Description A day long, free event, dedicated to “speaking out” against all forms of childhood abuse, incest, rape and domestic violence. Any and all stories, poetry, prose, testimony, music, dance, art and any other expression created from surviving abuse or fighting against it will be shared and appreciated. Help break the cycle of secretiveness and misconceptions the way only survivors and allies can. About Me	I'm a lab tech by day, a writer, advocate for children and caretaker for my pets and disabled significant other by night. I try very hard to align my writing with my advocacy for children. Unfortunately, it seems easier to sell books guiding people in how to abuse children than those that show the trials and tribulations that abuse survivors deal with as they grow. Especially if you have the audacity to make it creative.

My Philosophy	The meaning of life is simple- take what you're given, make it better and give the improved version back to the world.
What Gives Me Hope	There is so much goodness out there. So much beauty. The earth is so resilient. People are capable of so much healing. Life can be so absolutely good.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by	Fund evidence-based child abuse prevention programs enough that every at-risk family that wants help raising their child will have it. Then sit back and reap the financial benefits- these programs save $50/year the first year a family enrolls, and the savings only increase with time.
What/who changed my life and why	Album- Counting Crows "August and Everything After" because that's when I decided I wanted to write (weird effect for an album to have on someone, but I'm weird). Dr. David Olds for pioneering the field of Primary Prevention of Child Abuse JD Salinger's "Catcher in the Rye" for showing me, at a fairly young and mailable age, how delightful books can be.
