This song is the most brutally honest work of rebellion I've ever heard.
It's interesting how the words and message of this song apply to generation after generation:
Gimme Some Truth (John Lennon)
I'm sick and tired of hearing things From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites All I want is the truth Just gimme some truth
Ive had enough of reading things By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians All I want is the truth Just gimme some truth
No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me With just a pocketful of hope Money for dope Money for rope
I'm sick to death of seeing things From tight-lipped, condescending, mamas little chauvinists All I want is the truth Just gimme some truth now
Ive had enough of watching scenes Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas All I want is the truth now Just gimme some truth

To achieve a better world, we must:
-- Eliminate I, I, I ( Ignorance, Intolerance, Indifference )
-- Promote U,U,U ( Unity, Understanding, Unconditional love )
This also symbolizes humility and selflessness, which means thinking less of "I" , referring to ones self, and more of "U" (you), meaning others.
My beliefs:
1) LOVE ALL CHILDREN: THE LOVE A CHILD RECEIVES WILL DETERMINE HER OR HIS FUTURE.
2) HONOR ALL FORMS OF LIFE: NO MATTER HOW LARGE OR SMALL, EVERY CREATURE HAS A PLACE AND PURPOSE IN THE WORLD. WE ARE ALL CONNECTED BY THE SAME LIFE FORCE.
3) RESPECT ALL WOMEN: THERE IS NOTHING ON EARTH THAT IS MORE PERFECT THAN A WOMAN--THE SOURCE OF CREATION, THE EMBODIMENT OF DIVINE ENERGY, A TEMPLE OF LOVE & COMPASSION. LARGE OR SMALL, OLD OR YOUNG, GOOD OR BAD--EVERY WOMAN IS DESERVING OF RESPECT.
4) WORSHIP ALL OF NATURE: EVERYTHING THAT EXISTS IN THE WORLD, ANIMATE AND INANIMATE, IS OF THE SAME ENERGY. HUG A TREE, ROLL IN THE GRASS,TALK TO A PLANT, MEDITATE ON THE SUN OR THE OCEAN. NATURE GIVES TO US--WE MUST GIVE TO NATURE.
If you want to be a true doer of divine works, your first aim must be to be totally free from all desire and self-regarding ego. All your life must be an offering and a sacrifice to the Supreme; your only object in action shall be to serve, to receive, to fulfill, to become a manifesting instrument of the Divine Shakti in Her works. You must grow in the divine consciousness till there is no difference between your will and Hers, no motive except Her impulsion in you, no action that is not Her conscious action in you and through you.
-Sri Aurobindo
"I slept and dreamt That life was joy. I awoke and saw that Life was service. I acted and behold, Service was joy." -Rabindranath Tagore
A person asked Buddha: “Are you a God?” Buddha’s reply was “No.” “Are you an Angel?” “No.” “Then what are you?” “I am Awake.”
Talk as much philosophy as you like, worship as many gods as you please, observe ceremonies and sing devotional hymns, but liberation will never come, even after a hundred aeons, without realizing the Oneness. -Sankaracharya
Freedom is not a reaction; freedom is not a choice. It is man's pretense that because he has choice he is free. Freedom is pure observation without direction, without fear of punishment and reward. Freedom is without motive; freedom is not at the end of the evolution of man but lies in the first step of his existence. In observation one begins to discover the lack of freedom. Freedom is found in the choiceless awareness of our daily existence and activity.
-- Jiddu Krishnamurti

Gayatri Mantra: Om Bhur Bhuvah: Svah: Tat Savitur Varenyam Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi Dhiyo Yo Nah: Prachodayat _______________________________________________ स्त्री
Woman is the Creator of the Universe. She is the very body of the Universe; Woman is the support of the three worlds, She is the very essence of our body. There is no other happiness as that which woman can procure. There is no other way than that which woman can open to us. Never has there been, never will there be, a fortune, a kingdom, place of pilgrimage, yoga, prayer, mystic formula, asceticism, or wealth to compare with the like of woman (Shakti-Sangama Tantra II.52)
Children, love the poor wholeheartedly. Go to their level. Believe that it is your dharma, your God-given duty to love and serve the poor. No matter how rich we are, as long as we are not prepared to be compassionate towards the poor, we are truly living in utter poverty. Such people are the true destitutes in the eyes of God. It is no use lighting a lamp before God and making offerings in the temple if you do not care to provide some light to the unlit hovels of the poor. We should love them and we should serve them. Without this, no amount of meditation we may do will bestow on us the bliss of meditation. It is kindness and service to others that imparts the sweetness of meditation. ---Amma
"If, in the future, there is a Third World War, let it not be a war between countries, but rather a war against our common enemy -- poverty. In today's world, people experience two kinds of poverty: poverty caused by lack of food, clothing, and shelter; and the poverty caused by lack of love and compassion. Of these two, the second type needs to be considered first...if we have love and compassion in our hearts, then we will wholeheartedly serve those who suffer from lack of food, clothing, and shelter." -- Amma

True heroes are not celebrities. True heroes are not movie stars, television personalities, athletes, models, writers, musicians, poets, scientists, politicians, religious leaders, millionaires, or family members. True heroes are those who help the weak and serve the less fortunate; do no harm to any creature; preserve nature; fight poverty; speak only the truth; and give much of themselves, asking nothing in return.
What Gives Me Hope
Amma; people who speak up for those who are less fortunate.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
1) Destroy the plutocracy. Introduce Socialism.
2) Evenly distribute wealth.
3) Teach meditation to school children.
4) Ban the Bible. It is nothing more than a book of myths and fictional stories written by greedy, wealthy tyrants as a means for political manipulation and oppression.
What/who changed my life and why
Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, my beloved Guru--She is the embodiment of wisdom, love & compassion.
"When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside can't harm you" (African proverb)
"The universe is my country and the human family is my tribe." (Kahlil Gibran)
"Instead of giving someone a piece of your mind, give them the peace of your mind." (Believe it or not, i got this from a fortune cookie)
"If females ruled the world, there would be peace on earth... and a lot of fat, happy women." (not sure who said this)
"People are only as happy as they allow themselves to be." (Abraham Lincoln)
"There is one truth that shines through all of creation. Rivers and mountains, plants and trees, the sun, the moon, the stars, you and i - all are expressions of this one Reality. It is by assimilating this truth in our eyes, and thus gaining a deeper understanding, that we can discover the inherent beauty in this diversity." (Amma)
"Fathers and their muscle have murdered religion. Mothers and their milk can revive it." (Dr. Anoop Chandola)
"Women are the power and the very foundation of the world. When women lose touch with themselves, the harmony of the world ceases to exist, and destruction sets in. It is therefore crucial that women everywhere make every effort to rediscover their fundamental nature, for only they can save this world." (Amma)
"It is difficult to find happiness in oneself; it is impossible to find it anywhere else." (Arthur Schopenhauer)
"Religion is a question of being and becoming, not one of believing." (Swami Vivekananda)
"If you want peace, do not see the faults of others. Rather, see your own faults." (Sarada Devi)
"The great art of life is sensation - to feel that we exist, even in pain." (Lord Byron)
"If people do not revere the law of nature, it will inexorably and adversely affect them. If they accept it with knowledge and reverence, it will accomodate them with balance and harmony." (Lao Tsu)
"You may deprive me of my possessions; you may shed my blood and burn my body, but you cannot hurt my spirit or touch my truth." (Kahlil Gibran)
"Of all the evils for which man has made himself responsible, none is so degrading, so shocking, or so brutal as his abuse of the better half of humanity...the female sex, not the weaker sex. It [The female sex] is the nobler of the two for it is even today the embodiment of sacrifice, humility, faith, and knowledge." (Mahatma Mohandas Gandhi)
"Do not walk ahead of me, I might not follow; do not walk behind me, I might not lead; rather, walk beside me, and be my friend."
(Albert Camus)
