About Me

I'm too shy to be an in-your-face protester, but I care very much about animals and want them to be treated with compassion and respect. I hate that they are often looked upon as things that people own and control, things without the capacity for emotion or feelings like we have and things that don't feel pain the way we do. We need to be guardians of animals because the one thing they don't have is a voice. We need to look after them because they often can't defend themselves. My heart breaks when so-called human beings cause thoughtless, heartless pain and suffering against the gentle creatures of this Earth. I wish that somehow I could save them all.

If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by

If I were someone in 'power,' I would find a way to make people more aware of the plight of wildlife and companion animals, both locally and around the world. Maybe it should be required to a degree in our schools. Perhaps the amount of time spent discussing sports on the nightly news could be cut and that time could be used to educate people about animals and what needs to be done to better care for them, what needs to be done to keep them from extinction, what needs to be done to make more and more people aware of the injustice they suffer all over the world, etc. Efforts need to be stepped up to put these issues in the forefront of peoples' minds. I'm not saying I'm perfect; I'm still a student myself. The more I learn, the more my heart breaks and the more I want to make a difference - which is exactly what I hope would happen to others as they become more aware.
