!
Moderation and proportion are the keys... it's all about balance.
What Gives Me Hope
My faith. My country. Fast horses. Red sunsets. Strangers who make eye contact & say "Good Morning". New foals. The lottery!
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
I would outlaw fundamentalist extremists of any & all description. [Hmmm... is that stand a little too fundamentally extreme? ;-P]
